Explosives blind Gunners/Drivers Post PU02: Intended?

This is sort of entertaining. You mean when I'm in a Skyguard blindly shooting at an ESF who's rocketpodding me he's seeing roughly the same thing?

That probably explains why more pilots seem to be taking a dirt nap right after they do a pass on me. In a way this is a buff to Skyguards!
  2. WaaWaa

Yup pretty much. Whatever it is, it needs an official comment from Luperza or a Dev if it was indeed intentional, as I did not pick it up in the PU02 patch notes as being intentional.

It's not just gunners and drivers. It seems that all explosions have this effect now. Even if you are just running from here to there or sitting in the spawn room, any explosions block the screen and cause the FPS to go down to near single digits.

I have an average FPS of 45-50, but the smoke, fire, etc. drops it down to 10-15 for a few seconds. It seems that the multiple round weapons have a worse effect, i.e. lolpods, viper.

This exactly, the same goes for ESFs using their pods, which is the reason I prefer Thermal for anything with an AA-capable elevation. Both myself and one of my regularly gunners play on laptops, so the frame-drops we get in such events can be quite extreme. As Waa of course mentioned it is also a pain to deal with when facing a couple of Viper Lightnings. Maybe it is a stunt to get more people to cert into thermal? :p

Thank you for your comment. It was really bad for me in vehicles, but I had no idea the extent to which this new change has affected the player base in terms of FPS/performance.

Is this information enough for the Devs to undo this change? Do we need more input? How much more input?

Good question. You've clearly shown the problem through those videos. This all depends on if the developers see this, agree, and then how much of a problem they believe it to be.

The issue I see is that it may be an unintended consequence of changing the design of explosions, and so they would need to rework explosions again to fix it (which they may not be willing to do).

So THAT'S why they stop shooting back when the lolpods drop. Good to know.

Yes I hope that more people speak up if it is indeed very irritating for them as well. One of my outfit mates says he just lags out completely in the face of any explosions. If this is indeed the case for many players, all the more reason to change/rework this ASAP.

So from my viewpoint based on the feedback, the reason this needs to change is twofold. One, it's a quality of life fix for vehicle users. Two, for lower end machines it's making the game unplayable.

Does this happen with specific graphical settings (i.e. on ultra but not on low settings) or is it the same across the board?

Would be a good idea to find out since my guess would be that it is an unintended change, Couldn't really see them thinking this would be a good idea. Gives a clear advantage to the guy that shoots first (Han... Always Han) and an even greater advantage to multishot explosive weapons.

    (Edit: Typo)

Good question. At any rate, if it does happen on low settings or not, it must be fixed. But I think you might be getting to the why of this issue, and the Devs need to follow up on it.
  11. Syrathin

Agreed, And the more information that can be passed a long the better. I'm not much for vehicles myself but explosives shouldn't have the secondary effect of acting as AV concussion grenades.

Hoping more people become aware of this issue through this post, and if people that have posted have not already done so, can you please make them aware of this problem and to either through forum posting or general information get the word out that this is something that should be changed back if it's at all possible.

This explains why my gunner (who has Zoom) was screaming in Prox. Chat "WHERE IS HE, I CAN'T SEE HIM" during a fight with a Lockdown HEAT Prowler.

I have Thermal, it seems to mitigate it slightly.

Yeah I noticed that too, it's really annoying. Stuff like that is the main reason why I stopped playing MWO.

    EXTREMELY annoying. I hate this.

Worst change ever. I expect thermals to be combined with zoom now.

Again thanks for the feedback and comments. Can we get more spotlight on this issue please?
  17. RHINO_Mk.II

Super duper annoying change, completely undocumented, and of course:

It favors higher RoF weapons *cough*prowler*cough*
  18. Bortasz

If you want big lags than do this:

Take one TR max, witch double pounders and ad least 3 rank Lockdown.
In warpgate aim in the earth, and start firing. EVERYBODY who just will aim on this max will geth big lags.

    Explosion are broken ;/

I don't tank much, so I thought this must have been my imagination, but clearly it's not. Haven't noticed it at all in ESFs which is weird. Anyway, glad someone's bringing attention to the problem, it is incredibly annoying, especially vs rocketpods.
Frankly, I'm amazed it took forumside this long to notice and start complaining :)
  20. DeeX

It also works the other side around. You can break locks with the explosion of your HE shells
