Definitive proof that battle rifles are complete fail!!

    Hi everyone,

The following video was originally meant to show how awesome pump action shotguns are, however I think it goes to show how poor other weapons are in comparison.

Namely the battle rifles, which with their range and attachments, should be your average soldiers go to long range weapon. However it takes 3 headshots to drop someone with a x6 scope on. Yet on my shotgun I can equip a x4 scope, slug ammo and headshot kill people at range in one shot!

Surely it would make more sense for the battle rifles to be your headshot kill option for non snipers, rather than a shotgun!?!?

See what you guys think, and/checkout my other YouTube vid, it shows how I took out a sniper in a snipe-off!!

If I were to suggest a fix, I'd say please please please give battle rifles a ammo type which penetrates player armor better and gives us that headshot kill option, the trade off would be poorer damage at close range.

This post is a wonderful study in demographics.

    How do you mean??

I agree the BR if weak as hell.

I would suggest actually giving it the Shotgun slug ammo speed and drop, and give the shotgun its speed and drop.

Has anyone noticed aswell that the battle rifle has Grenade launcher attachment in VR!! I hope this is intentional and indicates they will be introducing it! That's would be very nice indeed.

That's the big problem right there, really. Most niche weapons (battle rifles, scout rifles and other such niche weapons) have been rendered dysmally obsolete with the addition of actual weapon subtypes that fill their role way better than they do. I mean... why use a Stalker Scout Rifle as an NC when the Cyclone SMG can do the same thing with more damage, standard clip size AND ammo attachments to choose from? Seriously: I love the way a silenced stalker sounds, it's death in a can...it just doesn't have the damage or range to compete with anything.

That's a bug and only NC get it for some reason.

He had to adjust for drop and had a moving target. You had neither of those.

Yeah sorry pal, but no VS sniper can claim any sort of prestige of skills from a long range sniper shot, as VS snipers are well..easy mode!! Lol.

Unless you've had to compensate for bullet drop and a moving target, you haven't even made a shot.

Point and shoot doesn't count as skills..

    Lol

Good greif, never considered it VS wise, that's insanely easy.

And some VS guys keep saying that no bullet drop means nothing. It is negligible in many situations, but in this one it is a huge advantage. I have only tried out slug ammo in VR training and even on that firing range there was noticeable bullet drop.

Shotguns with Slugs are way betetr than BR, its most effective to use Semi Auto instead of Pump Action. I tested it over at the VR, Eidolon (VS BR) needs 3 headshots or 6 bodyshots, the Thanatos (Semi Auto Shotgun) needs 3 hits no matter what you hit, you can down the dummys at 300m. The Shutgun bullets are slow but i use it as sniper on my engineer and its realy nice. I hope that the weapon pass that should comesometime in the future will make the BR and Scout Rifles stronger so you can actually down players befor they simply duck into cover (what they do with 6 bullets+ needed).

VS Bolt Snipers have bullet drop.
  15. tastyBerryPunch

They still have noticeably less bullet drop then their TR and NC counterparts.
  16. WalrusJones

They have 7.5 bullet drop and a cap of 650 meters per second, like all the other factions BARs.

Their semi auto snipers are poorly balanced, mind you: One is the other but with no other statistical difference aside from... Reload speed. The VA39 specter is literally better in the only attribute that is unique for the two semi auto snipers of the VS.

Edit: Has anyone noticed that the weapons stat sheet on google docs has MUCH Better data on recoil then it did before.

They can go about improving Battle Rifles a few ways; bullet velocity and CoF are my preferred solutions. Slow bullet velocity renders long range engagements tedious, requiring so many more precision shots on a stationary or a well-lead target. The CoF renders CQC abysmal, meaning that their effective hipfire range is breathing down your opponent's neck while crouching and standing still.

This makes it a fine support weapon (think: Engineer) but not a good direct engagement weapon (think: HA).

    Just fyi.

Ok I can see from your graph that i should reword my statement to exclude the actually sniper class. However you can't deny that the VS scum have it easy to not suffer bullet drop.

    Long live the NC!!!

SAW with HV ammo doesn't need to compensate for drop on a headshot until past 140m. won't miss a body shot basically ever. Yet VS are down 2 damage tiers at range and can't ever compensate for that. NC also have 0 COF where VS have a probability of missing. So no drop at any practical range 25% more damage and of COF, sorry mate NC are easy mode.

Slugguns are the only time were no drop is an advantage.

Also the new pumps only OSK in the head at 20m. Your video looks further than that so I'd say your infiltrator was already damaged.
