[Suggestion] Cool 'F' button stuff for light assaults.

    Three things the 'F' button could do for the light assault.

    1. Infrared Goggles: Rather than having to use a weapon with inferred when spamming smoke grenades, use your infrared goggles.

    Possible upgrade: Extends Range of the infrared goggles.

    2. Sonic Boosters: Rather than having to using up the whole canister of gas with holding spacebar, become more maneuverable with the booster. This uses all up all your gas to move a certain distance.

    Possible upgrade: Decreases the amount of gas used up. Max level should allow only 3/4's of the gas to be drained.

    Note: The player would boost in the direction their jetpack is directed too, i.e Jump Jets for vertical, the other one for forward.

    3. Taxi Boosters: Feeling lonely when flying through the air? Take a buddy with you. This ability would allow the user to attach an ally (maybe even enemies) to their boosters and give them a lift. Of course maxes are allowed too.

    Note: The player would be attached to the front of the LA. If the player moves, then they are no longer attached to the LA.
    In addition, the amount drained per tick depends on the weight of the player they are giving a ride to.
    Weight from lightest to heaviest: Infiltrators, Medic, Engineers, Heavy Assault, Max

    Possible Upgrade: Decreases the amount drained giving a lift.

    Maxes should not be allowed to fly with the taxi, too big, bulky, and heavy.

    In his defense the ir gogs he suggested were not able to look through walls.
    Taxi sounds like I neat idea buti can't see it worth the coding.

    :oops: I'd be happy with almost anything on that list. We should get a crusade going next Higby Pls. If he sees enough people clamoring for a Light Assault tool or ability, he'll probably put his mind to it. I think people just aren't vocal enough about it. There's a new "HA should get more special weapons" thread every week, but the LA never even gets discussed.

    Probably because:
    1 - it's UP so nobody even plays it
    2 - those who do think that he's not UP because they haven't played long enough to understand that LA is UP
    3 - because every idea was discussed to death multiple times and I **** on people who are bringing them up to discuss them once again
    4 - game has larger issues than LA's problems

    I nearly fell out of my chair when they announced the medic and engineer updates. Why work on those classes who worked just just fine when this class needs obvious help.

    Then again maybe it's just recent skills I acquired but the LA has been working well compared to my usual infiltrator romping.

    You mean infrared goggles. Inferred goggles would be ones suggested through logical deduction. Not that they wouldn't be useful either, but I don't think that's what you meant.

    The devs are probably in same boat as everyone else, in that they want to give the LA something new, but they don't have any good ideas. Their old roadmap post was about adding dual wielding for LA, but that was (rightfully) shot down by the community.

    The more people suggest these ideas, the better chance they will be added to the game.

    The game does have bigger issues than LA problems, but we shouldn't let that stop us from not suggesting our ideas. If that were the case, the forum should remove their suggestions and replace it with bug reports.

    I honestly wonder how long we could break all the posting rules in this subforum before RadarX notices.

    Of course, someone would probably spoil our fun and report it which would defeat the purpose... but I'm guessing at least a month even with that.

    Funny how some people say that the LA is under powered, of course it could need a tool, I don't know what, but don't hate on me for mobile spawn points. The LA IMO is currently fine, it's the class I do best on, I manage a 5.4 KDR with it.

    Oh noes I mentioned my KDR please don't hate on me bads.

    Of the different things, I think the goggles would be the most useful and most practical to implement. Make it a F toggle not a passive though.

    I love the light assault class. It has a high skill ceiling, but it's extremely strong in the hands of a skilled player. LA doesn't need a buff, but it's still lackluster compared to the other classes. The jetpack is really the only thing they have going for them. They don't need a buff, but some sort of extra utility to put them more in line with the other classes would be nice.

    I like the switch modes idea a lot but one thing I'd also like to see is a horizontal boost system. Think of it like the after burner on vehicles. I know LA already have sprint but I was thinking if something that would be a single powerful boost in one of the four main directions but it burns all the jets fuel at once.

    So from standing still your could be boosted about 5-10 feet to either side, forward or backward. Could also help with trying to run to locations with a little boost to push your forward, possibly out of enemy fire. It would also be useful if you come around a corner and are suddenly face to face with an enemy to hit F and be the side or even behind them when the enemy starts firing.

    The only other thing is I think as LA there should be some type of air brake system. Like if you jump out of an ESF the jet pack should automatically try and slow your fall, at least some what. Maybe not a perfectly safe landing but it cuts the damage some. There is the implant that does that but this would be like a less effective version that only works if the jet pack has fuel. It would make using LA for Valk/Gal drops that little bit more useful, and help stop some of those new to the jet pack from going splat into the ground quite as much.
