Devs Closing Gatekeeper Threads

    I've noticed that Radar went around saying there's one too many nerf the gatekeeper threads all ready, and that he would be closing down other threads related to the topic.

    I have a suggestion for you here Radar...

    NERF THE ******* WEAPON ALL READY AND YOU WON'T HAVE A MILLION THREADS CALLING FOR IT TO GET A DESERVED NERF.

    Then you can go back to reddit and keep ignoring all our feedback here.

    EDIT: Gatekeeper is fine anyway. It's meant as a long-range weapon and actually does rather pitiable damage. It's like throwing a bunch of, iunno, glowy red rocks at the enemy.

    Try using it up close. In those ranges, the Vulcan or even the Halberd would be a better solution.

    It's what game devs do, put something out, let it play out get the feedback through actual statistics and then think about any changes to weapon design. I also think it has something to do with selling product, if it's overpowered, players tend to pay real money for it. As well the TR I think needed something to attract players to the faction. I think It will get toned down eventually after some internal DBG threshold has been met (probably sales on the weapon).

    You know, you're probably right. They're probably cashing in on the other 2 factions misery and are waiting until they can afford a solid gold jacuzzi in the "**** our player base" lounge at DBG headquarters before they finally make changes.

    Finally people are starting to understand that just because someone in red is doing damage from greater than 20m doesn't mean it's OP.

    Did they take direct hits? There's the problem right there. How hard do you think it was to get those direct hits? Do you think the gatekeeper doesn't also get direct hits on the larger aircraft and all the vehicles? It's not about how much damage each shot does, it's about how easy it is to get sustainable damage in until your objective dies, and on what the gatekeeper is getting sustainable damage. Even if it doesn't outright kill something, which is where you get all your KPU and KPH statistics that the supporters of the weapon keep showing to try and support it not being OP, the fact is is that it gets a piece of the pie on anything and everything. Just because it's not finishing those players, or vehicles, or aircraft off... doesn't mean those players still aren't racking up a trillion points in assists. The gatekeeper might not be an instadeath-cannon, but it's more a death-by-a-million-needles gun. Nobody likes having to make rash decisions while their health is tick tick ticking away from a gatekeeper, only to wind up getting finished off by a heavy, or a vulcan, or a tank, or an aircraft. I would bet all my money that this gun would have the highest assist percentage out of all the vehicle weapons. It assists with aircraft, vehicles... and infantry (as you pointed out). No other gun so readily does damage to all three of those things at once. Even if it isn't getting kills, it's still doing a **** done of damage to EVERY TYPE OF UNIT IN THE GAME, which is why we want it to get nerfed and why we think it's OP.

    Well said sir. This is definitely a situation of the stats not telling the whole story. Incredible ease of use + average DPS= nonstop damage and assists. Because it lacks Alpha damage and burst damage, it's not getting ton of kills but I would have to agree that it probably leads the assist stats by a mile. Is there any stat sites that track assists?

    Forumside is persistent - even on dead end topics. The combination of tunnel vision and faction/confirmation bias plagues any argument made against any aspect of the game. At the end of the day, you just have to understand that the whole 'nerf X' thing is a pointless bandwagon that dies a humiliating death.

    while i a gree it needs a tone down this thread will also be locked, and rightly so. just making those of us that are on the "tone it down" side look like jerks

    I dont think its really selling any the weapon just like its counterparts were actually generously priced at 550 certs that doesnt take to long to aquire.

    I think it's easier than any other AV weapon to...

    Considering it's RoF, zero bloom, and one of the highest velocities of any AV weapon (shy of Lancer which has low RoF and less dmg)

    Is it insane? No. Is it OP? Not exactly...

    it is better at a lot more than almost any other option however. It's like a Basilisk on crack.

    I'm not entirely ready to bemoan it yet, and it can't be balanced without looking at the bigger picture as it's currently filling a highly needed role for TR at the moment.

    I'd easily take it on any other MBT over other options though.

    But the game is assymetrical.

    NC get Ravens which are ungodly annoying to fight against, and VS have Lancers which take more coordination and focus or numbers than other factions but is a nightmare in large open fields against VS infantry.


    It IS better, but that does not necessarily mean it's in dire need of nerfing.

    Every faction SHOULD have their toys other factions envy or hate to fight against and require different approaches/tactics.

    And if you want to blame anyone, blame me. I've reported most of the new GK threads with the reason of Redundant Post and Cross posting. So its my fault they got locked.
