It's entirely possible that you're experiencing the result of a corrupt data file. Ty this, run your Planetside 2 Launchpad and log in, but do not press play. Click on the Advanced Tools icon (looks like a hexagon surrounding a wrench) in the lower left and then choose the option to open game directory. In the window/folder that comes up, locate and delete the following files PlanetSide2.exe UserOptions.ini SoundSettings.xml LoadingScreen.xml InputProfiles.xml vivoxoal.dll vivoxsdk.dll Once these files are deleted, close the Planetside 2 window/folder and go back to the Launchpad > Advanced Tools/Settings menu. Click on the Validate Game Assets menu option and then press the green Validate button to have the Launchpad check your game files, and download any missing or corrupt files. If your problems persist, I would definitely suggest submitting a ticket thru our support system so we can investigate what's going on, instructions to submit a ticket can be found in my signature. Once you have a ticket submitted, go ahead and PM me the incident #, and I'll be happy to take a look when I can.

I had this problem too. Tried what was suggested, and it worked. However, at the character selection I cant log into a chosen character. EDIT: Character log in is working now after i retired logging in a couple times
The login servers are just bogged down. This has nothing to do with corrupt game files, although that could be a separate issue for some people.
I didn't want to reenter all my info, so I tried this just deleting these files: PlanetSide2.exe LoadingScreen.xml vivo*.* Fixed it for me, and I didn't have to reenter everything.
It randomly closes sometimes when i play, don't even get a "planetside2.exe has stopped working" screen...
