Does the TR have an identity crisis?

Sounds beautiful, brings a tear to my eye and a mangled mess to the floor of our bases... we should really clean up the base after we smash the hell out of NC and VS agressors
  2. maxkeiser

LOL! have you played NC recently?

NC is the easy mode now. The weapons are godlike.
  3. Tycoh

Skip to 1:05 and point and laugh at how they rally TR with the last words of "You have failed the Republic!"

I just watched this today and was astounded by it until i heard that last part for the TR rally speech.

You've got to agree that VS weapons are easier than NC weapons though. You can get nearly at least 1/3 more kills with VS weapons than you can get with NC or especially TR. Although this doesn't apply for everyone but using VS weapons over TR weapons is does a huge improvement of KDR.

Sorry, I feel like I need to correct something in here (and prove how big of a total tool I am!). Right, so, I may be off here, but isn't the TR faction trait of more bullets 33%, not 25%? Since NC and VS have 30, and we have 40, that would make 30 the standard, meaning 30*1.34=40.2. J...just thought I'd correct that, it irks me to no end. I mean, I can see where the 25% comes from, yes, since you guys, NC and VS, have 25% less bullets than us, but that doesn't mean we have 25% more. Anyway this was a bit off topic, back on with the discussion.

Interesting fun fact about our faction trait of more bullets... We also have the longest reloads, which in ALSO counter-productive to that bonus (much like Lock Down is to faster moving tanks). In fact, on the AR front, we average out about 33% longer reloads than the NC*, and the averaged short reload for TR assault rifles is also higher than the NC's average long reload.** Though those numbers are much better on the Carbine end***, and I didn't feel like looking up the reload speeds of LMGs, so, there may be some bias at play, but I, at the very least, think it's an interesting number.

*Even longer compared to the VS, but if we assume a VS faction trait to faster reloading then NC would be the standard to compare to.
**removing the burst variants, they are TR Short AVG: 2.84, TR Long AVG: 3.728, NC Short AVG: 2.143, NC Long AVG: 2.773
***~24% longer short reload speed, ~30% longer long reload speed

I have major problems with the concept:

A - heat seekers blip to the first vehicular target that pass in range, regardless of faction, so you're going to wind up hitting friendly vehicles all the damn time. (And when you're driving GET hit all the damn time)
B - Utterly, utterly skill-less, pop up, dump the whole clip vaguely at the target drop down to reload whilst the rockets are still in flight, at least the sustained lock on mechanic hinders its spamability, you gotta keep aiming at the thing till the last rocket hits, wire-guided would retain this.
C - The strikers primary problem is it's mono-dimensional and boring, spending LESS time aiming is not the solution to this.
D - More spam brings the whine, if TR can just spam striker rockets that auto lock and don't give lock warnings at oncoming armour the torrent of bile from the other 2 factions will be overwhelming (with good reason IMO), it would quickly get nerfed into the ground.
E- Firing round corners or over walls at an angle that'll hit the tank that's just there but doesn't expose the user to return fire OR make them stand there like a defenseless lemon like the TV missile does all the while retaining a much higher dps than any other launcher ...... :S.

So, its either me, or all SOE can think of to give the Terran Republic are variants, variants of stuff we already have.

    The Marauder's a Fury variant.

The Inquisitor is an Emperor variant (Also, by god the most useless pistol in the entire game)

The Vulcan's a Basilisk variant (More or less, also, incredibly useless compared to other ES anti-armor options)

The Striker was always an Annihilator variant. up until the nerf, which made it worse then the Annihilator.

    We're getting a Zephyr variant.

    I'm onto you guys.

You actually want the TR to quit the game out of frustration.

I never heard TR who want to quit out of frustration when they weapons performed way better than NS variants.
I agree the zephyr variant sucks
  10. Ash87

This is a popular, but really meaningless debate.

The Jackhammer is just a PAS varient.

The C85 and Airhammer are the same

    The ML85 is a halberd

The Fracture is just the Comet

The Orion is just the MSRW
    etc. etc. etc.

The only truly UNIQUE weapons in this game, from where I am sitting are the Lasher and when it comes out, the Shade. In a pinch, I'd say the MCG, but I am also not really a fan of that one.

That was the problem, That is all we had.

Now they nerfed them so they are all useless without give us a reason to use them.

Making us just a NS faction. If they needed to nerf them that is fine, But they shouldn't just make them worthless give us a reason to use them

No it's not a meaningless debate, and it's a popular one because there is a lot of truth to it.

Jackhammer is the best infantry shotgun out there. Compare that to the MCG which doesn't offer much utility over the Carv and many see it as worse than our LMG's.

ML85 was a reskinned Halberd, but was changed into a rapid fire/ semi auto rocket launcher which gives it a different feel. It's also the best AV secondary out there, and at least is very competitive with the Halberd.

I'm not sure why you don't think the TR should become less bland is a meaningful topic Ash, but it's disappointing to hear from a fellow TR.

