Does Auraxium weapons get easier over time?

I just got to 160 kills on default VS LA carbine the Solstice VE3? and want to auraxium it but once I saw the huge gap between 160 & 1160 yeah I don't think I can do it. Next questions

Is it fun to auraxium or is it a massive chore?
Can you auraxium in one day? FrightfulCookie did five in one day (no way in hell am I trying that)
Did I already ask what's your favorite auraxium?

On average I play for a couple hours 6 out 7 days and average 3 kills per death (pro). At that pace how long would it take?

Personally, I wouldn't dive into an Auraxium with full steam, just get them naturally and it'll be much more enjoyable. At your rate, you'll get it pretty fast though if you keep at it. In terms of fun... that depends on the weapon itself, and of course user preference. You could Auraxium in one day but that would be a hell of a long session, or a collection of a bunch of great kill streaks... assuming you start from 0 kills and grind the 1160.

Just stick with the weapon, use it and don't think about the auraxiums, think of how you can make the weapon work.

I have auraxed every shotgun available on the LA and am doing the last two carbines that you can buy with certs/aren't remakes of a model I already auraxed, and it's worth it. You get to learn different playstyles and don't get stuck in a rut. I had weapons that seemed to suck big time and had my K/D drop to 0,5 until by the end of my auraxium I was winning 1v3's with it and was sad to see the weapon go as I immediately switched to the next one.
Don't worry about your K/D, personally I do around 2.2K/D and even if I reached only 1 K/D it would be fine, since as an LA I'm usually in the middle of my enemies rather than safely with my allies around a chokepoint. And there's a million ways to farm K/D in PS2, so there's really no reason to compare it unless you know people's playstyle and the average K/D for that playstyle. If someone always uses a HA and walks with friendly Zergs 90% of the time he's more likely to have a high K/D than someone who is constantly trying to take down enemy MAX's and vehicles. That doesn't mean the HA with high K/D is better, in fact the opposite is often just as likely in PS2.

Your kills per death is pretty much irrelevant to how quickly you'll aurax. What matters is your kills per minute. Your KPM on the Solstice is 0.347. At that rate it will take you 3341 minutes to complete the Auraxium, or 57 hours.

However, that's only counting the time when you're deployed with the Solstice equipped. You also have to account for time when you're in game but not deployed, or deployed without the Solstice equipped. This means an absolute minimum of about 60 hours (if you spam spawn as soon as you're on the map screen and don't use any weapon other than Solstice), but more realistically 70+ hours.

Thus, if you play twelve hours per week as you indicated, it will take you at least five weeks to Auraxium at the current KPM, and probably more like 6 weeks.

It gets easier and I've also binged it on a few occasions. I read about someone getting 2000 kills a day so I wanted to try it and could bend up to 900... it wasn't pretty on KD but I believed ends justify the means. Plenty of time to get it back after that if it's so important anyway.

Only thing it requires is certain kind of attitude and just diligently getting those kills

Thanks guys. I like to 'finish' weapons before I buy another depending on class. And its awesome with a foward grip & 2x scope. I hope most VS have this much.. not ease but something similar.

Getting an auraxium amounts to something like .17 certs per kill.

    That's POINT 17 certs.

The auraxiums by themselves aren't worth much, you likely shouldn't be looking at medals as a grind. Just play the game naturally, try new things, and you will eventually get auraxiums.

The big choices come once you have auraxium'd your favorite weapon. Do I keep playing with something I'm now comfortable with or try to go for a new auraxium on something I'm not used to?

Auraxium just comes with time; as long as you keep playing and focus on only 1 or 2 weapons per class at a time; then change out the weapon after you have auraxiumed it. I have never farmed a particular weapon or class and I now have 8 weapons auraxiumed 2 lmg, 2 carbine, 2 AR, 1 smg, 1 MAX arm and 1 MBT cannon. I have ~600 hrs on my primary and 22k kills. My play style is kind of peculiar though. I play all classes pretty much evenly and try to just use the "best" tool for the job. It usually means I run 1 cqc and 1 mid/long per class.

So in terms of my play style auraxium just comes second nature. It also prevents burn out because I'm not sticking myself with 1 weapon for days on end. I don't see that any of the directive weapons are absolute must have weapons. I look forward to using them when I do eventually unlock them but I'm in no real hurry. My biggest gripe is the Orion. I miss that LMG and nothing else really compares to it for cqc/short range on VS. I finally stopped using it after I noticed (completely by accident) that after the last play session using it I had 1337 kills with it. . I figured it was time to retire it.

If you're grinding 1 class for the directive weapons everything I have ever read and heard says don't bother. They're not the be all end all weapons for each class. Worth the 5 guns worth of certs and 5x1160 kills to get? Depends on how much emphasis each player puts on directives I guess. They won't make you a better [insert class here] though. Get them eventually don't burn out trying to get them. That's my advice.

What's the point with Auraxium weapons?

I've been playing PS2 since release, but I've never stuck to one weapon for that long and there was a point where I stopped playing for a year or so.

Essentially, it's just a return on your investment... some are easier to get than others simply because people have different preferences. Pre-nerf shotguns I got Auraxium on my Piston in about 4 days, a month later I was up to about 3000 kills. These days, despite that happening over three years ago, I've only gotten another 4000 kills since then. All done using the Engineer.

Simply put, people just love some weapons. Even though I've played since late 2012 I still have not Auraxium'd a single vehicle weapon or even a sidearm.

I've Auraxiumed lots of weapons, some experiences were pleasant, some not so much. Two things determine how enjoyable or not the process is.

    1) Having the discipline to adapt your play style to that which best suits the weapon.

    2) Only use the weapon in situations that would be likely to put you in the preferred niche for the weapon.

The best times were when I followed those two guide-posts. Forcing yourself to use it even in less than ideal circumstances forces you into an uncomfortable and frustrating play style.

What I generally do is have 3 or 4 Auraxium projects on-going at the same time. I will select a weapon by class and general type for short, medium and long range work. In that way I can always use the appropriate weapon type for a situation and always be making progress toward an Auraxium.
