Flak and Lockons everywhere, flying is not fun anymore

I also run Airhammer most of the time, currently mixed with either Fuel or lolpods, AH is good against tanks but i don't have the 7 shot magazine to take them out in one pass, and when i hover behind them im practically beggin to take the maincannon apporach of ESf disposal, making a second pass is usually no option thanks to the AA or the driver having me noticed by then, so it comes down to a combination of lolpods and AH to screw with the tanks.

    This. So much.

A guy on Miller has a 42 KD/R. Guess how he got and mantains that score? Lock ons? Don't make me laugh. Dual bursters? LOL

He got it and mantains it in his ESF with rocketpods, like most people with absurdly high KD/R. Air is OP. The problem lies in you.

Any lock on won't kill an ESF. Ever. (flares, afterburners, terrain), and a dual burster won't kill him either. He needs like 5 seconds of constant fire without missing, and as soon as you get out of there even if you don't have cover, any movement will make him miss unless he's a fortune teller and can predict your movements 2 seconds ago. They are just hurting their XP gain for supporting their team, unlike you, who can go anywhere on the map in matter of seconds and lolpod to death tanks, planes and infantry.

He got it by unloging as soon as he's about to die.

Flying is stupid in this game anyway. The basic design of the air units fails. As irritating as it is, OP AA is better then the trainwreck that is air power. ESF are pretty much INFANT AC130 Gunships. SOE went "lazy cod mode" when it came down to delivering actual teamplay. Spammy, awkward, and open. Might as well just have wide open featureless maps for the way this game is designed.

Lets see if SOE has the brain to fix it.

At this point, I am just hoping they make "just enough" money to cause Dice or Activision to get greedy and try to make a "better mmofps". That is it. Once PS2 generates some competition in this market I am begging they go bankrupt and fade from the industry.

and the WORST PART...PS2 is still a much better game then BF3 or any of the new CODs. Only game that is even decent is Arma 3.

If they would blend PS2 with Arma 3 some how...that would be amazing.

Even with such cheap tactics check his score per hour. He's clearly doing some intelligent flying. Air has such room for improvement and such ways to avoid any threat that is ridiculous that people hover around bursters and lock ons and then think they have the right to get things nerfed.

I can deal with AA that is not <LOCK> on weapon. Perhaps get rid of the silly damage that small arms fire does.. There is no need for it; though I do take many ESFs down with it - I think it's just plain ridiculous.

It doesn't matter whether the striker "sucks.' The bottom line is 1 single striker user prevents an air user from being effective in a large radius. Of course a pilot can just fly away, but keep in mind that single striker user is preventing flight other than NOE from occuring in a large radius and preventing dogfighting for every single ESF that enters that airspace.

That is why strikers are stupid and OP. They provide automatic area denial and free reign for mosquitos to operate in, and prevent enemy air from being effective. That's a bit absurd considering fights contain hundreds of players. Heaven forbid 1 player points a striker at you....

And against libs don't even get me started. At least ESFs can avoid the locks or user afterburners to break LOS.
  8. Holomang

So long as lolpods become lock-on only I see no problem with this.

Many got along fine before the whiners nerfed air. But you won't see it that way, no. You want to nerf paper, but you think scissors is fine.
  10. Purg

I stopped using mine to target ESF, it's just a waste of time while you're dangling in the wind for any half decent sniper to knock you off. Some clown runs in front of you, start lock all over again. You momentarily move behind a few branches of a tree, start lock again. Pass behind any structure no matter how thin, start lock again. Actually get a lock and fire, ESF points its nose down for a moment, Striker rockets impact the ground 50m in front of you.

Against Liberators, they're pretty good. No flares, I'll probably hit you with 4 out of 5 of the rockets.

Just great. Another freaking NC airman complaining about aa. Okay listen first planetside 2 is teamwork based, you as from what I hear just fly in guns blazing. Join a squad ask them to distract infantry and pin down Max's while you fly in and take them out, second STOP going on about the striker, it's already worse then the other faction unique rockets that can attack INFANTRY. Striker is a anti vehicle weapon I does not need a nerf, we have to have at least a squad armed with strikers to have any effect

PLanetside is as much lone wolf as it is team. Truth be told its probably more lone wolf. I played in a squad last night. Great group of guys, but not serious. I have been in many squads, zergs, whatever. Its like this.......

"somebody grab a sundy and go here..........we need engineers up on those turrets........alright, everybody deploy on the beacon."

Thats about as organized as I have seen it. Which is completely unorganized. Its not worth it now hanging around a base for an hour to get 5 certs.

Lone wolfing is the way to go to get reward in my op.
  13. xGreedFuSioN

pod the striker user, lol. one guy with a striker can do no such thing unless you suck.
  14. xXSmokeXx

I have a proposition. Nerf AA flak accuracy. Nerf AA lock-on launchers so that the user must keep the target painted (keep it in the crosshairs or lose the lock).

And remove rocket pods from ESFs and put them on liberators. You wanna fly a nimble fighter? Then fight nimbly in air only. You want to bomb stuff, get a bomber.

    There. Fixed.
  15. Czuuk

We find the challenge entertaining. And look forward to making howto videoz on the proper etiquette of liberating AA MAXes after the buff.
  16. Mostadio

    Mmm pilot tears.

Good! Because it sucks a$$ to get farmed on the ground by 10 aircraft nose down a$$ up all night long. Its funny as heck to hear pilot complaining about people actually shooting back at them. WAHHHH! OMG! They can shoot me down?!?!?!?!? Thats not fair! I was about to kill that tank with one volley without them knowing i was even here. NURF THEM!

Well since PS2 is a game and not a company, and the S in SOE (that's the name of the game company that owns PS2) stands for Sony I wouldn't hold your breath.
Yeah all these ESF crying threads are pretty funny, the guys who can one shot everything on the ground complaining about the one or two things on the ground that can even really damage them and are a long way from being able to OHK them. LOL!
  19. Advanced Darkness

I can chalk your post up with the other, tanks arent fun anymore, walking on the ground isnt fun anymore, threads. imo the main problem is the lack of survivability all around. I'm not sure where this "everything dies fast" method of game dev.came from but i can say it wasnt from PS1. I never played any BF3 , CS (only story mode of CoD 1) so i cant say thats where it came from, but being able to survive whatever is coming at you with enough time to make a logical decision that could save you has always been more fun to me than being hit by something and pretty much planning your next respawn.

All the ohk crap doesnt make much sense to me either.
