Emerald Has Turned Me Into A Curmudgeon

You really do man; honestly. I haven't given a Higby about organizing, squad'n up, joining a platoon, or outfit ops for many many months. Every time I join a squad all of my stats go down and I have less fun. Often times it's just blind leading the blind doing stupid stuff that makes no sense and I'm like the only one saying "hey we should flank them" or "guys that fight is lost, redeploy, fall back with me, pull AP tanks, and lets go kill their sunderer while they are all farming the spawn room" or "uuuhhhh... we don't even have a link here because they back-capped the last baste." It's like ..WTH am I grouped up with you guys again?

The only time I group up are with people on my friends list. They are awesome, we have a blast, and with a small squad you can actually coordinate together and be effective. We have a lot of fun and my stats go UP!

Just look for good fights and go have fun. Ignore alerts, if it makes strategic sense, if it helps your faction or not... just look for good fights and go there. I find fights with < 24 on each side and somewhat balanced. You'll find likeminded people there who are there for a good fight and not to win as fast as possible. Heck I even call over /y "don't blow up the sunderer! this is a great fight! lets enjoy it!" and often times it works. We can enjoy a fun, small, fight that's more about tactics than population. Sure you get the occasional tryhard who mines the sunderer and we all admonish him over /y or the Higby who comes over with an ESF or lib crew who Higby's all over our fun. In the end though you enjoy more good fights. This is the whole game to me now and I'm having a blast.

To all the scrubs with Higby stats who will no doubht say stats don't matter.... that's because your stats suck. They are clear indicators on your effectiveness. If you are having fun at being ineffective that's fine; enjoy it. Don't tell me they are meaningless though. When leaders are telling us to do stupid stuff resulting in more deaths, less kills, no captures, and my stats reflect that... I'm not having fun. I'm deing a lot and not killing my enemies enough. I came here to kill other players not take orders from some nerd who doesn't really know what the Higby is going on.

There are the rare leaders who are great to game with. I've enjoyed some well ran platoons (shout out to old EGO, TRAF, QPRO leaders!). They are so few and far between now though that it's just an excersize in frustration trying to find one. I try to lead my own squads and dudes just don't listen and can't keep up. I'm not the type of guy who just pushes down the lane "cuz lattice". I'm hopping all over the continent and jumping continents constnatly because I'm chasing down good fights. If you won't listen or are all pissy because that vehicle you just pulled is going to waste then I'm not the guy for you. I'm sure I'm coming off as some elitist Higby but I assure you I'm very calm and nice over squad comms... ppl just don't listen. Half them don't even have their damn sound on or own a mic.

Solo play is the only way TBH. A very small squad can be a lot of fun too but it's because we are likeminded solo players working together. Once you get 12+ people in a group it's like the collecive IQ drops to single digits. I can't even compel people to do the most basic stuff like pull AA to deal with the aircraft, put claymores at choke points near objectives, redeploy and pull AP tanks to take out sunderers.

There's something seriously wrong with players when you have 48+ at a facility and you're the only one putting claymores at doorways on the generators.

It's hard to explain how being coordinated and effective is bad but it is. It was super frustrating and annoying when TIW was doing it constantly during prime time. You'd be in a close fight, just barely getting the upperhand, and TIW gal drops + redeploys in and squashes you like bugs then redeploys to do the same elsewhere. It would happen a few times in a row sometimes! They would leave, we get back to the fight, again about to win... TIW storms in and steamrols us 3:1.

We never heard the end of it all year when TR was stupid over popped and had OP Strikers. They steamrolled everyone everywhere. People avoided fighting them. It was frustrating to be on the receiving end of it and frankly boring on the TR side.

This is frankly why Buzzcutphsyco and TE left. They were too damn effective. It's so easy to just drop in a huge amount of players and crush your enemy. All it took was effective leadership all through the chain of command and soliders who actually listened.

So yeah, right now the VS is good... too good... and it's annoying to fight them.

Maybe we need an elite MLG PRO server where all these good players can go and fight eachother. Then the rest of us casuals can enjoy our chaotic plebian skirmishies. Lets face it.... there's a reason other sports seperate by skill and/or class. Why don't we let college football play against pro football? Wouldn't it be awesome watching all those college dorks get smashed by pros? Isn't it fun to see them wining? Should be great right?

I mostly play solo. Occasionally joining a pub platoon to help them with air strikes. People talk on the mics too much"
  5. MorganM

I did and I loved it. I was 80 something when I switched from TR to VS and played to BR 56 there. THen went TR again for a while. Then played NC to BR 56.

