It's hard enough to make people learn how to fly. Harder to make them vomit certs into things beyond the 50 cert line in the sand. I propose a sky deployable AMS. Functions as follows (for designer/fairness). -Altitude limit to drop distance, forcing a pilot to remain inside and squad-only drops from render distance. -Circle of deployment limited to air AMS only. Preventing the multiple repair gals. -Deployment is slowing as still as possible, and it will pop up as an option even when still moving for those who have trouble forcing air to be still with no left/right drifting and deploying will force a full stop. This would be mostly max-less droppers unless brought in for a drop. People will spawn along side the gals in a drop while squaddies are inside to exit for a drop (and the only ones who can use the guns to defend the gal). This could be extended to squad-only Valkyrie deployment AMS. For the bases that are nigh impossible to defeat with a zerg with access to these it would be a stationary target that even LA rocklettes can eventually get to. This would be for bases where sunder deployment would be hard to place, and would commit to the deployment circle restrictions(?). Leave your suggestions/preferences or a bump in support (no threadomancy).
Just trying to understand. So the spawning would drop non squad members wherever the Galaxy or Valkerie happens to be or spawning is only an option when the spawn platform is not moving. Then difficult base captures force the spawn platform to operate at a lower altitude and be more vulnerable to attack.
@PlanetBound Like the sunder, the air vehicle in the spawn mode would be outside deployment circle, below a certain altitude to the nearest item/terrain below it (developers choice height). They would employ a air-only spawn bubble that sunderers would be able to deploy one underneath. The vehicle in this mode would (like the sunderer) undeploy to move. I would prefer galaxy only for this mode as it seems fat enough to have a spawner inside like a sunderer does. I do see a problem for ramming to force it to undeploy. A gal being slammed into another could cause it to undeploy. If possible, maybe landing would just give it a regular sunderer spawn mode.
Long ago they gave us galaxies that could be public ams like a sundy. Had to be landed and deployed. Had some shields up I believe. Took those out pretty quick though. Harder to kill than a sundy and lots more weapons on it. A spawnable galaxy over base would likely just cause issues with more than 2 of them ramming each other to move them out of way so they could set up their own since unlike sundys there is no ground to sit on and hard to lock an aircraft down while in flight.
no thanks, like Gak said.. we had those back in alpha and it was too much of a "good" thing, and that was back when AA did more than just make noise...
Better than a sunderer in every way but cloaking... Why use a land-dependent sundy, with 2 guns vs 5 guns, heavier armor, flight, and being able to park it in the sky, outside of C-4 & most Light assault weapons, let alone if high enough in there. Hell, even on the ground, that's a ton of advantages over driving a slower sunderer there, less armed sunderer. Not to mention, the hot-drop capability of the Galaxy, before setting it up, even if it needed to land, trumps the limited drop-off of a sundy. -- That's not counting what the two above said. Which I have no idea about, since I never was there. But I can agree with it.
