[Comedy] Sniping Rant (about upcoming changes)

    and no, as much as you dont want to see: snipers in future might get spott BUFF becoming esential unit for def & atk
    as for rifles they are good weapons and i cant imagine fps game w/o it!

    I am perfectly happy with the new 250m for my M-77b. Past that, its really hard to hit anything consistently. And with the no sway on the ScRs, they might actually be used for once lol. I really can't wait to see what the console peasants will say when they see that Sniper rifles not OHKing everything in render range :rolleyes:.

    The changes are a good buff. If you get headshot at 250-300m, either you made a poor choice or somone else made a good choice. It also comes down to luck, and it only takes getting headshotted once to know 'It's not safe here, time to stop standing in the open!' So you either deserve to die, or someone else deserves the kill. Inside of 150m, there's a lot more that could've killed you and there's a lot more that could kill the guy that just scored a headshot on you.

    Personally I am infinitely more upset when I get OHK'd by an ubgl or shot with a dumbfire when coming around a corner. Don't bash other people's playstyles because YOU don't like it.

    I don't play Infiltrator much, but pretty much they're screwing a lot of things up in the next patch. I think the devs just get mad when they're crapped upon thus qq, everyone will now be restricted to cqc with smgs and shotguns, because LMG's/Carbines(not as much)/Assault Rifles are taking a hit and vehicles, you know those things that are supposed to be force multipliers, will soon become wasted certs.

    Then again with the shorter range fast bolt rifles, we're just going to have an experience akin to that of Call of Duty.

    I got the Longshot shortly after I started into this game, I can't tell the difference between it and the Bolt Driver.I also got the Rams50 and it does the same job.

    Eh well, with the nano-weave changes I suppose I'm going to play NC more often, load up the cyclone and HA/LA the easy streaks. When medic btw you NC mains, you may want to give that Reaper DMR a look after this update XD!

    Test server, it makes me sick, but shows me that this balance pass is going to be a tough one to get through.

    I don't know what the current (preemptive) whining is for.

    Live T3 BASR: Theoretical 300m* headshot OHK, NW5 brings that down to 73m
    PTS T3 BASR: Guaranteed 300m headshot OHK

    * Technically it's unlimited, but practically that number is still 300m due to infantry render range.


    It looks like a straight up buff to me. What do you want now, one-shotting a Vanguard with your BASR?

    Didn't we used to get additional EXP for long range kills? Like 1 for every 2 meters over 150 or something? I somehow remember that being a thing at the Crown.

    so it was good that someone could spend 22 certs and effectively throw your OHK range into the crapper? I'm still not getting where all this push back is coming from. its pretty much a blanket buff giving snipers more insurance that their hit will kill if they are using the right rifle for the right job. before it was roll the dice and hope they didn't have NW. Options are pretty much being expanded for both long range and close range sniper style and the complaining is flowing in without much justification.

    I know this thread was labeled comedy, but if you are serious :

    Sniping in its current state will see a loss of OHKO heads shots @ around 70 M for players wearing nano 5. (Which is also by far the most popular suit slot)

    The fact that you are guaranteed a OHK out to 300 M with the highest tier represents a huge buff to people who want to play "sniper" instead of infiltrator.

    As for skill, yes there is a higher degree of *aiming* skill in leading a single shot on a sprinting target at 250 M than spraying a hipfire carbine at 10 M. However, if you have a half decent positioning, you are pretty much removed from danger where as the player at 10 M has a 360 degree sphere of death around them. So things like awareness and positioning greatly compound the overall *player* skill involved.

    As a sniper I can sit outside the fight, wait for people to stop moving and just pick them off as I see fit. When I want a slight challenge, can pick them off on the move. The only thing I have to worry about outside of 100 M is being counter sniped, because no class is going to be accurate enough to drop me before I slip back into cover / cloak.

    Basically, sniping is a low risk medium reward play style for just about any skill level of player and these changes remove the only protection others had from sniping. (Granted, Nanoweave was too good/ universal but we are sort of back to square one now)

    this is what i dont like in you ppl: im talking about sniper changes NOT NANOWEAVE....its sorta connected but i am talking about that ******* range that prevents you from getting kill w/ snipers like boldt-driver or XM98.. or what the hell ever TR had

    So in the past you had 10m for OHK now you have 150 or 300 and you whine lol.Whats the whine for anyway 99% of infs are SMG junkies anyway.

    Yep, between bases I'll at least be in a solo-harasser. No need to be sniper bait! Engie turrets will be more of a gamble now, unless I cheese it and get an altitude advantage.

    Radar + Marauder means it's time to farm those annoying snipers 300m out from the fight not helping their teams.

    (I don't hate infiltrators, I hate snipers :p )

    Isn't 300m render range? I fully agree with rants about the 150m proposal and think that any limit is dumb in principle, but realistically a 300m limit is going to make very little difference ... and remember nanoweave got nerfed so you actually get that OHK on everyone now.

    You can't just look at the sniper changes in a vacuum and ignore other changes that are going through. The nano-weave nerf affects snipers a lot more than an smg because 2 extra bullets from an SMG take as little as 0.15 seconds, while a follow-up shot with a bolt-action can take approximately a full second (I can't find how long it takes to chamber another round and zoom again). The removal of nano-weave affecting the head also makes it so that sniping is consistent.

    To rail the developers as stupid for this "nerf" is not funny nor fair to them.
