Those things could use a better ironsight (or better yet, side-mounted reflex with mil-dots) so that we don't have to fire blindly, but everything else seems fine, IMHO.

Decimator could use the AP effect of the tank cannons for all the trouble with longer reload and worse trajectory.
  3. huller

i would say trade in all splash dammage radius and give it the AP dammage, it isn't as if the decimator isn't supposed to be a shaped charge AP launcher.

    oh wait.

what do you mean by AP damage, it already does more damge than MBT or Lighting AP. It just reloads slower.

Dedicated dumbfire here. Definitely feel nerfed. And definitely agree with your post.

That would negate the reason why we dumbfire, and develop timing and range skills, is for extra damage to reward that skill.
Also it is versatile, and helps flush out or damage snipers or long-range firers from their entrenched positions (providing you have the range finding skills to hit them at that far a distance).
  6. Cougarbrit

Apparently the default RL does 1275 damage to sundies but the AV lockon does the full 1500. Is this correct? If so, wtf.
  7. Lamat

I use rocket launchers a lot, and I don't think they need a buff.

The only change might be bonus damage to harassers :p
  8. ent|ty

Don't think so, the lock on variants usually cause less damage per shot, to account for their noobness of use.
  9. Crayv

Sundies and Harassers both take full damage from lock on launchers. Which makes the Striker super effective against both of them.
  10. Cinnamon

    True.

Lockons, including G2A lockon in dumb fire mode, get no damage resist to sunderers and 15% bonus to harasser. Dumb fires get 25% resist to sunderer and no bonus to harasser but get large multiplier to ESF.
  11. mpal

Honestly, dumb fires should get a 75% damage decrease in damage to infantry. **** is cheesy as hell that it one shots infantry and its not an AI weapon. If you get caught with your dumb fire out against infantry, you should pay the price for having poor situational awareness rather than an easy kill.
  12. WTSherman

Honestly, I wouldn't mind a little more projectile speed and a slightly flatter trajectory on my dumbfire so that its useful range is extended a bit.

That would make the Phoenix even less useful though. :(
  13. TheMercator

Ever read the description of that thing?

"The ML-7 Launches unguided rockets that are effective against both infantry and armor."

So I picked up the Decimator. Pretty underwhelming so far. It's not more difficult, I can still hit the shots fine but it just doesn't feel like it has any more oomph. I still feel like I'm in the same position.

On another topic I noticed in this forum, the harassers shouldn't be able to take any more than 2 rockets... it's a little dune buggy, come on!
  16. mpal

So by effective you mean one shots them? I didnt realize weapons that didn't one shot infantry arent considered effective against them. By reducing direct damage against infantry such that it knocks their shields down and a little health with a direct hit, is that not effective? It would also make flak a more viable option since the majority of the damage will then come from the splash, rather than the alpha from the rocket.

I love these TF2 guys that think its so skillful to kill infantry with dumbfires. I have a news flash for you, it isnt.

Ignore the other guy who clearly has never used the Striker and does not understand it's role.

The Striker, like many other rocket launchers, is mainly a deterrent weapon when used by one person/a small group, but becomes highly deadly when used in large groups. Alone, it is difficult to take down a target (esp. fast vehicles) and using it against tanks is f***ing ridiculous compared to non-lock-on launcher, even at range.

What does need to be fixed is it's strange neglection of smoke and flares.

Note: theoretically, you could go 2500 damage, but you have to fire 5 rockets, after attaining a lock while your targets stay both within range and line of sight. I have hit all 5 rockets only while an aircraft was slow (e.g. Lib) or hovering and in the open (almost miss most of the time), but it is VERY rare when playing on the Connery server were the skill pool seems higher than other servers (imo).
  18. DreamlessLiberty

If a direct hit didn't one shot infantry it wouldn't be effective against infantry because it has a 5 second reload and it takes time to switch to main weapon so unless you rocket snipe, land a direct hit, then revolver snipe without dying and you somehow stay on your target without them killing you first or popping a medkit or getting sniped by someone else since rocket trajectories are a huge giveaway to a persons position it would be ineffective against infantry and as a result maxs would indirectly get a buff since they get a stronger infantry screen against rockets. Also if you have ever played TF2 you aim for the feet in that game with an auto rocket launcher rather than aim for a direct hit with a 5 second one shot reload rocket launcher against people who use weapons with considerably higher precision than those used in TF2. As far as I know only games with high precision automatic weapons like PS2 and BF use OHK direct hit long reload rocket launchers. TF2 does have a rocket launcher called the direct hit which is pretty much only good for killing turrets.
  19. Hoki

The standard dumbfires could use a rocket speed buff, they're already faster and straighter but its still hard to hit anything but a slow moving cow with them.

They are also the only decent anti-infantry rockets.
  20. The King

Would be deadly to MAXes and infantry....
It'll be friendlier to new players using it, but not so much for new players or old players facing it.
It'll be what many call "DumbFireSide 2" or something like that...

A speed buff, like Hoki mentioned would be the best buff it can receive that is reasonable.
