dumbfire RL's need a buff

I'm good with the S1 on VS. I'm good with the Shrike on NC. Hitting the target isn't a problem for me because I've honed the skill of understanding the flight path and the enemy's next move. So why doesn't my time and skill get rewarded with a more powerful shot than some POS lock on that some jerk off can pick up for 7 bucks?

I know the lock ons do less dmg, I'm not saying nerf them, I'm asking for a buff on the RL's that take patience and precision.

If you have the skill to get the shots to count, it should actually count for more than some silly lock on gizmo. I feel like heavy assault is more for room clearing/tanking than an anti tank solution.

    So you want a decimator?

Look to the Decimator, which does more damage, and has the exact same rocket flight path of the default launchers.

And as a bonus since its an NS weapon if you buy it with SC then its unlocked on all your characters regardless of faction.

honestly I wouldn't mind seeing the stock rocket launchers get two shots in a clip, would make them friendlier to new players, and make them actually have a reason to exist over the decimator, and the lock ons that you can dumbfire anyway.

well the idea was that the stock ones have one more rocket you can carry. it's pretty stupid indeed, since you can find ammo anywhere and if you're footzerging alone hunting stuff with your rocket launcher, you're doing it very wrong anyway.

2 rockets in the default dumbfire (assuming no damage change) would make driving tanks near infantry even more suicidal...

From a pure balance standpoint, you sacrifice the lockon capability (which effectively extends range and reliability) for only 200 extra damage (500 extra if you want to sacrifice ~50 m/s velocity as well).

This is not enough to make them even in my opinion. The extra effective range and reliability of the lockons severely outclasses the bonus 200 direct hit damage, which makes them a direct upgrade. The only situation where dumb fire rocket launchers are superior is at close range or from behind, which is undesirable or improbable to begin with.

Suggest a buff of -0.7s reload time and +14m/s velocity to all dumb fire rocket launchers. +1 ammo wouldn't hurt either.

These buffs reduce the penalty of missing; reduce the chance of missing, which happens more often compared to lockons, and allows a single soldier to have more damage potential, which buffs the 'solo' aspect of these launchers.

Throw in a second or so delay between shots so tanks can react, and cut damage down damage a bit, idk. Tanks are in a really awkward spot in this game anyway and if I went on a tangent about how tanks should be I'd be typing for a while, and I'd rather avoid that lol.

GU14 sees the lock on mechanic changed (fingers crossed), so we may see people going for the greater benefits of dumbfire.

I think the decimator does bonus damage to armor. That or it hits the top armor rather than the front. The stock rocket launcher is good at killing maxs. Lock-on launchers are good at killing tanks at long range and air.

Dumbfires don't need a buff. They kill a max in two shots and infantry in one. The red reticle thing probably makes killing infantry in melee range with a rocket launcher to easy but that situation hasn't arose for me yet since the last GU.

I like the clip of two idea but it has to be nerfed against infantry if this were to happen.

I'm concerned that first with the C4 nerf, and then with a lockon changes, the role of vehicles in the game is going to be increased to the point that it becomes a vehicle war with infantry as an afterthought.

I'm not good at this game. I need a lockon to hit anything. I even saved up the cert points and bought the anti-ground lockon because it's the only way I can really hit stuff from a distance.
  14. DreamlessLiberty

Double barreled rocket launcher :D. They should add one for the HA with one rocket laser guided and the other dumbfire and both fire simultaneously.
  15. VanuSovereignty

Yeah tanks are weird. To be quick about it however, do you believe that tanks should be less frequent, more powerful?
  16. Selentic

If I was designing them, I'd make them a vehicle that required multiple people to operate, and buff their front and side armor to absorb significantly more damage than they can now to make flanking them, or bombing them from the sky the most effective method of dealing with them.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't the current Decimator have lower projectile velocity, in addition to one less rocket carried?

    It does.

AT/AA rockets do 1500 damage, but leave you helpless against either AA or AT.
The Annihilator, which can lock on to both, does only 1200 damage, which is frankly speaking pathetic.

But most importantly, neither of lock-on launchers can dumbfire, which is as much of a blessing as it is a curse, as it lets you use the RL against infantry to great effect.

Admittedly, I had overlooked damage to maxes. After considering more pieces I haven't a damn clue what I want anymore :) I'll try the deci, survived the jump from PS1 to PS2, should be good :D I just want to kill tanks when they come about without finding a tank spawning pad.

I am however in favor of the PS1 style, 1 driver and 1 or 2 gunners needed to operate a tank. Maybe add a 3 second seat transition time to avoid people soloing it.

    Decimator is a must.