It's honestly quite refreshing, fun, and interesting. You get a unique perspective of the game too. Really puts into persective peoples rants on certain weapons. You'll quickly be able to tell who's just a butt-hurt scrub looking for excuses and who has a legitimate argument.

Soon as I hit BR 100 on TR I'm switching again. So sick of TR and ither Higby weapons.
  6. MorganM

Ya it's easy to see why some ppl are sore loosers. However sore winners? Wish they would all go jump off a bridge together. I want to punch these kids who just won a fight by out-popping us 3:1 and talk trash over /y about how good they are and how bad we are.

I even call out my own faction if I see them doing it. It's completely out of line and unacceptable.
  7. MorganM

Yes YES YES! Frankly this is why I left TR for a couple months during their "haydays" Being an overpopped zerg was BOOOOOOOORING! Shelling spawn rooms and watching timers count down... wow ... that's such epic gameplay man!

We need more Ronin Oni and less Magdum Dorkus on Emerald... I think that's Shrapnel's main point here.
  8. MorganM

Honestly you're not the problem. What you are doing isn't what is pissing people off.
  9. MorganM

    TR BR 95
    VS BR 60
    NC BR 58

Now you can go play TR and NC past BR 50. Let us know how much fun it was getting dunked on "a couple of times" a day every day you play.
  10. MorganM

So much truth. Sadly trolls thrive on this stuff and it fuels their trolling.

Mayhaps it's you who doesn't get it? I've played here since release and been in lots of outfits accross all 3 factions. Some of them were great! All of the great ones are gone now. I tried to join back up with them and they are dead. Some left the game and some have switched factions. I've noticed more than a few good palyers I enjoyed being in an outfit and squad'n up are now VS. Maybe there's some good TR or NC outfits left but I haven't found them.

The rare times I do join platoons ran by these current outfits.... nothing has compelled me to join them. In fact it's made me less and less likely to even join a platoon with these people.

Lone wolf and love it. You just have to know how to play as a lone wolf and how to find good fights. Only good squads left to me are people on my friends list and less than 6 people in the squad.

Only exceptions I've seen in the last few months:
    Surefyre's platoons are a blast.
Devestator can run some great platoons.

That's litteraly it... I can't think of a single good platoon leader worth mentioning I've ran with in the last 6 months.

Dude protip for being MLG on the forums, there's an edit button at the bottom of each post so you don't have to make like 10 posts in a row, damn man
  13. miraculousmouse

I agree. Small squad play is the way to go in this game if you want to get any kills as infantry. Big platoons provide nothing but meat for the grinder, and the only reason they will "win" is because they'd have exhausted the enemy.
  14. TheShrapnelKing

    **** off.
  15. TheShrapnelKing

No no, stop right there. Ok, my outfit will win. But if we've already established I'm not going to personally cause us to win more, then the effect is no different. Whether I'm in or out of it, that outfit is going to win/lose that battle regardless of whether I'm in it.
  16. TheShrapnelKing

Yeah but just directly quoting each post he wants to respond to is easier than pasting it all into one post.
  17. xDesideratus

Shrapnel: "Guys I hate losing and accomplishing nothing while the winners gloat!"
Literally Everyone: "JOIN AN OUTFIT DUDE, JESUS"
Shrapnel: "No that definitely won't fix it, despite the obvious consensus"

Man pattern recognition really, really is not your strong suit.
  18. TheShrapnelKing

No, you don't ******* get it. Why does no one understand what I'm saying?

Let's go over this again: I am not god. Therefore, my presence is not going to affect whether an outfit wins a battle. Therefore, whether I'm part of an outfit or not, that outfit, and the NC in general, will still continue to generally lose to the VS. My being there won't change it. Get this through your heads.
  19. xDesideratus

If you want a game where you personally will have a large impact on any fight, PlanetSide is not the game for you, so instead of whining just uninstall and go play something that's a smaller scale. If you want to accomplish anything in PS2, join an outfit.

As it is, you're trying really hard to hammer a square peg into a round hole, complaining all the while that it doesn't fit.
  20. TheShrapnelKing

That's not a response. Explain why I'm wrong. If you're implying that being in an outfit means that, since outfits are more organized, I will be part of more battles that my faction wins, I don't give a **** about that, because I could have just gone over there and been part of the winning team anyway. Meanwhile, in general, the faction is still losing. So yippeekiyay we won most of the bases my outfit went to (which, note, we would have won even if I wasn't there), the NC is still losing.
