Distance From Point to Deploy Sucks for NC

We all know NC guns are best at close range, yet the distance from points for all sunderers is the same regardless of faction.

    What say you?

NC weapons have some of the best range in the game, they're just much harder to use due to the higher recoil and lower rate of fire. If you are incapable of running from a Sunderer spawn to a facility capture point... then that's just laziness or poor placement.
  4. guerrillaman

LOL. I play TR and NC.

When I'm running from point A to point B, while NC (cyclone), I have to wait until I'm within 50m to start shooting. When TR I can start at 100m. This is easily duplicated over and over,

    My accuracy rates (infantry KDR)

Cyclone 21% (certed with forward grip etc) KDR .45
    T-9 Carv 22% (stock t9, nothing added) KDR .744

I don't even think about starting fire at longer distances. Its just easier. Many points are near impossible to reach as NC.

Good job, you're comparing an SMG to an LMG in effective ranges... use a different weapon on NC and I think you'll be much better off.
  6. TheSunlikeOne

NC has a bigger problems, such as absence of ultra-long range AV weapons, or vanguard being the most inconvinient tank to drive from the warpgate (if TP is lost).

    AF-Mercenary 15%
    GD-7F 16%
    MKV- Surpressed 17.5%
    NC1 Gauss 11%

So basically... I've been playing with smg/carbines and the stock NC guns suck at distance?
  8. guerrillaman

    What's the deal. ...

Why am I so much more accurate with the t9?

And actually whIle HA t9, my kdr is .95
  9. JKomm

NC weapons tend to always have better accuracy, but carbines and SMGs are for sure not better for longer ranges you are describing. It comes down to damage tier... where the Assault Rifles and LMGs only drop one damage tier, Carbines drop two. And even less so for SMGs.

Since NC weapons have higher damage models, they also of larger cone of fire values, making you more and more inaccurate as you hold down the trigger. Try firing in 3-5 round bursts at medium ranges and see if that makes a difference in your accuracy. Also, if you haven't done this yet, turn down your sensitivity. You will be a bit worse at aiming until you get used to the new sensitivity but it will make it easier for you to track targets.

I think you talk a lot of nonsense as usual Guerillaman.

    Probably.

Or maybe no one has actually addressed the problem.

Standard NC guns at distance are not any good.

You have to "learn to use them better".
  14. JKomm

That's the issue with NC... our weapons are the most difficult to learn, but the most rewarding when you do. This is why we're stuck with many newbie players and most pros leave for TR or VS because they're easier in most scenarios. However, NC weapons are amazing at distance, by far better than even Vanu which have high accuracy and low recoil.
  15. guerrillaman

Agreed JKomm. I've actually improved accuracy lately especially with the Cyclone. Jackhammer is my most accurate surprisingly.

If your premise even made sense to start with I would put more effort into the answer - but what you are proposing here shows that you either don't have a grasp of the basics of the game, or you are just trying to troll on purpose.

The reality of the situation is that NC weapons (shotguns aside) are generally considered better at range overall - and for good reason. As they for the most part use higher tier bulletdamage models they also tend to share a few characteristics that higher damage-model weapons have in common:
    - Better ranged damage dropoff
    - Better maximum accuray (ie. standing still while shooting)
    - Better round velocity (often, but not always)

All these are key attributes to ranged effectiveness, and they apply to a large portion of the NC arsenal, including most of the starter weapons.

On VS and TR these are attributes you generally only get on long-range specialized weapons in a given class, meaning they are relatively rare.

Just as a random example - take the default assault-rifles from NC and TR. All three of the points above apply, and this is fairly common when you look at the NC arsenal. (ie. VS and TR are very similar - NC stick out with more long-range/presice/heavy guns).

The default NC LMG is also a classic example. Most people complain about it being TOO ranged specialized for a default weapon (and I kind of agree), not the opposite. It is even more in the ranged-favor extreme with the 200dmg bullet model and actually has 100% accuracy on the first shot, on par with sniper rifles.

In short - your claim is absurd. Ironically if you had complained about the exact opposite thing (ie. NC not having enough high-ROF/low-dmg-bullet sray&pray weapons for CQC then you arguably could have a point (a long discussed topic on the forums), but the opposite doesn't make sense in the slightest.

And no - your personal anecdote from a few hundred kills is not evidence of anything..
I assume this is you based on all the stats you've specified matching exactly:

If you could confirm or link your actual TR profile I would be interested to see it to see how much actual experience you have to back up what you are talking about. You tend to seem awfully NC-biased in your posts. If you show that you actually spend some time with other empires too then it is at least a little easier to take you seriously in a blatantly pro-NC thread.
