I got the eidolon despite all of the bad press, with 3.4x scope, laser, and comp. - All in all, it's a lot of fun, maybe not as effective as other guns, but very satisfying in the right situation. - the compensator does help the vertical recoil a lot, and lets you put shots on target much quicker, due to the faster reset. I'm a huge fan and user of nova with slugs. To compare the two, I'd say that eidolon lets you suppress an area better, and the slugs put a greater hurt on people. The bullet velocity and target leading is noticeably better on the eidolon, which is more forgiving than slugs, but it does take a lot more hits to kill. However eidolon is better in CQC. I say get both if that is your style, eidolon is a fun challenge.
Please SOE, take a look and adjust the battle rifles. They fit my play style, and it's hard to not use alternatives. Consider adjusting damage drop off and damage done. Right now they are inferior to other options.
