Not enough incentive to defend hence ring around the roses on a territory scale prevails. Every 2 hours a territory should gain 0.5x DEFENSIVE MULTIPLYER to XP, up to 4x XP for activities done in territories that have been held for 8 hours or more continually. Also, base capture XP should also rise in line with this. So there is an increased incentive for defenders to hold bases they have held for a while, and equally for attackers to hit. There should be apt indicators suggesting where high value attack/defence target territories are on the map. Maybe then we would see player groups fortifying long held positions and more of a defensive focus, instead of zergs circling around the map taking empty bases... Just a thought. I like defending, but there's not much sense in doing so if I'm outnumbered because the rest of the empire is XP seeking on the attack front.
