Devs Closing Gatekeeper Threads

    People are absolutely right, the Gatekeeper needs to be nerfed to the ground! It's unnatural for TR to have any edge in this game and needs to stay down on the bottom of the food chain as it should be! I mean who are the VS and NC going to farm when the TR starts to accurately fire back? It's ridonculous!

    What part of the following sentence do you not understand?

    "The Gatekeeper has the same DPS as the Saron going full blast (i.e maximum 5m range to hit due to COF bloom) with pin point accuracy at double bullet speed at 400m+ ".

    If that's your definition of balance then can I have some of what you smoke?

    You need to engage TR more often with your NC alt ! (but credit for playing multiple factions)

    I feel that NC have a hard time against the render-range GK - Ravens and Phoenix don't have the range, Vanguard AP is good but will just scare it off rather than kill it. Or maybe i'm just missing what the ideal counter is.

    ...just thought i'd better mention that the VS don't have an 'easy time' against render-range GK either but they do have a few more options.

    Vortex or Lancer have the range to plink it - although they won't kill it unless they obediently stay still for an extended period of time. Stealth Saron-Magrider is good for flanking as long as they stay put for long enough to reach them - which amazingly, many do.

    you know what would make the GK much less OP? give it a more noticeable render/bullet noise, so people will see it coming and don't have an excuse when they get killed by it. problem solved, yes?

    That is part of the issue. The biggest glaring issue is the amount of people sitting in harassers solo at render range plinking vehicles to death. I have no problem with the GKs dps, that part is balanced. Let me lay out some facts
    GK has a very similar DPS to both of the other ESAV options.

    It shares roughly the same TTK on sunderers as a enforcer and saron @0-100m.

    It is more accurate than the Saron and enforcer.

    The Saron DOES have a higher "alpha" but against targets (@0-100m) with full health it doesn't matter.

    The enforcer has a similar alpha. (over 1s they both do about the same damage.)

    The saron has MASSIVE bloom.

    The enforcer has ridiculous drop.

    Now please offer me some counterstatements disproving me of such because all I see is absolutely no downside to the GK while both enforcer and Saron have LARGE downsides (less so on the enforcer side arguably).

    On Emerald the TR have been a strong force since before the gatekeeper got introduced. You had the vulcan, you were going to get AND got buffs to your rocket launchers. You have some rediculously awesome infantry weapons with rediculously large magazine sizes. I mean... the Carv is a beast and that's just your starter weapon. You were completely able to fight back before the gatekeeper got introduced. It's sad how you think your entire ability to fight back now rests on the gatekeeper's shoulders. Now the VS and the NC have problems dealing with your gatekeeper, so WE are the ones who can't really fight back against it. You're not fighting back, you're just wrecking face with that stupid rocket-machinegun-sniper-nobulletdrop-barelyanycof-samedamageatanydistance gatekeeper and calling it fighting back. The game was much more balanced BEFORE the gatekeeper, and if you weren't wrecking face before then you were using your TR stuff the wrong way. Now you get the easiest faceroll weapon and you think that's fighting back to use? Why don't you get used to the skill cap on your stuff and try using weapons that aren't so faceroll so you can fight back, and with PRIDE, instead of slamming your face into your keyboard and still managing to pull kills and kill assists out of it with the gatekeeper.

    So decrease the drop on the enforcer & the bloom on the saron.

    Which brings up another point I forgot the HUGE difference in velocity. But yeah, if all of them had similar characteristics scrin (I am more of a GDI guy myself) it would be fine.

    However, you stating that theres nothing wrong with the balance, when there most certainly is, is adding to chaos on the forums.

    The devs(Higby) at one point nerfed the range of all tank weapons because they were performing to well at to great of ranges. GK gets released and now the other 2 weapons need to be buffed to keep up? This is a serious lack of game design and concept/planning.

    I personally think GK should have its range reduced to be in line with the other weapons which were all nerfed for being to effective at long ranges.

    Either nerf the velocity of the GK to that of the Saron and Enforcer, then give it a small amount of bloom and bullet drop (after you nerf the velocity) or buff the Enforcer and Saron to the same speed as the GK, then give them both the same drop and bloom... After all the GK has equal DPS a bigger clip and faster reload....

    GateKeeper is a fkin cool name that's why it's so awesome and op and it farms everything from 70000 meters + with more dps than a vulcan.

    The Enforcer has drop issues & the Saron has bloom issues.

    It would make the most sense to fix them & close the "Gap".


    Also the devs have a poor relationship with vehicles ever since the beginning of the game.

    Each weapon has different roles & different balance.

    The Balance is fine, but the GK truely showed that the Enforcer & Saron are not really good over longer ranges when they should be.

    ES AV, their role is to kill vehicles.

    They were designed not to be. BECAUSE, they were REAALLLY good at long range once-upon-a-time. You had magrider hill across from the crown ensuring no vehicle survived very long. And the enforcer used to be very similar to the halberd except it had no drop if I remember correctly. Those got nerfed because they were render range weapons. Same with MBT primaries. IF all of the above was buffed to the previous standards I wouldn't mind. But I don't like the idea of secondaries out ranging the primaries.
