So can each faction get a version of the other factions base weapon? IE like Vanu and NC can get the MSW or a gun that bascially has the exact same profile to it, and vise versa? I know in PS1 you could 'steal' other peopls weapons, would really like to see something like that come back as well. Maybe make it like a series of objectives to unlock them.
Each faction has a rough equivalent of each other's weapons, plus some faction bonuses. Overall, the differences are minor in most cases. For instance: T1 Cycler NC1 Gauss Rifle Pulsar VS1 AR-100 Are all default assault rifles for TR, NC, VS and NSO, respectively. Statwise, they are pretty much identical. In cases like shotguns, snipers, rocket launchers, submachineguns and knives, quite a few of them have exactly the same stats, just with a different skin. A few exceptions aside.
While true the theoretical TTK is roughly the same, actual TTK is not, higher ROF weapons dont get the full effect of their DPS due to ROF being tied to FPS. That issue aside it would really be nice to get some more verity in the classes.

Its been an issue for a long long time its because of how the game and netcode for it was written, because it was written to handle the older hardware not what we are currently running so it does screwy things.
