Devs Closing Gatekeeper Threads

    Primary tank cannons have been nerfed so many times its a shame.

    The drop issue and bloom issue only became "issues" when the gatekeeper was released.

    No one cared because it was both pretty balanced and fun, with a skill curve that managed to be far more accessible than flying is, but still rewarding the gunner's ability.

    The reason long range, low skill, accurate AV was always hated in the past was not because it's on infantry, but because it shuts down dynamic vehicle play, making the game more boring. Moving out of cover, firing a couple of shots at long range, then moving back into cover before you die as you get shot by weapons that keep hitting you accurately even while moving, is the worst part of vehicle play. More GK type weapons is just going to make it worse.

    ...but it's boring, and utterly devalues mobility while promoting camping behind a piece of cover. It turns places that used to be a joy to play vehicles (like North Indar and Esamir) and makes them depressing.

    I'm for the Enforcer getting buffs & the Saron.

    If they are supposed to be long range ES AV, then they should be buffed to be that way.

    Why do you so adamantly defend a weapon which is clearly much easier to use then its counterparts for equal to better results?

    I don't want every weapon to be easy mode point, click, win adventures. The challenges of managing drop and bloom balances these weapons out and adds a layer of skill that the gatekeeper doesn't require. Your essentially asking to take away a large portion of the skill required to use both the Saron and Enforcer, just so you can stubbornly say that your were right about the Gatekeeper.

    Enforcer and Saron are both effective until around 300-400M, balance the Gatekeeper to have about the same effective range and we're golden. Noone likes fighting render range standoffs and encouraging power creep isn't really a good idea in game balancing.

    Long range AV that is accurate, powerful, and easy to lead against moving targets should not exist. It scales too well, so that by the time you get to a platoon size engagement, any vehicle that isn't abusing high ground and cover will die in moments, and it punishes exciting aggressive play, promoting the worst kind of static game-play, that only the kind of person with the Spear turret auraxium medal would enjoy.

    The idea of giving this to everyone is terrible.

    What about the lancer, ravens, vortex and phoenix? Lancer and vortex both can hit from outside render range with pin point accuracy. The ravens are the single most overpowered thing in the game and have been since they were released. And you complain about render range meanwhile NC heavies can blast tank from 300 meters away, from BEHIND cover with impunity.

    You guys are just mad that the TR now has a way to fight back at ranges previously reserved for the other 2 factions.

    I feel like you just described AA. SPEAKING of which, other factions may not be aware of this since they don't have lockdown but do you know what the worst thing for a long-range artillery vehicle is? Libs. Air in general, really. You're so far away from allies that any AA they have doesn't cover you as well. The number of times I've been wrecking vehicles in a Prowler that were too busy bombing spawns to notice their friends dying, then along comes Mr. Lib who can safely dive me with a Tank Buster since there's no allies around me to punish him for it.

    Of course, we don't discuss strategies of how to counter things on the forums. We just ask for nerfs and buffs (mostly nerfs) so that our current playstyle will already deal with it.

    Lancer and vortex have low dps, and are unable to chase my prowler/vanguard. A GK can chase a vanguard/magrider.

    Even ravens suffer the same problem, they lack the ability to "give chase" to enemies.

    Maybe the real issue is... that the fractures are garbage and everyone knows it, same with the striker which is only good against aircraft honestly.

    Max LR AV Max balance is totally not in favor of the TR and needs to be balanced. But don't argue that the GK is balanced. I can avoid and have avoided Lancers/vortex/ravens. A GK will follow you and continue to shoot you at absurd ranges.

    this weapon range is max, no Drop. This weapon is stronger all factions.

    Ravens are capped at 350m, Phoenix capped at ~290. People aren't mad because the Gatekeeper is effective at the same ranges their weapons are, people are mad because the Gatekeeper is effective at twice the range of their weapons. Gatekeeper is also as easy or easier to use then both Vortex and lancer.
