Most dedicated teamkillers have an abysmal kill death ratio. It's often times to bad that it's even below 1:1 (they die more than they kill enemies). This is because murdering your own teammates doesn't count as a kill This game has people who have characters that literally exist only to kill their own teammates. It's not always low level (BR) players either, some of them are just people who switched their main faction, or are simply just endlessly amused by killing their own team whenever they feel like it These individuals should get a weapons lock after 1 shot of friendly fire, so that they can't kill anyone. In order to work their way into being an efficient teamkiller, they'll at least have to contribute to the very same team, by killing enough hostiles to not have a negative K/D. If 1 shot is "too harsh", then at least make it 1 kill. As it is, there's nothing really stopping them from killing 3 or 4 people whenever they want, waiting a bit, and then doing it again
But uh...you know...support players that play medic and engineer don't have good K/D so...this is a pretty bad idea.
Yeah encourage K/D even more.... BTW I'm using Recursion Real Time Stat Tracker and it shows me K/D of the enemy whom I just killed (or who killed me). I'm playing on Miller and it looks like quite a lot of players on that server have K/D well below 1. I honestly doubt if all of them are dedicated team killers.
I am sensing you are quite frustrated. This game can do that to you. Anyone who had a cloaker main from original Planetside could tell you stories upon stories of endless TKs in any way fathomable, and tell you that you just need to learn to deal with them, and stick to your gameplay/style/objectives, and accept that most TKs are not premeditated, no matter how absurd they were. This game is is/was unique in that it truly is actually a MMOFPS. Stuff gets pretty hectic in this game, with a wonderfully large player base sometimes gloriously compacted in small user spaces. TKs happen all the time, but most are not intentional although it's obvious a small percentage are. I can't feel too bad for the infantry zergling waltzing down the middle of the road like he's coming home from the store swinging a loaf of bread- who plays in the middle of the street in a war zone and expects to Not get run over? Or the cloaker who manages to infiltrate into a mass of enemies and then whines and cries when somebody on his own side threw a grenade into said mass of enemies? You also cannot predict any other player's ISP or rig which surely contributes to even more unintentional TKs than original Planetside ever did. I could go on and on about the endless unintentional ways to die on Auraxis but you are speaking of "dedicated" TKers. My point is that they are a small percentage of the player base. They will get weapon locked for a determinate amount of time or even worse , (I will admit I have just started playing again since Beta and I have no idea how TK penalties work now as I only TK by accident myself). You just can't let the dillholes who repeatedly TK people get to you man, they are already on a level of teh suck you don't want any part of... but you can't punish a wide swath of players for a relatively small stripe of poopstain. This game is awesome fun but will test your patience at times, the more years you've played it the better you'll be able to laugh it off and keep playing Your game and take it out on the other 2 faction's faces. (Also running with an outfit lessens your chances of encountering buffoons on a regular basis, unless god forbid your outfit condones such idiocy). This was long-winded I know, I would apologize but I'm not the one who has the servers down. Punishing people according to K/D ratio is just a terrible idea.
BR 72 main here, lifetime k/d of 0.73. And unfortunately I TK more than I should because I am not awesome at shooters and our VS on Emerald are masters at running into a clump of NC and letting us kill each other. . When I accidentally TK, I apologize and move on. I guess you would prefer I not even play since I am a bad with an itchy mouse finger.
Oh god no. I main medic. My KD is around .4 because I used to suck. If anything like this was implemented I would call for a rez to reverse a lock. If I was weapons locked every time I ran a teammate over by accident on my racer 3 flash, I wouldnt be playing PS2.
Why would you tie K/D into that? In any case, it should take into account a TK/K ratio, or something like that.
And the 1/3 Harrasser drivers who plow through infantry to drive up a stair case so they can get to the enemy a couple of seconds sooner and pad their K/D a bit more? There probably could/should be something that looks at how many friendly kills vs enemy kills you have but using K/D as a metric for weapons lock probably isn't the way to go.
