For me at least. I've been playing PS2 for over a year now and I think I saw my best frame rates around this August (following the fix for SLI systems), but since then I'm sorry to report that each subsequent update this Fall has seen performance (for me) grow increasingly worse. I was playing just now and even with just a few (five maybe?) other players in the area I was seeing constant stuttering and FPS drops. FPS even nosedived to the single digits when in my Magrider I passed another Magrider. What's up SOE? Is my system no longer up to the task?
Okay, I used NVIDIA GeForce Experience for the first time to "optimize" my PS2 graphics settings. It dialed just about everything back and now I'm getting much better FPS. Guess it is my system.
Wait, I'd actually like to know: What does NVIDIA GeForce Experience actually do? What did it specifically do to your settings? Did it change them in-game? How did you know they were changed? Would you recommend using it for PS2? I recently uninstalled it because I figured it does nothing but serve as another useless process in my task manager.
Vioxtar, I've never been sure what NVIDIA GeForce Experience is good for save expediting the updating of video drivers (and constantly clicking to install the almost daily profile updates), but otherwise I always prefer the legacy control panel. That said, today when I had it optimize PS2 game play it went in and tweaked the actual in-game graphics settings. For example, it took Render Distance down from 6000 to 4000, turned off Ambient Occlusion, along with some other changes. I had no problem tweaking in-game graphics settings after that, so I took GeForce Experience's optimization more as a starting point. I don't know if GeForce Experience also tweaks the GPU's settings. BTW, I've long used the freeware Razer Game Booster and it worked fine in conjunction with GeForce Experience (Game Booster allows you to turn off chosen Windows processes and services when engaged and automatically restores them when you exit the game).
