dumbfire RL's need a buff

    I personally think that dumbfires need a velocity buff, 1 more spare rocket, a side mounted (how do you stick your neck up there anyway?) 1.5x zoom sight, and (after reading this thread) a fix for the damage resist values. Maybe decrease damage by 75 or something to compensate.

    Why any army would use such a weapon I don't know. A faster moving rocket that does the same damage to armor but 75% less damage to infantry? :confused: The kinetic energy of the rocket alone would punch a big hole through the infantry guy never mind the explosion.

    Dawg you quoted the wrong post, or you misinterpreted my "reduce the damage by 75" comment. I meant literally reduce base damage by 75 points, not percent.

    They are very good at clearing maxes.

    Considering the ttk of guns in this game, hitting with rocket and then switching to pistol/smg is not farfetched as a means to kill. You also have to remember that its splash can knock down 500 hp. So against groups it could work well. The amount of hs's to kill in this game is, depending on your weapon, at least 4 headshots for full auto weapons. You have a lot more OHK weapons and 2 headshots kill people from ARs/LMGs in BF. The TTK in ps2 is much longer, especially when you consider cof, than most modern shooters. This includes BF series, CS, and CoD. So arguing that other modern games have ohk RLs or more OHK weapons is pretty moot.

    Last time I checked, maxes are in a different class than infantry.

    Bad company 2 has a OHK RL and it has about the same TTK I believe.

    The point I was making with regards to maxs is infantry can form a screen for maxs if rockets aren't OHK to infantry. You can't snipe that engineer healing the max with your RL and the max can block bullets from hitting the engineer. If the max blocks a rocket it takes 5k effective damage. The engineer could step in front of the max and take a rocket that would have done 5k effective damage to the max and instead do less than 1k damage to the engineer. The game would inevitably turn into a max grind stalemate with c4 suicide bombers similar to the engineers in TF1 doing suicide runs with grenades on warpath.

    Besides all this OHK RL is not an epidemic in this game. I am rarely killed by a RL. Your kill board says 2 of your last 100 deaths on your vanu character was from RL. The lmg is in most cases a better choice than the RL. The RL is only effective at flushing out sniper nests/firing for effect which modern rpgs do and killing maxs and their support as far as an AI weapon goes.
