Daily reminder that the 90% of the weapons of PS2 are overpriced

Stock weapons are more than servisable for pretty much everything, except maybe lightning and ESF, but the AA nosegun and lightning heat are both very inexpesive in terms of certs. Honestly the only 1000 cert things you realy need to be competitive is your choice of AA (second burster, skyguard, or AA launcher).

This thread is filled with so much silly talk.

The reason the few people who have played this game (and quit in less than a week) didn't pay because they felt the prices were outrageous. I havn't bought any SC for the same reason. Sorry but I buy full games with all of their content for the price of one measily gun in this game.

The only time the prices are reasonable is if you get:

    1) 3X SC
    2) Daily Market Deal
    3) A bundle which has non100/250cert tier items. (Infantry non-starter Bundle iirc is a waste with 4 100-250 cert items and 1 1000 cert item for like 1000SC)

At the very least, you can whittle down costs for a high tier weapon to $1.17 under very specific criteria which feels like a deal. Even without 3x SC, 350 SC for a high tier weapon is also fairly cheap.

The SC to Cert tier ratios are also off. 300 SC for a 100 Cert item? 250SC for a camo? Not micro at all. If permanent camos were 50SC i'de bought more camos then I currently own (3 from bundles)

I personally am fine paying 7 bucks for a weapon and I am usually pretty low on cash. I don't have to pay a monthly subscription, I get to support the game financially as I want to. I have a nifty VR testing area AND a trial period to get the feel for any new weapon before I buy it. This is on top of 3x station cash sales, double exp weekends, and good weapons are put on sales pretty often.

Guys don't whine about this game. It's suppose to be an MMO that you play for years. You get a few guns, then you just play and accumulate certs over time. They will have to stop adding stuff to the class cert trees so you'll get those filled out after a while. Then all you have to do is buy a new weapon here and there with certs.

Now, that said, they should have like a cert sale day once a month where they put up one NS or ES (one from each empire) weapon that has been out for at least two months and allow it at a discount of like 20-30%. They could make it random that way you can't just wait for the sale day every month to fill out your armory. This would give even new players a chance to get some weapons here and there at a cheaper price. Because even after you buy the weapon, it's usually another 250 certs to deck it out with the proper attachments.

I know this past weekend I unloaded ~3,500 certs into the NS-11c (1430 total), the Flare (480), and about another 1600 certs into my classes. That basically took up all the certs I got this past weekend (I got 2 Araxium medals which helped that 3.5k). So I ended up, at the end of the double XP period, with ~500 certs less than I started. Considering I've bought almost all the infantry weapons less than 1k certs, it'd be nice to get a few of the 1k weapons at a discount here and there.

if you are a completly free player then i can understand the grind is a bit over the top.
But it is done to obviously make you spend money, thats what a f2p game is about.
You have to look at it as a huge demo you get with option to buy.

And i agree with people who said this game is not expensive, 3*sc and it being on sale makes it cheap!

If you are under the age of 18 or do not have the spare money to spend on this game then just accept it.
i have played many f2p games and this one does not make it to my personal moneysinklist.
there is things that can be tweaked like the balance between certs and sc prices and maybe make cert sales too but to say this game is a complete rip off is over the top and just wrong.

I always look at it this way: i can spend a entire night in town and get wasted with friends which i have done plenty and spend over a 100$ and it will give me 6 hours of fun and a 24h headache, or i can spend 20$ on planetside and enjoy it for countless hours.
Its not the same kind of fun, but its fun and alot cheaper.

And btw it is not 12 year olds barking at you for crying about the paymentmodel, it is 18+ plus people who spent money here and are tired of these topics in general.

I think the OP dont know what is talking about. The cert gain is to high, with the ribbons comming with GU06 there is gonna be no need to buy SC for weapons, i still have 140 days of my Alpha Squad 5 months later and they improved the xp gain to 50%, so this weekend killing a sunderer gave me 1500 xp, thats 6 certs points, ESF 1200 xp, almost 5 certs, mbt 6 certs, any player 1 cert, high menace ones +1000 xp, thats 5 certs for killing a player. I have 4k certs, when GU06 is ready i will buy 2x flametrhowers, NS heavy pistol, NS LMG and probably could put some certs into the weapons, with the ribbons implemented i wont need a double xp weekend, i will buy everything they release the next month with certs.
  7. akajefe

You forget to mention that a lot of fantastic weapons are either free, or only cost 100 certs. Items go on sale daily and packages are available as well.