Well obviously. Before the weapons were Powerful + Boring/ Bland = *shrugs* I guess it's pretty good, but it leaves something to be desired.

Now it's Balanced/UP + Boring/Bland = Why should I even pull the weapon at all?

Our guns need a major sound over haul like the following, kinda like how the VS weapons got one.

The Prowler needs a design over haul at least for its turret. Honestly though the tank itself has a truly half *** design and it looks like a lunch box. Some of the tank cosmetics that came out for the Prowler don't even fit the tank's hull appropriately.

Vulcan+Marauder+ upcoming Zypher variant+ Striker= SOE Laziness to give us something cool, versatile, and fun. Instead of our ESRL being a lock on why can't it fire coyote missiles or fire a ton of mini fracture rockets for instance?

I think it's a meaningless debate, because it's a problem for all the factions. We're not exactly special snowflakes in this department, but people seem to think we are. Guns like the Shade are what need to be pushed, because it is a UNIQUE weapon. People need to be behind that thing 120% because supporting Newer ideas is what will get All the factions a much deserved look at the weapons.

Marauder is boring yes. Used to be an upgraded fury now I don't know what it is.

I think vulcan is fun enough in design. Spin up for exceptional ROF. Weather it performs nowdays is a different question. Having it a be a short range weapon and put it on a vehicle that is operating at long range is not good.

Striker was a boring idea true. I thought it would get dumbfire which could make a bit fun but when that was shown to be false my interest for it was gone. A boring weapon to use and boring to be the victim of.

The TR bellygun doesn't sound much fun either but I think the same for the venu. Both are just modified zephers. Venu's get a TR trademark spin up effect without limit.

I think jackhammer is almost good enough in design. Unique burst shot is nice. Having bigger magazine and smaller spread than all the others (and no slugs hurf lurf) is fun but just an upgrade. Some more uniquness it should have but I don't know what.

I like the aircraft shotgun cannon design, it's just underpowered. Tank mounted shotgun is a lot worse in functionality but almost fun design.

Enforcer I thought of as being too close to saron. I always thought enforcer was the most bland weapon in the game. Somehow saron is more fun. Old enforcer was even worse since it was almost identical to halberd. Current one is a lot different from halberd.

Fracture and comet are different enough. Falcon, comet, fracture and pounder are all cannons but I think they are different enough. Well falcon used to be a cannon.

Infantry weapons are quite similar but I don't know how much difference you can have there.
  15. Fortress

It's pretty hard to play a faction whose guns sound like a bunch of skittles rattling in a toilet paper roll.
  16. Pikachu

    Oh I forgot:
There's no quit in a TR soldier.

    Vanu soveriegnty-
Pros: No bullet drop, fast reload-Total:2
    Cons: High first shot multiplier-Total:1
    Terran Republic-
    Pros: 25% magazine capacity-Total:1
Cons: High Horizontal Recoil (harder to counter than vertical), Slow Reload-Total:2
    New Conglomerate-
Pros: High damage, Less horizontal recoil, Low first shot multiplier-Total:3
Cons: Slow RoF, High vertical recoil-Total:2

    Pro to con ratio: NC-3:2- VS-2:1- TR-1:2-

From the information you provided, this is not balanced. One faction is in the red (no pun intended) where as the others have more strong than weak points.

Are you really seriously counting the types of pros/cons?

I suppose you have no problem giving my favorite faction the Super Disadvantaged Nuclear Missile, which does this:
    • CON: I have to be stationary to fire.
    • CON: 1 shot per magazine.
    • CON: No additional shots after the first magazine.
    • CON: No XP for kills.
    • CON: It costs 25 infantry resources.
    • CON: Must control Vanu Archives to acquire.
    • CON: The CoF is bad.
    • CON: The projectile is slow.
    • CON: The projectile takes a full second before it detonates.
    • CON: Takes a long time to fire one round (3-sec buildup)
    • CON: Makes a loud noise while firing
    • CON: High recoil.
    • CON: User left stationary for 2 full seconds after firing.
    • CON: User usually dies when using it.
    • PRO: Blast radius of 1000m
    • PRO: Damage works through walls and terrain
    • PRO: Only damages enemies.
    • PRO: Enough damage to instantly kill everything.
I mean with 14 disadvantages and only 4 pros, this must be a pretty crappy weapon, right?
  19. Jayy

Yes, I did count the pros and cons. However, unlike you I didn't make up any new ones. I'm simply recounting the information he provided and from that information refuting a statement he made. Because the cons (listed by him) were outnumbered by the pros (also listed by him) this made one faction stand out as the only one who's cons outnumbered their pros which off-sets the "balance". Again all this is done according to his logic. Obviously you missed the point of my post.
  20. Drakatth

The TR should be the tanky guys, with lots of armor and less damage, because they are a world government that governs by force. The NC should be the agile guys, because they are rebels, and the VS should deal more damage because of their alien technology.
