So as anyone who has ever played MAX should know, defending your engi is key to living when it comes to close quarters, so it'd be nice to have some tools to aid with that. Currently the only thing that comes close to defending your engineer is your own mass, and the ever so buggy Aegis Shield (not blocking bullets properly, bugging weapons, etc). So my suggestion is a sort of linking system. If anyone has played Warframe it works like Trinty's Link, except it only attaches to one engineer/non-MAX ally. To keep it somewhat reasonable, have all the damage inflicted to linked ally go to the MAX, MAX positive resistances are unapplied when the damage is done to the engineer, so there's still incentive to defend said engi, and the link will break after 5 ~ 10 metres.
