Flak and Lockons everywhere, flying is not fun anymore

I made a post about this. pods vs. infantry are perfect, pods need to require a reload to kill tanks, a full mag to the behind should take them down to about 15-20% health.
However, it's been said that this is going to be fixed, but not a word on burster maxes.

All I can hear from you is "Please don't take my stupid OP farming tool"

Burster maxes are fine. They shred your ESF just like your ESF lolpods would otherwise shred unprotected ground troops.

I'm sorry you can't farm infantry at bases your troops aren't even attacking with impunity. Maybe you should try asking your friendly infantry to kill the AA for you so you can resume your lolpod adventures and continue earning lolcerts.

The problem is that AA stacks a lot better then air, or rather it is easier to stack it. Having 2 maxes standing in one place is easy as pie, but attacking simultaneously with two esf's require some coordinating. Stacking 3 maxes is still very easy, and three esf harder still. You get the picture. This make AA more and more OP the bigger the battle gets. While a progressive relation between the two is perfectly fine, I feel that the focus of the balancing has been too few vs too few, or even 1 on 1, which is skewing the balance in favor of the AA max.

That would be a valid point if not most MAX AA was based out of, or around a spawn room, which you have to take the base to clear. And killing the AA is about the last thing you get to do in a ground battle, as they usually doesn't stay right on the front line, which again means that you have to win the battle on the ground before the air can mop up any stragglers, which isn't a very productive role, as it serves no real purpose to your empire, as the ground troops could do it just fine on their own.

But all those ground troops can also shred my ESF.
If 2 heavy assaults unload on me with carvs im dead if I try to hover, if I try to kill them I get it up the **** from the burster max they're guarding.

    https://players.planetside2.com/#!/5428010618038742225/weapons

    Burster kills:
    27 + 25 = 52

    Burster score:
    15,524 + 14,551 = 30,075

Lets compare it to one of my more commonly used weapons:

The EM1 is a close bet. 229 kills netting a score of 32,044. Ok so it's not literally 100x more kills, but the score you get from bursters is ridiculous. It completely outweighs anything else in game right now that is not some form of exploiting or farming.

op flies in a straight line and blames bursters for his failure, more news at 11

Someone said you don't make good score/certs with Bursters. I'm just showing how they were wrong.

Once again, maybe you should try not hovering directly over people firing at you.

Once again, maybe you should try asking your ground troops to kill the AA maxes.
  10. xGreedFuSioN

You can't kill the people firing at you without hovering, lol. doing a flyby you get maybe 1 of them and then he just gets revived.
  11. Killy80

If you call a weapon with only 12k shots fired "commonly used" then yeah. Look at the shots fired from BOTH bursters in total and at the score and then at the shots fired from your EM1. Then compare to the score.

    The good pilots still dominate.

At the moment we have horribly weak skyguards and AA turrets that can only kill noobs who fly on top of them. The only real AA is the Max.

So you have 1 real threat. Flares + speed make lock-ons close to pointless and the thousand of hawk missiles I have fired which killed nothing are testament to that. So that 1 threat makes you unhappy. Try being a tank, there are 10+ significant threats including ESFs that can kill you in 1.5 seconds.

I think many ESF pilots are struggling with finding the skill required to fly away from a Max. You can pick your fights, you can instead go find a tank or infantry without a Max, and hoverspam them. ESFs have extraordinary damage and mobility and are still the strongest vehicle in the game. People don't fly Libs much anymore because ESFs dominate so much.

You have 1 thing to worry about, just the 1. Pick your battles.

So your single lolpod ESF should be able to overpower an organized group of infantry that can revive and/or respawn? I don't think so.

It's impossible to discuss air vs ground balance on this forum, it's nothing but a bunch of rocket pod ********. I mean seriously, first post on these threads is almost always "lolpods."
  15. Killy80

The good pilots can very well. The bad ones can't and instead open up posts at the forums.
  16. DashRendar

I have no idea what point you are trying to make, nobody mentioned shots fired, or shot accuracy, or shot spread or any of that. You make better certs as AA Max than you do as infantry. End. Story. Point. Made.
  17. mooman1080

Considering that rocket pod AOE is pretty terrible, and you don't want to crash into the ground, no you can't reliable kill infantry bombing run style.
  18. Killy80

When you argue that you rarely kill but get a high score, the number of shots fired compared to score counts. You got about 20k shots fired with both bursters and 30k points. And then look at your EM1. You have 12k shots fired, and 32k points. It has a much better shot/XP ratio than the bursters. Your XP with bursters definitely does not "go through the roof". It's much better with the EM1.

You can't say you don't score much kills with bursters, but then base your calculation on kills.

um. 33k SPH and 92 kills by sitting on my buddy's zephyr. by tanking burster hits (only got blown up as he decided to park in front of a locked down prowler). have you tried being the only burster in your squad? how many points do you get then? how about three bursters locked in a hex by 6 ESFs? Point gain, as usual is heavily dependent on the number of buddies around you.

EDIT: to drop that rage stuff.

How do all those players pulling MAX units in spawn rooms get to those rooms? Do they run there and away from some ground vehicle or infantry fight, or were they lolpodded and respawning anyway?

These ESF pilot complaints are amusing. I doubt there are a lot of players that prefer AA to playing other aspects of the game, but it gets forced on them.
