while reviewing rules of content do to bordom wating for the pts pach notes to be send out. rules of content 4 i wish to discuss the cfaa [Computer Fraud and Abuse Act] not many may know that recently in the past year by HiQ v. LinkedIn changes how the user enters into programs and websights. an open a closed or a non existent gate. As daybreak is a close gate system do to how accounts are made. im sorry but any in game stats for nerds must be done by the provided programs of daybreak. if it isn't then we violate cfaa. if we violate cfaa we also violate us code 1030 becuse we inected code into the program provied by daybrake games. just a disabled person trying to stop cheaters while wateing for new gameplay.
Do you not know what an API is? All the data for all the popular programs and websites people use is provided, legally, by DBG. Never mind that a player's stats are not considered to be protected by any privacy act as they are not personal data, nor can they lead to a person being identified by them. In a few cases, like with the alt-finder, they are acting in bad faith and using the data in a way it was not meant to be used... but even then it still doesn't break any privacy acts and certainly not CFAA.
im sorry but any program that runes during and modifies code falles under this section. HiQ v. LinkedIn. passive is fine aka steam overlay or discord and webights but active not at all.
unless the the active overlay can porovide clean room reverce enginering on how it funtions im sorry but as it stand under united states law its in viloation.
"DBG Approved We have worked with DBG to ensure the client was safe for use with Planetside, for both the players and the servers. DBG has approved our third party client for use with PlanetSide 2." I know you're trolling, but come on, at least try a little harder.
This is where you're wrong. Copyright can be done with a functional code but has been written by humans as it was written by Sony so long ago and transfer to daybreak it does matter. Because this the active overlay does modify the Copyrighted code by changing how data is rendered from the game engine. This is where the cfaa comes in as the modification from the user then triggers the us code chapter 18 1030.