The only area where I can agree with you is the bolt action sniper rifles. Only decent one cost 1000 certs or 700 SC.
  8. THUGGERNAUT

if you really want a bad F2P model, check out team fortress 2/guild wars 2. at least you know what you're getting when you spend your station cash, you don't have to buy "keys" to open "boxes" to gamble on crappy items. i don't think anyone will argue TF2 is better as a F2P game than when it was a regular buy once, get the whole game model.
  9. pR4cs

I think the pricing is good, despite everything being expensive. It brings variety to the battlefield as not everyone owns the same weapons.
Also, this is a free to play game. As mentioned before, the Devs are human beings too, they need money too. This is their job. Take advantage of the 2x or 3x station cash sales if you want items to be cheaper. Best combination: get SC on a 3x sale day and only buy items that are on sale or in a bundle.
Really. It's fine. Just specialize yourself more.

There's a couple of sensible ideas in this last paragraph I agree with. But you still haven't said what a fair price is, why the current prices are unreasonable or really anything other than toss out a couple random thoughts you had floating around in your head.

In conclusion, before trying to ridicule anybody responding to you, please think out your own views first, kthx.
  11. Colt556

Anybody who actually pays real money is a ******, is cattle, and is part of what is ruining the industry. 7 dollars for a collection of pixels that a decent modeler could put together in less than a day? I mean christ, 80% of the guns in game are just reskins of the same ******* model. And dumbasses actually pay 7 ******* dollars for these?

There's something to be said for "less is more". If a gun cost 2 dollars you'd get a LOOOT more people willing to throw down money. But, companies gotta be greedy and milk the herd. As long as the cattle throw down their money, SOE will continue to milk them dry.
  12. Unknown Kadath

Or we don't mind spending some money to support a game that's otherwise free. Paying some money for a game is not ruining the industry. Paying no money at all for games would ruin the industry.

Just because you've either got very little money and/or some armchair-socialist philosophy, doesn't mean you need to insult the rest of us.

    Bunch of spoiled brats here.

Some weapons are surely overpriced, but not all, else no one would be buying them.

Sony has to make money or this game will be shut down. People have to get something for their money or they won't pay. People have to get something for free or there won't be a playerbase.

If you think the weapons are too expensive, then be glad that there are other people actually willing to fund the game, and get your 5-10x discount when stuff goes on sale. You're literally given the best of all possible worlds here if you would smarten up a little bit.
  14. BeachHead2

I'm happy to let those willing to part with cash to do so, if it makes the free to play game better.

If you imagine that buying a particular weapon will make the game better for you... go ahead and buy it. Chances are it will be nerfed if it's actually any good, in the name of balance. Don't get me wrong. I think balance is a good thing.

Me? I'm more than happy with the standard weaponry. I'm here to have fun, not win at all costs, but I'm more than willing to play against those willing to shell out (pun) for what they perceive as an 'advantage'. I hope it works out for you.

I sure wouldn't want to be the poor guy or gal who has to balance 'game balance' with 'marketability' though.... Tough gig.
  15. Colt556

It's the AMOUNT you pay. Actually no, it's the quantity you pay per item. Even if you spent the same amount of money, that isn't the problem. But by buying these MASSIVELY overpriced weapons that have virtually no stat differences and are, quite literally, the exact same model and skin, you are telling SOE that it's fine to overprice the hell out of their items, idiots will buy them.

Say you've already spent 500 dollars, had you spent those 500 bucks on reasonably priced items there would be no problem. But instead you bend over and, with a smile on your face, beg SOE to screw you because "lol I got some free cash and I wanna support this half-*****, Alpha game!"

The reason companies release day one DLC, or any DLC for that matter (y'know, finished parts of the game that they intentionally withhold just to charge you more) is because of morons who gladly swallow everything they put out. If you're so willing to throw your money down the drain I can give you my paypal account.
  16. Laraso

Quoting yourself in response to someone doesn't make yourself right.

This is a free to play game. It's not the excuse, it's the reason.
  17. ElCreepo

You should really stop playing Planetside if it pisses you off that much.

Oh, and send me that paypal information after you provide me with several hundred hours of entertainment, and I'll be happy to compensate you for your time and effort.
  18. Joram

Its not the same IMHO, i buy guns for 7$, i will never buy a game with day 1 DLC, the game i payed 7$ for a gun is free, the game with day 1 dlc is 60$ + DLC.

An with Sony being in financial trouble, they are obviously trying to spend as little as possible an make as much as they can. People are basically stupid, an will pay for just about anything. if SOE charged for bullets, people would ***** an moan, an pay for it all at same time.
  20. Tasogie

lol 60 quid is nothing, I have paid 700$ for PS2 (yes I am stupid), but I have a bad habit of buying anything I feel like at time, for stupid reason :)...
point is, people will always pay an always pay alot. SOE know this. hell they **** on their customers from a massive height in SWG, an while Most left, some stayed. Even after SOE showed just how much contempt their customers are held in.
