Current Helmets - Target Audience?

Who are buying these? I could see "maybe" someone buying the TR/VS helmet out of desperation since there are no other alternatives but....

We've been told they are to be released on "schedule" which from a business perspective is understandable. Players are more likely to purchase helmets they normally wouldn't by staggering out releases. HOWEVER, is it to much to ask for maybe "1" just "1" helmet release that actually looks awesome & fits the dark military sci-fi theme?

The Protoss helmets are badass, even though they're horribly broken and some have weird eyebrow camo

The NC helmet looks pretty cool. Personally, I love running around with a skull mask, composite armour, and alpha cammo, and yellow camo on my gun, trying to be the most lurid sight possible up close. Why? I dunno, but it's fun.

Wow. The TR commissar/M. Bison hat. So many people would buy that.


edit: So many people would buy it that it would get boring and it would stop being cool.

More helmets that I would like to see



Its been almost 6 months since launch. While the interview with Mat Broome was awesome, what happened to all the helmets he discussed? That was back in February?

I rather like the protos helmets since they at least feel somewhat sci fi. I wished they wrapped all around the head instead of a mask but oh well... I agree most of the helmets are pretty bad though and while i mean no disrespect to anyone that takes the skulls or thrasher masks, I just can't take them serious and feel like they're just trying way too hard to 'look bad***'

Just wait for the player studio. People are going o be putting out so much amazing stuff.

i bought the NC welding mask for the max. it looks very nice on a big a.ss mean robot!
now i just need to wait for the flamethrowers to be released so i can start "welding" my opponents

There was talk of linking it to BR. I would buy that one in a heart beat, hopefully for all classes, not just the odd couple.

I don't get it why you are critizing the new masks.

They look a LOT more lore friendly than say... the Maniac, Spiked and the Skull helmet.

You know Siner, I completely agree with you. They are indeed a bump up in quality from previous helmets that have been released. The NC one...well idk. Up to taste I guess. I guess my issue is its been almost 6 months since launch, I am sitting on 30,000 SC from triple SC sale back in December & I haven't seen a single cosmetic that interests me. I'm picky...admittedly I know but...

I just know SOE can do better. Its like watching your favorite athlete & seeing him play horribly. Your response is "Come on, you can do better!"

I wonder how much effort is actually required to make a headwear.

I always imagined 2 that hobby designers/texturers could make a batch over a weekend, assuming they had something to work from.

30k SC? I bought 20k, seemed like a lot at first, but when you first started buying... whoah, it disappeared quickly!

Perhaps SOE thinks the is no money in hats.

Perhaps they never heard of a little five year old first person hat simulator with ten times the players Planetside 2 has called Team Fortress 2.

I am starting to think that actually no they cant. It just seems to be lazy design and lack of creativity on their part.

I don't know about the other faction helmets, but the Protos helmets have to be the best of our lot. Maniac/Skull helmets are silly and the apex helmet just looks stupid. The Protos helmet is second-cheapest yet best looking.

I wish they'd do some proper MAX helms, why have all that armour and then basically wear a standard infantryman's helm?

I could only accept the commissar hat being given to people who have obtained BR76 in which you gain the title.
If you're allowed to buy it, it'll be stupid as hell.

Rumor has it that there are hats that will have a rank requirement. I have been following the whole hat/cosmetic discussion pretty closely since launch & even I am in the dark. I guess it would just be nice for a update or tell the community what is going on. Supposedly they have "all kinds of hats/armor already completed".

Bloody NC and TR are at it again... I want that hat!

Nah its totally a TR hat. Wouldn't be right for NC to get a commissar hat. Fits TR theme perfectly.
