Me and my mate, we've been playing in a squad of two for quite some time now as a heavy assault with carapace implant and a medic who heals him with the goal of getting to a Godsaw. I know some people might find this cheesy, but there are things way cheaper in this game and certainly more profitable. So far we've auraxed a gauss saw and are working on GD-22S and we've been using flak armor and resist shield on the heavy. As it turned out just yesterday using nanoweave and adrenaline shield is much much better. Now, the implants used on heavy were Carapace (obviously) and Ammo Printer, but I am starting to think there are better options. I've been thinking of using - Assassin implant to spot enemies with each hit and clear spots - Vampire implant to get some health back when killing with a secondary weapon - Maybe even Catlike? For the increased crouching speed during ADADAD dodging? What I want is suggestions and opinions, what do you think would be most useful implant to take alongside the carapace? I am seriously considering taking Vampire but am not sure yet.
Ocular implant 5 + resto kits + conc nades + resist shield + nade bandolier and then double it seems like a more successful carapace tactic to me. i'm currently saving up the 2400 iso for ocular 5 to do that loadout myself
I've seen a few pistolero-heavies with carapace+vampire. It looks like it works well in small fights if you can pop heads. It doesn't progress you towards the godsaw though I'd probably use battlehardened or regen myself.
If the medic is with the HA to heal him why use the vampire? The vampire implant instantly restores health on wielded melee and sidearm kills, so not only would it be useless considering the medic, but also non-beneficial given the focus on LMG kills. Also the catlike does not increase crouching speed as in how fast one dodges down, it increases crouching movement speed, as in how fast one moves while in the 'crouched' state. You would hardly do much ADAD while crouched, so that implant is rather useless too. If the HA dies a lot and the medic revives, might be more interesting to try the standard Safeguard, it grants a temporary shield on revive lasting up to 3.5 seconds.
When I run Heavy, which is not often, I equip Battle Hardened (as well as Regen because I don't have an arrangement with a Medic). IIRC Vampire is an Infil implant and only helps if you kill with a knife and maybe restores cloak energy?
@ OP, if you're planning on continuing using carapace and are merely wondering which second implant to take, I would recommend you try Battle Hardened.
