Elite ESF flyers that use mouse/keyboard?

Anyone know if there are elite ESF players that use mouse/keyboard, or is a joystick basically a requirement to any high level play?

Before anyone posts about ESF's being for scrubs/noobs, while I don't like them and much prefer infantry to anything else in this game.... I've seen some pretty impressive flying in videos. There's definitely a skill cap/ceiling that's fairly high in the ESF's. Can anyone link me a video of someone good flying using mouse/keyboard?

joystick for esf ? Oh you're trolling...

I see videos where people are turning in their ESFs and have perfect aim on an emeny that is also "Banking".

I am a terrible pilot but I just cant hold aim like that so steady with the mouse, I could hit maybe a couple of shots but not all of them. So as OP said I would also like to know if most high lvl pilots use M&KB or Joystick.

keyboard mouse.... It feels weird at 1st but it is the way.
:) I looked like i was having seizures in the air for a few days.

I don't think it's even possible to use a joystick atm.

if you can't put your mouse on target you could adjust vehicule sensivity in settings... you cannot currently assign joystick naturally in planetside 2 you need to use unsupported software and smedley said if you get caught it's your own fault ... So play with your stick at your own risk.

I was like a lot of people for the first few days. I regularly fat fingered "E" and often died an embarrassing suicide death before I even got out of the warpgate :D

Then I used LA for a bit to at least save on the suicide. Now I can use Engy like evrybody else. Although I don't fly too often as it gives me chronic motion sickness.

Flying was pretty much what I did for most of my playing time in Planetside 1 in the last couple of years and I never had the sickness problem. I don't know what it is with PS2. I've tried adjusting FOV, but nothing stops the profound nausea that I get. Sometimes it comes after just a couple of minutes, sometimes after 20-30 minutes. But it always happens.

The mouse and keyboard provide a greater since of control.

Binding keys to Pitch up/down (I use mouse thumb buttons) makes a huge difference compared to mouse scrolling for quick turns.

Most pilots will turn their sensitivity settings up so that they get a better overall response time. That's probably why it seems like they have no trouble keeping the sights over a target. I know the default settings for vehicle turning make you sluggish as hell. Should try turning the sensitivity up and getting used to the increased movement,

It is possible but there's no point. Mouse + keyboard works much better.

I'm using a Thrustmaster Hotas X at the moment. For an ESF it's hell to try to hit anything, that's for sure. However, for a liberator or a galaxy I love the controls.

I have not tried binding the pitch to a key. I will try this today.... currently my biggest problem is looping up/diving down to a full loop. I have to lift the mouse in the middle of the loop which causes a pause/delay that I don't see in good flying videos, must be they have pitch mapped to a key. Thanks.
  15. Ronaldspiers

Ahh thanks mate I will definitely give this a shot :)

I use M&K, and though I wouldn't call myself elite, I'm pretty handy with a mossy. Usually the only time I lose a dogfight is when someone is using A2A missiles or I get attacked by several enemy fighters at once.

I think it's pretty easy to fly with a M&K, but I see a lot of people go down in a blaze of glory. Most before they leave the warpgate. lol

I am no elite by any means, but mouse and keyboard are perfect for me. And i keep sensetivity relatively low (to my taste) to allow more precise aiming. Sad thing is you can not turn negative acceleration off.

    Elite?? lol

I love how Smed promised Joystick support would be added before release but it never was (and its not on the horizon) but yet tells people they could be banned for using software that fixes their mistake. Typical SOE.

I'm a pretty awesome ESF pilot and I use mouse/keyboard. One thing you would like to change in the options is reverse up and down.
