I rebooted my PC and was able to get to the character screen finally, waiting on the log-in. Might have just been chance. Good Luck
I hope that they can get this problem settled. It seems we're now cutting "deep" into the primetime for the US servers and I was hoping to test out and buy the Gauss Saw-lites of the VS and TR today.
I had the black screen problem, closed the game and reloaded many times and same result. Then I validated my game assets and it loaded the game just fine afterwards even though the validation said all my files were up to date. Go give that a try.
This is what I have been able to piece together. This "black screen" you folks have been talking about is what I believe to be the game trying to load, and I was able to figure this out because I did some testing to compare MMO games loading screen times. This game takes roughly 5-9 seconds depending on your specs, and the times I have recorded are almost on spot with eachother. I myself have been able to get into my character roster, but haven't been able to get in. This is also a personal diagnosis of MMO gaming of this year. Games have lost their quality, and have picked up content quantity in it's place. For example the MMORPG Starwars The Old Republic, two years back had an average amount of content, or an amazing amount, but what made it real to me was that the game ran so smoothly, but recently, they have slowed, if not stopped, the development of bug fixxing, which is rather disappointing because I really starting to feel it. This game SOE has great potential, and I think you should step up and make it run a lot better and smoother. A second isssue that Im seeing is the fact that many players are having right this moment, getting on the game. You guys need to work these things out before-hand so that players dont have to stress the situation, and can hop right back into their favorite action!
