/Signed This sounds like so much fun. And - The *possible* greater infantry effectiveness would also be fun - fighting in areas too tight for full armored columns and in alley ways where 12 airstrikes hitting you consecutively isn't as likely... sounds like urban warfare heaven. I like open combat too and would never suggest complete removal of air or tanks, but it would be fun to have some areas where infantry could really shine, without our dead bodies ricocheting between the barrel of a tank and the rocket pods of a fighter. I just mean close combat situations where 12 tanks and 12 fighters don't simply rain death on you, rather they'd have to single/double file through the larger streets, or the planes would have to navigate closely situated buildings/skyscrapers.
Planetside 1 had underground fights. And ziplines. Ugh. It was horrible. However, I do like the idea of having to use flashlights and Night vision in dark areas.
Actually what I would LOVE to see (but it'd take so damn long to make) a vertical warfare city...a city where it's so crowded they had to build up not out...Imagine levels and levels of tall buildings and extreme urban combat...not to mention the possibility of hiding in the city's shadows, waiting for your prey...
Urban warfare would be a LOT of fun. As someone said already, cooperation between armour and infantry would actually be important, which I relive is a very good thing.
I think a large city in the center of a continent would make sense. The first colony where it all began. A place that highlights the fact that once upon a time they were all working towards a single goal but now they fight for their own ideals. Plus I think it would make the crown look like a sissy slap fight and give infantry a place to be king besides bio labs.
It is. Amp stations, bio labs, tech stations, outposts... All have a single main spawn, best if located outside the main building in tank-accessible areas. This thread is quite a nice brainstorm/feature request, so I'll add in. The Capitol City concept could be an enlarged version of PS1's legendary Sanctuaries (never played PS1 thus legendary from my perspective). I'm a bit cautious about adding NPCs, but some form of information about the lore would be nice. A proving ground where people could see how various weapons work, practice teamwork and tactics could take a large part of this Capitol- there's a war going on anyway. As for cities- abandoned and destroyed places would add lots to the feel of the game. There's an abandoned NC office or something in Northern Indar, but the only obviously derelict thing there is a tilted ammo distributor tower. The whole game is quite sterile- everything is in order, no bomb craters or holes blasted through walls. Up next- the undergrounds... These could be dark, really dark, but some sort of feature would have to be added to keep the darkness regardless of screen settings. With this feature, dark nights would work nicely and would be also something that must be done. The Vanu underground cities would allow some cool architecture to be implemented... And perhaps the Vanu themselves, not happy that we're disturbing their peaceful underground life. I'm all for giving Planetside 2 a slightly more creepy atmosphere, at least in the urban and underground areas, and during the night. Even knowing one could respawn easily people would still play carefully and watch each other's backs not knowing where the enemy might be hiding. Those who wouldn't team up with others might enjoy some more adrenaline. Thus the game gets much more depth.
Instead of them developing 3 contitnents bassed around the 3 factions as citys, what about one city continent with 4 sectors. 1 for each faction, and then 1 based around the Nanite systems theme (basically every building currently in game)
hmm, i think that 3 cities (one for each faction) it's not something possible, as all faction are just humans. Remember : earth sent humans on auraxis by a worm hole, then the hole collapsed, trapping people far from home. Then, scientists, who was studying the Vanu's technology, started to have problems with the authorities which wasn't agree with that research. NC are only some hippies with weapons. So, have a human city would be normal (they started to build it) but a vanu and (even more) a nc city would have no place in the lore.
