Connery seems empty.

Recently it seems like Connery is extremely slow. Even during prime time alerts I hardly hear any chatter on command and it seems like I only see one decent sized fight per continent, if that.

I don't know if there's a place to check player counts, but does it seem to anyone else like Connery has suddenly emptied out in the last 2-3 weeks?

I also aware of this issue. I've been checking server populations from all US servers. 2 weeks ago fights were intense everywhere in Indar and Esamire in Connery server, and the server was heavy. I also needed to wait in line to get into the Indar map. Last week, I felt like 1/4 population dropped, and today, I feel like we only have half of the population compared to 2 weeks ago. Populations from all servers seem to drop a lot recently. This looks abnormal, perhaps, a new shooting game released and everyone moved???

    3 main causes:
    1. People left as soon as they heard about pay to win implants.
    2. People left hearing about SOE recruit awards and GU12 server tweeks that increase the amount of new players (n00bs) in the servers. I've actually been seeing a HUGE amount of n00bs and I really hate that I can't find any good secondary gunners for my Magrider.
    3. They realized how bad of a game PS2 was. They must of got sick from all the instagib OP weapons and the TR exclusive vehicle leveling weapons also known as the striker and the fractures.
  4. PhilDun

    1. No new content since Harasser. Indicates that SoE is abandoning this sinking ship (and moving devs elsewhere) --> players hesitant to spend more money/time on a game that's going down the toilet.

    2. Steam Sale probably the nail in the coffin

    3. The only meaningful progress stat (k/d ratio) has now been neutered

    4. Noob weapons are prevalent + annoying (Strikers still exist, WHAT THE **** DEVS)
  5. DarkerHalf

Yeah, Esamir is what really made me notice. A couple weeks ago Esamir was rocking. I could get on any time of day and get some awesome running fights in tanks or battle-buses. Now I log on and there's nothing except indar again. It's like it reverted to the off hours before the last server merge. The last couple changes didn't change too much, but they seem to have made Esamir and Amerish into ghost towns again.

Ehh, whats really turning me off is the fact that the VS have most of the player online and the best players. Here on
Connery the VS usually win alerts. Mainly because TR are to stupid to understand 2v1 the NC is a bad idea when VS just butt ***** your back after words...
  7. vanu123

The only reason we win alerts is because of organization. Nothing else.
  8. vanu123

I never really noticed the server being unpopulated. I think it is pretty stable right now.

For me, the latency has been horrible. also bad FPS drops in certain areas.

After crashing my ESF 3 times because the server decided to lag for 3 seconds when I was headed to a mountain, kind of didn't make me want to play anymore.

Or when everything was fine, and I'm on a kill streak, now suddenly everyone looks like they're hacking (lag again) also a reason to log out.

Each time I log out, the longer it takes before I start playing again.

It's hard to get people to want to fight the VS normally in the first place. During an Alert? even if they aren't playing to the Alert objective, forget about it. Point them towards something blue and yellow and they charge.

If you want an unamusing anecdote, during last night's Power Rush, the VS owned all but two Amp Stations, both of which were owned by the TR. People in my platoon: "The NC are being useless."

    There you go.

Want to know where? The Steam summer sale. They'll be back don't worry
  13. DarkerHalf

Well, at least I'm not imagining things. The peak numbers on that are half of what they were in June.
  14. Chipay

Yeah, seems like all servers are dying, death of another giant

The amount of stupid in this thread is mind boggling.

You have to be kidding me. New ESAMIR?! Hello...

Go play COD or CS or something.

Lets all laugh for a minute. Not because of the post, but because it's probably true. :(

Steam Summer Sale is probably having an effect. I personally haven't logged in since it started.

Too busy researching/buying/trading/playing with my new toys to play PS2 at the moment and I'm sure others are doing the same.

Our unit has been effected by a few things that have people playing elsewhere:

    - Steam sales have about a 3rd going back to old games as a break
    - Combination of lattice and recent patches has induced lag and lowered frame rates

Lots of new games (non-multiplayer) are out - the few gamer friends I have are switching between games. It is also officially the summer vacation season - we will see folks with families leaving town for vacation, or taking kids to camps.

From the people I've talked to, they're waiting for a fix on the exceptional but random Connery lag issues.
They want to play, but refuse to deal with the frustrations lag brings, like dying to lag over and over.

When GU13 arrives with the terrain and base layout changes I suspect even the lag won't keep them away.

Then again Connery has been fickle.
TR own the late night, early early AM.
NC own the mid mornings and afternoons.
VR own the night (as though they work during the day or something).

Weekends seem to be a toss up.

I haven't played any other game than Planetside 2 for a couple months, but now that I have a bunch of games from the Steam sale, I'll play those for a while. The server lag has been so comically bad on Connery that the only way I can participate in a large battle is by getting some chips and watch tanks roll around like tumbleweeds. Then there's the no-damage flak bug making it hard to deal with any air, which is disappointing since I just spent my certs from the double XP on the Skyguard.

Ultimately, the next game update is what will get my attention again, since I'm excited for the base redesigns on Esamir and (hopefully) for a fix to make Connery more stable. Plus, there will probably going to be so many llama pilots flying through the air due to the ESF changes for my Skyguard to feed upon. Not too happy about the Esamir lattice, but I don't mind it so much if it results in better base design.