Yeah I don't think K/D is the right way to go here. Instead, they should use some formula that looks at your lifetime TK rate. Maybe TK/K ratio, or TK/Time played ratio, something like that. It would need to be adjusted taking into consideration hardcore players, because people who play this game a LOT are going to get into some accidental TK streaks eventually, or just TK accidentally more overall. Regardless, the grief system is not strict enough.
Its like this on every server. The vast majority of players have abysmal KDRs. The KDR is mostly distributed among elite infantry players and vehicle crutchers/spammers that virtually never exist as infantry.
So, my K/D is lower than 1:1, yet my TK record is really clean. Occasionally, a frag of mine will kill an enemy and a friendly. What your saying is I should have my weapons should be locked when one person runs through my line of fire and I kill them. Is this really effective to screw maybe 80% of the people it will affect?
While we are on the subject: I was looking myself up on the player site and noticed i had a bunch of TKs with my sunderer. I know i dont drive over people (i would have remembered), but sometimes if i deploy and leave it, ill get friendly fire warnings and sometimes (rarely) a friendly kill while not doing anything. My question is, WTF IS MY SUNDERER DOING WHEN IT THINKS IM NOT LOOKING
I've had that happen so many times. I deploy on a Sunderer and I end up under it. The freaking sunderer ate me! Omnomnomnom!
NOOOOOOOOOOO I rarely TK; but my KD is below 1. (doesn't mean I'm not often tempted...) You basically want to remove all the "scrub", lesser skilled etc players. Damn you, and damn the horse that brought you PS2 is already going down in numbers of players. Should I get weapons locked because you wander into my carv firing full auto into a biolab? And yes, this happens... most often I can stop firing, but often I think I should've just continued firing after this "heroic action" gets us both kileld.. Should I get weapons locked because I toss a grenade, and you decide to go play "fetch" into the enemy room? How about running people over; drive over enemy, nothing.. miss a friendly by 2m, BAM, TK message (I know, on his screen I apparantly ran him over.. well, I'm not a psychic, and I mostly don't have roadkills since I play mostly infantry, but still..) Major distinction: -Accidental TK (you ram-destroyed a friendly galaxy with 12 people inside. Auwch, but it happens..) -Repeated instances of accidental teamkill (carelessnes? ) -> current system is mostly fine; maybe weapons lock should give some penalty for all chars or something. -Intentional, repeated teamkil. Here, weapons lock is a kinda weak measure. ("ok soldier, this is the last time ever high command puts up with your crap. Here, wait a bit until you can shoot again".. uhm??) -> Doesn't have to be an eternal ban. It's a F2P game, temporary bans work fine; say you C4 three friendly tanks? 3x 24h no PS2 for you on any char.
KDR of one? A dedicated team killer is going to have a KDR closer to .01 than 1. Seriously, there is a dedicated team killer I've been watching the killboard of for months. Since February to be exact. I just looked and he is still running around team killing. There is no hope for reasonable players. NO HOPE!
or y'know, realise that the vast amount of people have played Battlefield at some point, which doesn't have friendly fire on in normal modes. so that guy who accidentally shot you in the back probably thought he was in the Metro locker isle.
All I want is a way to effectively stop enemies from logging off, creating a soldier of your faction and coming in to kill EVERYONE in the Spawn Rooms. Seriously I've had this happen so much lately!!! It used to happen before but not at this rate, it's beyond just annoying now. And then you have these idiot Medics who missed the slaughter around them who then go about REVIVING those idiots so they can TK everyone again FASTER. Not to mention some of those Medics are in fact friends with the TKer or if I kill them to stop the Revive in time, they then assume THAT I AM A TKer AND TK ME back... FFS!! Oh and those switching ****Lords do it to blow up Sundies as well. What is this BS SOE? Seriously? What even...!??
