Connery and Helios getting merged soon

    Per Higby on his twitter feed, Connery and Helios are getting merged soon. Looks like we'll end up with a humongous server, where NC players may be locked out of 2 continents. Oh well game on, I don't mind the merge. The low pop of TR on Helios will get a healthy dose of 40% TR population on Connery, the low pop of VS on Connery will get boosted by the 35% VS pop on Helios.

    @TRG_gamingclan we will be doing connery and helios merge pretty soon.

    I'm happy for all "Connerians", so only us Woodman folks still have the short end of the stick :(

    I hope the plans to make playing the less dominant factions and on the less populated continents get implemented as fast as possible.

    Uhm, there's literally no other west coast servers to merge you with.

    Also, lets say your VS/TR/NC ratios on your server are: 30/35/35

    Now lets say the other server is: 28/32/40

    The resulting population ratios would be: 29/33/38

    Sure, your faction might have a little bit less than before, but the other server is actually much closer to balanced than it was.

    And in fact, the 38% pop faction will more often hit max pop and queues, allowing your faction at less of a disadvantage

    I was one of the biggest advocates for Jaeger and Soltech merges, however Mattherson and Waterson (especially Mattherson) became a giant mess post-merge.

    If you guys think the lag on Connery is bad now (there's quite a few forum posts now) kiss your medkits goodbye even at 1 am local once that merge happens that server will be way bigger than any others.

    For those who are fortunate enough not to know, medkits are one of the first things that break once the server begins to lag, it eats your medkit, restores your to full hp for about 1-2 seconds and then drops right back to your pre-medkit HP state.

    Been getting kind of tired of being overwhelmed by a NC pop that is twice the size of each of the other two factions so this could be a good change.

    Uh oh. I live off medkits. I've taken so many of them I have an addiction. Like I'll eat them. With full health.

    It's tiring to hear about population complaints when Indar is often at 33/33/33. People need to stop looking at world population and check out the continent population. You are not outnumbered, unless you fight regularly on Amerish & Esamir as TR. If you know how population locks work, each faction can't have more than a set # of people on a continent at a time. So no matter if NC's world population says 40%, they only have 33% of the slice on Indar most of the times.

    Anyways, the merge won't change Indar, it'll simply make Esamir or Amerish a 33/33/33 continent. NC will likely have population locks on 2 continents, which may suck a bit but if I can find fights, I won't complain.

    Well its quite hopeless for the 2 outnumbered factions when the NC is so overpoped that only Indar is balanced, while the NC kept TR/VS warp gated on both Esamir/Amerish like yesterday evening on Helios... so even the 33% on Indar has the resource advantages to use on their side.

    I hardly call the current resource bonus a "resource advantage", but that's fine if you want to call it that. The best resource advantage you can have is having territorial control on Indar, since Indar is the balanced continent. Although after the Helios & Connery merge, either Esamir or Amerish will also have that 33/33/33 balance.

    Seriously when Indar is the most balanced continent these days, it really doesn't matter what happens on Esamir or Amerish. People ghost cap it throughout the day & night.

    What time yesterday evening? When I was on, TR and VS each owned one of Esa/Ame and NC was in the process of getting gated on Ind.

    It would have been around 11 pm Eastern, 8 pm Pacific on Helios.

    A smart faction typically caps Esamir/Amerish in the evening hours just before prime time, and then go fight the big fights during prime time. Doesn't matter who owns it overnight or earlier in the day.

    This is my biggest worry... Connery may not be a raging battleground 24/7 like other servers, but there aren't any queues I'm aware of (I play VS) and the lag prior to 2xp weekend was non-existent. Yeah you had to look for a fight during off-hours, but you could always find good fights during prime time around 6-10pm PST.

    Hopefully a hardware upgrade comes with the merge.
