You'll get crossbows and you'll like it.

forgive the question: but what is AR?
  4. Suiradezza

    Assault rifles.

Why? (note, "it has assault in it" isn't an argument)

I can totally see how having the Gauss rifle and ability to fly would be balanced..... NOT.

    thank you

LA's with assault rifles...so very awesome...
  8. Batisat

It would be great, but unbalanced as well.

And it doesn't make logical sense to do it either, a carbines whole purpose is mobile fire power- ARs are not meant for mobility (though obviously are better than LMGs) they are meant as standard issue type weapons. The light assault is specialized in mobility thus they get the better for mobile troops gun.

I always though engineers should have access to Assault Rifles, but I guess that would be a bit much for that class as well.

Engineers are vehicle people where a shorter weapon is needed for the cramped spaces.

Whenever we say we want ARs everyone who doesn't even play the class comes outta nowhere shouting "nooooo nevuurrrrrr u no can haaazzzzzz". Lol why doesn't anyone like us? :( I honestly don't see the problem with the suggestion.

Edit: Seriously though why do people have problem with LAs having a slight advantage in infantry combat? I don't get it.

For everyone who thinks its unbalanced for the Light ASSAULT to get Assault Rifles is just plain silly.

Lemme throw out some stats for you all...

Carbines and Assault Rifles are very similar.

    Carbines have:
    1) Tighter COF,
    2) A greater dmg drop off (by 1 tier) at maximum range
    3) Same bloom increase/shot as ARs
    4) Faster Reloads
    5) Same recoil decrease
    6) Same movement ADS speeds

Sooooo, adding ARs gives us ONE thing in advantage... more dmg at further ranges by 1 tier. Which frankly if you are an LA taking pot shots at people from 65m - 75m away... you aren't even playing your class correctly anyways!

Most successful LA's aren't tree campers, they are the flankers, Tower specialists, C4 crazy jumpers, and CQC crazies

Adding ARs will just give us MORE selection for weapons, it really doesn't make anything unbalanced.... So quit backing up a silly statement.

Of course a person who mainly plays Medic are going to say this. Where does it say AR's are not meant for mobility? Add a stock to a gun, and all of the sudden its not "mobile"? I guess the medic cant sprint, or jump, right?

Because anyone who doesn't play LA wants an advantage....or better yet, doesn't want someone to have a better chance of killing them. Look at the JJ noise, and how many non-LA's came out of the woodwork to praise it.

The other group are people who have been stuck in a rut playing CQC LA (shotgun and/or hipfire carbines only), who think the LA is strictly run and gun only. Have no idea that there are other ways to play LA.

Honestly, if you open up weapon choices for more classes (such as AR's for LA/HA's) it wont be overpowered. It would make SOE more money, at the same time open the classes up a bit more to fit their style of play.

Considering we don't have a tool slot (and the ideas for one I have seen have been subpar), giving us another weapon choice would be nice. The AR would fit with the LA just fine.

I'm not specifically for or against LA getting ARs... But Vaxx has the best argument so far.

Dunno, the more I think on it the more I think half the carbines (the ones for CQC to medium ranges) should have the .75 move speed thing as a means of setting them apart from ARs for CQC.

Specifically the CQC carbines (Lynx, GD-7F, Serpent), the short range carbines (Jaguar/VX6-7), and the standard issues (Merc, Trac-5, whatever VS use. Not S or Burst variants).

Heck you could potentially add that .75 move speed to all the carbines and it would still be fairly balanced while setting carbines apart from ARs.

After that let LA have ARs (more monies for SOE). It would expand the play style a bit more and it's pretty hard to OP the second lowest scoring class with a single change.

well its not just the stock its also the barrel length, carbines are modified versions of assault rifles fore better portability and indoor usage. They are in every other respect just an AR(though less accurate because of the shorter barrel) ps2 takes it a step further and typically makes carbines more cqc oriented, but for the vanu you have the option of the pulsar c which is more like the stock AR.

I'd probably leave Combat Medic behind if I'd get the Gauss Rifle for my LA.

LA is strong as it is. Why would they need AR's? o_O

I would have thought that was obvious, people want a fair fight and an even playing field. Of course people over-value their skills and their idea of a fair fight is one where they do as good as they think they should.

Why do you think LA should have a combat advantage?
Do the current LA abilities not give you a combat advantage or enough of one? At the risk of me phrasing this poorly, it seems from videos that at least in the hands of some the ability to fly is a significant combat advantage.
Why do you want ARs, what will they do for a LA that a carbine can't?
