FACT: Heavy Assaults don't win major battles, Medics does.

Try assaulting a major base in a 48+ battle without any medics, you will absolutely fail.
Try assaulting with all 48+ of you only on heavy assaults, you will absolutely fail.

I challenge all major outfits out there to organize a live broadcasted event that will feature one group to have all medics versus a group to have all heavy assaults, and pit them against each other in a best of 10 match in all major facilities and show the entire planetside 2 community how "OP" heavy assaults are.

So lets nerf its shields and nerf its rockets, it all makes sense.

What's the point of this thread?

    Sure.

Except this is hypothetical. Few real fights will be without any medics, even fewer with all heavies.
Hence this isn't even an argument - "imagine if this would happen". Cool. But it won't. Neither should it.

This won't disprove HA from being way too good as they are now in the real environment. All it will prove is that medics are good at picking people up, in a corpse rich environment.

But good job at trying to make it sound like you matter. Any other challenges? I challenge you to think objectively.

Point of this thread is "HA is too awesome and steals our spotlight and women".

@ the OP — I raise you to assault a base in a 48+ fight with nothing but medics, and see how far you get.

Actually, my outfit did that a few days ago. Worked out pretty well.

Not surprised. Medics have rather versitile weapons, I've heard, and they could just stay in groups and heal each other when needed.

I actually think that the OP's suggestion would yield some relevant suggestions. You have to remember that all of science was originally hypotheses that were eventually applied to the real world, so running this scenario, while not being realistic, it would still prove that the HAs potency can be countered, and how well this potency is countered will determine whether HA is OP or not.

Fact: Shooting them with bullets is bad for their health.

True fact, every time you die, redeploy, squad deploy, log in, or go to a weapons terminal you can change your class. Most of us are playing them all as situation dictates. I wouldn't be wrong to assume you are not the new guy who only considers himself one class would I?

Actually thier real staying power comes from being able to sit together in a tight group, and res grenades.

Entire group gets killed? One res grenade and most of them are back up. After that, only one medic needs to live long enough to drop another res grenade and then the cycle repeats.

Now imagine 20+ medics doing this, at least half of them with bandoliers, and you can see why i think res grenades are currently one of the most BS things in the game right now.

Try assaulting a base without engineers. good luck running knifeonly after some time.

who would have thought that a proper unit composition leads to more effective confrontations?
  11. Bankrotas

If enemy has engineers, you can work around that.

Apparently, not the author of this thread.
  13. JonboyX

    Wrong.

    Maxes win battles.

Shame that engineers get so attached to their suppression turrets, which are actually fairly unspectacular. Still, their time, their choice.

I Concur, Res grenades have killed all Interest I had in organized gameplay, just spam numbers and revive grenades on capture points, gg wp next base.

Wish you could only be revived one time per Grenade, and you know what ? This will probably happen, not before 2,3 months though.
Until then I'll avoid medic nests like the pest.

and who revives MAXs that took quite some effort to take down? Medics!
  15. Negator

    and HAs kill maxes
  16. FaLI3N

I only ever really pull heavy when there is a great big dirty ball of maxes. I do love throwing 3-4 AV nades into a room and then watching all the maxes melt.

Hmmmm interesting... according to this "test" we'll either discover if the HAs are OP or the Medics are OP.

Just to make sure, NAWRF DEM BOATH!!!

I agree that coordinated medics would do better than coordinated Heavy Assaults, although, the point of this thread is to try and prevent the nerf to Heavy Assault shields. Heavy assaults Should get nerfed as currently, in a 1v1 (ie, you walk around a corner and bump into one) you will 99% lose the engagement unless u use a shotgun. Also heavy assaults are overused in my opinion, if they are nerfed, then maybe more people would use other great classes, like engineer or medic.

The change should make Absolutely no difference to organised play, because in organised play you would know when to activate a shield, and you all coordinate pushes and rushes etc so the delay shouldn't really effective these. The only thing the shield nerf WILL stop is when you get a jump on an heavy assault, land a few shots, the heavy assault spins around, activates its shield and completely wrecks you.
  19. DevDevBooday

But then a HE tank comes along and you have 48 medics who really wish someone pulled HA.

    Its called combined arms OP.
  20. gigastar

Id rather that the res grenade despawns when the medic who threw it dies, but your idea is good too.
