No, the playstyle is changed dramatically. It becomes a scout rifle pretty much. It is the only weapon in this game that uses an attachment to play an entirely different role. This thread is about shotguns in CQC, so why are you even talking about slugs? Its not relevant at all.

So to say on topic ill ask you again: Can Shotguns burst fire like a SMG?
  2. FreelancePanic

Shotguns only feel OP because most of the infantry combat is focused in small spaces (defending/attacking a point or gen, which are located in small rooms most of the time). A shotgun user (including myself, as I own a semi-auto and pump shotgun) should feel vulnerable while walking around with one, carefully choosing his prey. Instead, while I hold one in my hands, I know I'll be winning most encounters since most take place in ranges where the shotgun works very well.

Since the fix would require entire overhauls of bases and rooms, I doubt we'd be seeing a fix anytime soon. Till then, just cough up a bit of dough and grab a shotgun of your own, or you'll be disadvantaged as carbines and SMGs don't work as well as an instant kill.

Why does every single post here end up in a flame war... really feel the global intelligence of gamers has decreased after reading thread after thread of people who are for or against one thing or another just flaming each other, not intelligent, factual conversation.

brings this to mind, cause it's where we are heading.

    With slugs, yes.

Shotguns can CQC with the slugs, they have .75 shoulderfire movement speed, fairly good COFS hipfired, and can get their old TTK with as much as a single headshot (PUMP Shotguns can't really CQC with slugs, but the Auto-shotguns certainly can.... While performing like a VERY high capacity and long range SMG.)

A skilled slug user CAN out CQC you better then most SMG's.... And can range effectively as well.

A shotgun user who relies on pellets totally obsoletes SMG's at their intended role, when SMG's basically don't work at all at medium range, once again, unless you count the 2 grace pellets either will land at 30 meters a gamechanger.

Smg's cannot really overcome that range disadvantage, but a sluggun can.
A shotgun totally obsoletes SMG's at their intended role, and a sluggun totally matches them at it (While obsoleting them at their unintended role that is their "Saving grace" over shoguns.)

OP is a coward who can't post his players name
  6. Maljas23

Does this mean you CQC with slugs when using a Shotgun? Do you think a SMG will beat a slug shotgun in CQC? Do you think slugs are overpowered then since, according to you, they can retain their TTK in CQC?

And besides all those questions for you, SMGs can perform medium range without the need of an attachment, unlike shotguns.
  7. WalrusJones

I think slugs take far more practice then Shot, and could very well be the big hidden overpowered thing that nobody really cares about.

Shot takes no practice, can eliminate someone using an SMG in half the time the SMG user needs to kill them, and has an infinite firetime in comparison to an SMG: Which will eventually need to sight, or let go of the trigger due to bloom in a CQC scenario.

    Shotguns don't have this flaw.
  8. Maljas23

I am willing to make the assumption here that the thing that the OP feels is overpowered about shotguns isn't the fact that in CQC, slugs can still destroy you. I'm willing to also make the assumption that most people who play this game don't use slugs to CQC because they know how luck based it is with a single grouping of pellets vs a spread of pellets.

If anyone else agrees with this person, please comment because I was not aware people equip slugs to CQC.

For a slug shotgun at medium range, missing a target means a lot more than with a SMG. You have more ammo, and have generally have soft-point ammo to extend your effective range.

However, my biggest point that is focused entirely on the OPs title for this thread, is that shotguns are meant to be used entirely in CQC. Every single variation of the shotgun does not change that fact. Yes, you can equip slug ammo but that is not the point of this thread. This is the only reason shotguns are so powerful in CQC. There is nothing else... so please stop complaining about it.
  9. WalrusJones

I really hope your definition of medium range is longer then the catwalks on the towers, I really do.
  10. Maljas23

Again the defined range isn't even important considering my reply was for you and not for the OP. You said SMGs and shotguns can fight at the exact same ranges but thats not true at all because SMGs can indeed fight longer. The biggest proof of that is soft-point ammunition and the fact that SMGs are allowed to burst fire.

As a player of PS1, I'm getting a kick at all these CQC QQ threads about shotguns.

You don't know what CQC hell is until you're faced with lasher/thumper/pounder spam down an enclosed stairwell with the entire enemy team one flight above you and your entire team one flight down.

Most of the SMG's have recoil bad enough to only end up landing a handful of shots at range if you go any faster then semi auto.
  16. TeknoBug

That guy in the video is a camping nerd and BO2 is the worst CoD title to date.
  17. ViXeN

What? He only went 31-12 camping with the shotgun? LOL Yeah, the guy in the video definitely isn't a good player then. Personally I don't respect that kind of play in pubs. In competitive matches its fine, you do what you need to do to win. But in pubs its just not cool at all. That is my opnion about that.

Now I'm guilty of using the shotgun a lot in pubs but I always rushed with it. Back when I played CS and MW2 I loved the shotgun and used it often but I honestly haven't used it in games since then. I realized that what I was doing wasn't challenging me enough so I stopped using them because if you rely on extremely powerful weapons too much it will be like a crutch and over time you may lose some of your skill as a result.

But yeah, I quit the COD series after MW2 because I despise the same recycled junk and the whole "COD Kid" mentality.
