Drifter Jump Jets, how did they affect gameplay?

    It literally takes about 5 ish more seconds to get up high anyway. People are just inept and can't think 3 dimensionally and can't make use of momentum or their environment.



    Even wrel is good with them lol.

    I think that(my revision) is more accurate, since the time it takes to set up what you've described can vary pretty greatly.

    Again, I'm not denying the advantages of using drifters, I'm just explaining why people choose jump jets over them. Drifters require a different mindset that may or may not be inline with how the player wants to play. I think most players don't enjoy the drifter playstyle.

    Was playing on Amerish the other day and the enemy faction was using drifters to great effect on vehicles. They would fly high above the crowds, drop their light assault and move on. Vehicles focused on the galaxy's while the light assault ever so slowly drifted down from the skies a time later and used their explosives to break a stalemate in vehicle play. If I had a 3rd person camera it would have made a great movie clip. Salute to the NC coordinating these drifter attacks and pulling them off in style.

    Just so no one misses it. A guy with 49 minutes play session and 985 kills (and only 400 certs?)

    On topic: for me the new drifters completely changed the LA warfare. They went from a some situations only ability to an all purpose one. It isn't necessarily to have a grav lift anymore. They outperform the normal jets when measuring time/hight on large distances and can reach higher without supports present. They allow slingshot manoeuvres that, in optimal conditions, throw you 3 hexes, making your own high precision drop facility. They allow for some crazy other manoeuvres from high places like red ridge or attacking Tarwick. In addition to all this they can gain "running" bonuses. They can just float quickly over surfaces without slowing down or having the run pebatly when shooting or knifing. You only have to content with a large COF, so shotguns or stop to fire.
    It's ability to climb walls is great but slow. traversing walls quickly is important, but I use this power only more or less safe places, making it's downside not so bad.

    whenever im flying an esf i just use stock jets on my LA

    i only run drifters if im A) flying over tank columns or B) bailing over tank columns

    Even better. Let the ejection system fail. If you try to exit your aircraft in mid-air, there's only a (percentage of health remaining) chance it will actually work, and you won't know about it until you try.

    When I do switch back to regular jets, it takes a while to get out of the habit of running for any bit of high ground like a heavily armed flying squirrel.

    Bailing out of an ESF with a light assualt is the lamest cheese in the game.

    Earlier i had some guy on fire. While im reloading he jumped out of the plane, shot it with his gun and then managed to redeploy even though i managed to score a few hits on him.

    Stupid mechanic that needs to be fixed.

    If you dont have an ejection seat equiped then you should instantly die when bailing from an ESF or Lib and automatically the last person to damage you should get the kill.

    This crap is no different than suiciding to deny kills or logging out to pad K/D.
