Complaing about TR population . . .

. . . and just population in general. Whats the point? I mean really, what is the point? What are you accomplishing by yelling at the TR for being over populated? Do you think we asked the fourth faction to join use for this warp gate rotation? You whine about us being over populated like it is some how our fault? I am quite sure the developers are aware of the population balance, don't yell at us that our populations are un balanced and that the only reason we won some alert is because of our population Populations will ALWAYS be unbalanced in this game as long as the fourth faction exists. And honestly, as ridiculously big as the fourth faction is in this game, i'm not sure there is much we can do about it. Now quit whining and wait your turn for the South Indar warpgate, instead of clogging the fourms up with threads complaining about something that is out of our power, and maybe even the devs power. Its not TR's fault, it wasn't NC's fault when they had the higher population last rotation, it is the fourth faction's fault.

I agree whining about population is a pain, regardless of which faction does it.

I suppose it serves the purpose of letting SOE know that the issue is still salient to their player base though, and it keeps reminding them that they need to do something about it (I don't know if they are and what they've got planned).

That's supposing SOE Forum Readers care and pay attention to these threads...

Are you suggesting that posting a thread doing what your asking other people to stop doing is a particularly effective solution?

The point is that people would like something made that would make battles fun even if you're outnumbered 15%. Right now it feels damn futile if you try. This just demotivates people and makes them log of or just quit the game entirely (or become 4th factioneers).

Right now on a some servers TR are overpopulated so they get the brunt of these complaints, but it's also true on servers where the NC or VS hold a big population advantage. So it's not as much about the TR, but about wanting to have a nice fight regardless of faction.
  5. Efrizial

I think the complain is meant for the people in-game that use /yell to insult the over-populated faction.
  6. Heero

The 4th faction is a myth... look at the population of the servers that are "over populated" with TR and you'll see there is no more TR now then there was 3 months ago when people were saying NC had the 4th faction...

Its more likely that the server with the huge balance problems are the ones that aren't set as "recommended server", thus no new players are joining and the faction with the most big active outfits is the one that is overpopulated.

How are the NC and VS populations going to rise if no new players can even see the server on the list without clicking a tab at the bottom to show it?
  7. Bankrotas

This site only shows till march. It's bad reference, if it doesn't show from the start.

Nobody cares that you're TR. People just want a fair-ish game, and population differences are a legitimate issue. It just so happens that you're the faction that is the most populated. Congrats.

Not for Helios TR, we always have the lowest pop most of the time. However one strange thing I would like to note is that Helios was a recommended server for a new NC character when I thought about making one yesterday.

Usually the 4th faction indicates which faction is OP though. At least I found that a pretty good indication when NC was clearly better and VS was clearly better. So if they're using it as some sort of argument to say some faction is OP, fine.

I agree that complaining about stuff like this is pretty damn worthless though. All the devs can really do to balance that is to balance the actual game, which seems pretty balanced to me, or at least not in the 4th faction's favour.

It's funny that while factions ask people to stop complaining about their insane population levels, they will still gloat like massive egotists every time they get a triple cap, even if the population percentages make it a dead certainty from the outset...

    Funny that.

    Two choices...

    1. Don't gloat about victories, and as a result don't get any complaints about your insane population.

    2. Gloat about your victories won off the back of your population advantage, and get complained at for it.

    Take your pick.

    Example:
    https://forums.station.sony.com/ps2/index.php?threads/cant-spell-triple-lock-without-the-tr-behold-the-superior-skill-of-peoples-army.127112/page-2#post-1745680
People move from faction to faction based on hysteria. Once one faction gets a population advantage, then more and more people will flood there because "Wow, everyone is playing for that faction... They must have some super-OP gear!"

People like being on the winning side. The winning side is the one that has the higher numbers. The only real resource in this game, is players.

A small shift in population gives a faction a slight advantage, then that trickle of people switching factions becomes a torrent as people see that small advantage and flock to it. The whims of the 4th faction are completely seperate to game balance, and what little relation it bears is totally thrown out of proportion by the numbers...

3 months is far enough considering the TR threads have only been popping up in the last few weeks, if you go back even more you enter the "new game surge" era which doesn't tell you much other than lots of people were trying the game
  13. sindz

So you really think its about warpgate rotation that TR suddenly has the 4th faction?

    A hint: Its not.
  14. Crowne

I think we'd be doing the devs a disservice if we don't mention something that is clearly annoying to a growing number of players. If people just quietly stop logging in, that only makes matters worse.

Using the /yell command to harass over-populated factions is dumb, I'd definitely agree with that.

Unfortunately, most of the time cross-factional yells are nothing more than pubescent, hormonal angst. As an adult just wanting to chill out, it does eventually get annoying. Every once in a while, there's some friendly back and forth between those of us who don't feel the need to hate... but to be honest it's very rare.

I can't really think of any value in having cross-factional /yell. As I said, most of the time it is people trash-talking, and generally not yet having learned the difference between a witty jab, and a grossly offensive comment.

Just do away with cross-factional /yell entirely. It serves no purpose, and just generally creates an outlet for immaturity the rest of us don't log in for, or need.

You can't make this a fair game. You can't make it so that everyones has a fair pop since that would remove the freedom of choice for players to play TR, NC or VS.

SOE would never do it since that would put players off or even lose some.

I'm sorry but stop crying about it and man up.
  16. StB2000

In Miller there is many newbies right now. So it's not 4th faction. For an unknown reason, there was (is) a huge rush of new players choosing TR. As an NC, i found some newbs in my faction lately but not as much as in TR.
  17. Hemi

Couldn't agree more. The gloating on these boards and in the game is dumb. Eat some humble pie already. I believe the ones that do gloat have a shortage of brain cells. Why would you even want to gloat, specially in a general discussion board for a game. Is this your own private forum? Does this contribute to the game in any way?

    NO!! SO GT*FO!!

srry...but I really despise those threads...
Per definition you are a n00b player posting those.
  18. MikeyGeeMan

The population imbalance is due to a few reasons.

    1. TR is retaining more players. Why? They like what they see and hear from in game. They like the leadership and they like the play style.

    2. TR is getting more new players. Why? Check the forums, when people read they see how the other factions act and choose TR.

Everyone needs to change up their approach.
  19. Sen7ryGun84

I'm gonna copy this for later and copy paste it at every warpgate rotation with the north empires letters thrown into it lol.

You CAN make it more fair by doing things such as eliminating the 4th faction. This just should not even exist. Once you pick a faction on a server, either stick with it or delete and re-create if you must play on the same server. Want to play all 3 factions? fine, but do it on 3 different servers. You can also put into place some minor penalties, such as increased vehicle costs or gear costs or even respwn timers increasing by simply a matter of a few seconds once a population hits a certain percentage. Hell, it would sort of simulate the effect of the supply line effect where you can't get as many supplies to your troops since the supply lines are strung out across furthers distances and more people. There are PLENTY of other options out there for the devs other than removing their "freedom of choice" as you have put it. The point of the people complaining about population for any faction on any server is because it IS an issue that needs addressing and adjusting.

Because people are repeatedly pointing out an issue that a majority of the player base can acknowledge, that automatically makes them a crier or a whiner or less of a player? Give me a break...
