I see so many people complaining about the construction system but I love it. My play style is probably 80 - 90% exclusively building bases and attempting to change the flow of combat. I've been building since they released it years ago, spent real monies to buy both the new and the old stuff, and I love the new changes they made a while back. I miss some of the old stuff, pain spires and AI turrets for example, but the new stuff is so much fun and I love all the extra items. A properly built base can literally change how the fight is flowing or completely stop enemies from advancing lattices. Sometimes it can stop an advance long enough to allow reinforcements to group up at a normal base and push. Routers can be key to keeping a fight going and if the base is situated in a good spot, it can provide an area for reinforcements and vehicles to keep attacking. I find bases can also organically create game play moments, there's nothing like a full on attack attempt made on a fully defended player base. Ants everywhere trying to refill the silo, fortress shields up keeping things protected, engineers frantically repairing things, walls being thrown up to prevent tanks from bombarding troops while enemy infs run amok inside the base trying to overload modules. Maybe somebody drops an OS on the base, maybe it kills it, maybe the fight keeps going as people frantically try to rebuild structures. Nothing like a base that's in a lattice that's been lost, surrounded by enemies and tanks, but the walls are still up and people are still spawning in while reinforcements are fighting back to link the lattice. Gives old TI/Crown all weekend fights before they added the alert system vibes. "Oh, VS warp-gated us? We're surround by enemy lattices but reinforcements are fighting back to us? It's Sunday afternoon and this fight started Friday night? We're still here mfs, don't leave cause we're gonna take the Crown if you do." Construction seems to be a core part of the game at this point and I hope it doesn't go anywhere.
So you are happy with the fact that players don't want to storm bases to destroy them, but simply spam them with tanks at structures until they collapse. And you like the fact that because of this you have to run around every minute and install Fortress Shield so that the base doesn't collapse. You are also happy with the fact that installing modules takes about 3-5 minutes every time you build. And the fact that as soon as enemies use Pocket OS on your base, your allies immediately stop respawning at this base. And you like trolls who are always ready to annoy you simply because they overload your modules or sit in stalker killing you or hack terminals to spam Vehicles to attack structures. Am I getting this right? Do you like THIS?
yeah your smoking crack dude construction blows. we cannot place construction items on 90% of the areas we used to in order to properly enclose a base. the dudes photo above is a perfect example of this, he can only do that on flat ground, you cant do that on ground that even has a spec of terrain difference. and this issue has been thrown under the rug for the rest of planetside 2's lifetime with no care at all to compensate for the stupid module concept they implemented. you know whats funny as i read the reddit comments on complaint post, the ones that get upvoted, are from the people who play on the dead servers and somehow the devs listen to it and fk it up for the rest of us. people who play on the dead servers should have no valid opinion on how the game should be balanced because they dont have the population to actually get those correct statistics to give out balance suggestions. for instance the noobs who cried about AI modules 1. mainly ESF losers who play on dead servers that cry about anti air turrets because they cant do their air to ground shidding and kill the noob ESF player that they been killing because he hid under the shield. 2. somehow ppl suck so bad they cant go under a AI turret and render it useless from hitting you. 3. somehow ppl suck so bad they couldn't kill a pain spire that only took 2 c4 and a rocket to delete. ramps are utterly useless now and you cant use them like we used to being able to place them directly behind walls because now we have the dumb modules in the way preventing it and leaving a huge gap vehicles can get stuck in. infils can still hack command center terminals and deploy a sundy inside your base, and with the sundy update, that became even more cringe and nothing is done about it with no care at all. construction died with the update. and what do you know, with every update catering to the small percentage of crybabies, you actually cause more players to quit because your taking out the last things they actually enjoy about the game that actually make it fun, but for the sake of "BaLanCE" you remove it and cause players to quit because no one wants to play a boring game. majority of players left when: CAI was introduced graphics went to dog invis ant was removed biolabs were made boring indar bridge was removed oshur was changed with seaposts construction was changed flashes where nerfed harrassers where nerfed rifles got their burst and single shot options removed 13 second respawn was put in routers could be placed on the map no matter the location and no distance limiter was implemented pocket OS infantryside imbalance with heavy assault and medic spamming liberators nerfed ESF a2g nerfed and more. taking out all the fun aspects of the game one update at a time just causes people to leave and the only ones who play now, are the small percentage of crybabies like we have today. how odd.
You love the improvements? You're in the minority I'm afraid. I genuinely liked the new buildings, and changes to some existing construction objects like the bunker, which I previously avoided. Until construction gets more tools against vehicles (more AV turrets) Its still going to be over reliant on the fortress shield module to prevent vehicle based attacks. Even then, they can just get inside the bubble. There is more though, like being able to deconstruct allied placements within your own silo, and unforgiving placement arrows for some buildings like the sunderer garage or solid wall. In the meantime I'll be gripping my skull in frustration dealing with the current problems and weaknesses of construction.
Yeah really lol. (minority comment) The devs most recent announcements of a refund being impossible for Sunderers, indicates that Construction is done for. Dozen new structures added, all pointless, how do they plan on cleaning up Construction role in the future, if they cannot remove and refund items? They also sold packs for DBC. They officially ruined the role, forever, via Fortification update...
Where are you even building, your, burrow? What are you a mouse? Bases are built on flat ground whether you like it or not! But yeah, the new structures are not ideal. They are simply improper designs altogether. And in return we got nothing, construction is in general same old, same old, with improper designs added on top. Well actually we did get something, our time to construct a base got tripled due to new modules, together with the improper designs of new structures yeah. Construction is in such an unplayable state that it's not even worth making a list of flaws. If I were to regain my memory of flaws from original construction (from the past), added with these new flaws, it'd be pages long.
How hard you really tried on Hossin? Recently seen one that at least seemed helpful for ground pounders I really just don’t believe you’ve tried hard enough Silly to think you try something so unique once or twice to write it off as worthless…
Right on OP I do think some of us hope to see more utilization Partly given limitations for placement Doesn’t help to see someone place a wall/turret smack dab out in open space and just leave
Maybe help if base building at least w/o silo’s that the game looked at rank? I dunno Can’t even change remove things at times Kinda frustrating Sadly I know some quite proficient at base building too
The way its setup, with the middle pillars requiring touching the ground, none of the places I would've used it could've used it. There are tons of places on Hossin it would be awesome, if it wasn't setup so badly.
Yes. Constructions are awesome. It's so cool that I have been playing PS2 less and less and at the moment I haven't played the game for several months and I have no desire to yet. And honestly, I don't care anymore what you do with this game. Do whatever you want. I just sometimes browse the forum page. Maybe I'll come back in a few months, just to see what state the game is in and hear some ingame speech sounds of TR and NC that may be nostalgic (dont like VS speech sounds much). I prefer to play online chess and StarCraft ))
