If rockets were modeled after real life in this game, amongst other things, your average spawn room would turn into an easybake oven awfully quick...
I'll try to slip inside this discussion with a newb question I suppose it's fitting... What are the differences between rocket launchers? I'm TR, as I understood every faction has it launchers; I was looking through the statistics of those available to me but I can't really see any difference. It seems like the starting one, even though not a lock on, is the one with more damage. What are the pros of getting another one? Thanks
As a TR: Default : dumb fire. Quite high damage (1700 direct + 100 splash) M9 SKEP : lock on to ground vehicule. Less damage than default (ML-7) (1500 direct + 1000 splash). Dumb fire is possible GROUNDER : Lock on to Air vehicule. Less damage than default (ML-7) (1500 direct + 1000 splash). Dumb fire is possible STRIKER : lock on to every vehicule (but MAX of course). Must keep lock until it hits (at least on air vehicule, not sure for ground). If a whole magazine is fired (and hits), high damage, but it takes ~2.6 sec to empty a magazine (5 x 500 direct + 500 splash). Dumb fire is NOT possible NS : Annihilator : lock on to every vehicule (but MAX of course). Low damage (1200 direct + 1000 splash). Dumb fire is NOT possible Decimator : high damage dumb fire, but slow projectile (2000 direct + 1000 splash). Almost two times slower than default rocket launcher.
Don't spend any SC or certs on the Striker. It's terribad after the Nerf. You can get a Skep Launcher and Grounder for 250 certs each. They can dumbfire too!
It's not bad, but keep in mind it can't dumbfire, so you can't use it against maxes, turrets or infantry. It's also of limited use for close range vehicle fighting when your targets are moving in and out of sight on short notice, as it takes a good while to lock on. It also can't mount a flashlight. I haven't played HA much, but I picked up a Striker a while back to periodically take out my frustration at lolpodders on pilots in general, for which it does a reasonable job. If you want to go non-casual HA though, might be better off with one of the other launchers, especially if you'll be in more short-range combat.
Ehehe Is the decimator good? I see that it's like the starting one, slow firing but packing more punch. Is it a good tradeoff or is it too easily avoided?
The only use of it is to kill maxes in biolabs/ Close Quarters. If you can hit a ZOE Max with it while his ZOE is active, it's "Good night Spandex Hero". (I'm not sure but if he has maxed out Flak Armor he might survive. That aside, it's very hard to shoot a ZOE max with a very slow traveling rocket.) It's not on the top of my "To buy" list, but if you have thousands of certs lying around and you are thinking about what to get, you might want to consider it.
