[Suggestion] Deployed sunderer's and tank mines

If they turned proximity mines into ww2 mines and slightly buffed c4 it would be fine... but you know what? Nothing will change at all.
People would complain about c4 blowing their sundy.
Then they would nerf c4 and make sundies invincible fortress by default... no thanks, a fully upgraded and manned sundy is already strong enough.

Im not joking when i say that its a GUNNERS problem.
90% of the sundies are just begging to be blowed up.
  2. Pockets

No...that is what the enemy engineer will do if they don't go off by prox.
  3. kabab

That would be fine since you can still cert blockade armour to counter it so the Sundy would still be strong against some other attacks..
  4. Gisgo

That would make mineguard and mines completely useless, everybody would have blockade armor.
    Way to balance things...
Truth is you dont like to chose between blockade armor and mineguard, i dont either, but i understand it makes sense i have to.
  5. Ausk

So your saying mines would be useless because you have to use them stop armor from entering places?
because you can no longer use them as C4?
  6. Gisgo

    Yes, pretty much.
If you deploy mines at crossroads/base entrance etc they gonna be blown up 90% of the times, sometime getting you grief points, and its a waste of resources.
You can place them in odd places, sometime youll get a kill, but whats the point of that?
Id rather spend my resources on bouncing bettys/c4/grenedes, nobody would use AT mines anymore.
  7. kabab

Mines should be used to create defence in high traffic area to cut off vehicle access, they are being used more like c4 now.. The mine guard will still be good on sundies if you are using them to move troops into battle..

The mines are to versatile and Sundy defence cert are not.
  8. Pockets

You can't put out enough mines to ever stop armor from doing anything.
  9. Ausk

that is the entire point is it not?
something is inherently wrong with mines... they are being used as C4 and cannot be used as mines are supposed to be used

Dude i edit my posts because english isnt my first language, and i dont always make sense or say what i really mean... doing my best, sorry.
  11. Gisgo

    Fixed that for you.
  12. Ausk

If they were being correctly used as proximity mines then you would end up dead upon placing them on stationary vehicles from the subsequent immediate blast.

  13. Pockets

No, they have a short time where they arm when tossed down that lets vehicles drive away safely. And even if we could make minefields a max minguard sundy would just drive though and go "lol mines".
  14. Gisgo

    I dont get it...
It just makes sense a proximity mine is set up so it gives the deployer enough time to get away before the explosion... doesnt it?
  15. Ausk

However at what cost?, you will find that they gave up their armor and will be cut through like butter by the tanks and Heavy Assaults in the area.. if presence in the region is large enough for minefields then there will be no doubt people will grab HA and blast it fast.
  16. Gisgo

You are exaggerating, a sundy isnt a flash, maybe you shoudnt drive in the middle of a tank battle like that...
Keep in mind blockade armor is giving you 12% dmg abs... its nice, yeah, but its still 12%... if everybody is shooting at you you will explode no matter.

I use mines as mines very frequently and mines as c4 very frequently. I also use c4 as c4. The funny thing I find here is that we have people complaining about killing vehicles in a game where any level 1 can pull a MBT without a single cert and get kills.

Oh noes people are blowing up tanks and sunderers that are parked with mines!!

Big deal. There is one thing thats rarely in short supply and thats sunderers. I miss PS1 where killing a sunderer would often be the big tide turner in a base defense.

Actually mines are used as mines (you can even find WW2 training videos of troups throwing mines at vehicles).

The only reason these kind of threads keep poping up is because:
    • People are new, don't have enough certs and can't protect effectively their sunderer.
    • People don't want to exchange blockade armor or ammo dispenser for mineguard.
For the first group of people, I'm afraid there is no easy solution. I suppose the developers had to choose between balancing the game for players that freshly join the game or end-game, aka players with some experience and certs. They choose the later, as all typical mmo(rpg)s do. You don't balance your PvP game for your level 1 characters, with 1 ability to distribute, you balance it at end game or primarily at end game with the majority of abilities available.

For the second group of people, it depends on the threats you're facing. I'm assuming that your sunderer takes damage mostly when deployed. If not, then you've placed it badly or early. If your sunderer dies from air threats or rockets, then yes, blockade makes more sense, even if you occasionally lose it from mines. If your sunderer dies from mines, then mineguard is a no brainer. You also need to keep in mind that, besides a good amount of C4, all other damage is repairable and in most cases, you can repair faster than they can damage (even if sometimes you're getting farmed doing it).
Also, when attempting a stealth takeover of a mosty empty base, blockade makes zero sense. I've stalled countless small base attacks as a solo person or with a couple other people, from people that were bringing a vehicle that was unfit for the purpose.

The problem with the sunderer atm is not the mineguard. It's the lack of practical use for the shield breaker.

You get people complaining that mines are used as mines, aka vehicle killing explosives. If the situation was reversed and C4 was doing what mines currently do (which is also what some people are asking), you'd hear more (and more reasonable) complaints. Aka that a general purpose explosive is more fit for purpose compared to a specialised explosive.

Actually for the first problem there is an easy solution: mineguard level 1 costs less than the AMS upgrade itself. AMS + Mineguard 1 is less than 100 certs.

Seriously, to all you people whining about AT mines I'd like to ask you this: have you actually used them? If so how many kills are you away from Auraxium with them?
