As the title states I'll be buying SC for the first time I have no idea what to buy I mostly main my VS character though I'd like my other two characters to share some love.Sense coming back to PS2 I've noticed people use PDWs a lot should I invest on a pdw if so which one? Final question if I buy a non class specific weapon does it carry over to other factions?
  2. ReformerTR

Get yourself in VR and try them all out. PDW isnt bad. I think my best purchase with SC would be the commissioner.
  3. OddChelsea

NS gear, vehicle weapons that unlock cross faction (the ones that don't say VS use only) or cosmetics. I'd buy cosmetics as you can earn everything else in game. Everyone knows if you look cool you do better.

Lumifiber, Carapace armour, and a few camos for your Mag. :)

On a more serious note, I'd highly recommend going to the VR and testing out the PDW. If you do decide on the PDW, I'd recommend getting the standard version, because as far as I can recall, putting any camo on will cover up the gold/black trim.

If you buy a non-faction pacific weapon it does carry over to other characters/factions.This only applies if you buy it with SC. Buy it with certs and it won't carry.

If you buy a faction specific but a non-class specific weapon (such as the eidlon), you won't get the warden on your NC toon.

Buying a camo is a win-win. Buying a single camo will cover all the classes, weapons, and vehicles, as well as carrying over to all other toons.

If you buy something like a SMG, you can use it across all classes, although NS options and cosmetics are probably the best items to spend SC on as they become permanently unlocked for your account on all three factions (waiting for the daily deals is best if you're patient). You could also invest in a membership if you'd like for the extra experience gain, which should help out a lot too.
  6. DJPenguin

Don't buy with SC what you can buy with Certs

If you're going to spend SC on weapons, I wouldn't want to recommend anything without knowing your favourite play styles. The best way to test them is play with them in VR, then trial the one you want to use to see if you actually enjoy it (the trial button can be found as an option when you go purchase the gun in game, it lasts for 30 minutes, you can do one gun every 7 hours and each gun once a month) I believe the trial is a bit broken and you have to activate it from the loadout screen rather than the marketplace.

If you are going to buy the PDW, don't buy it in game, buy it here: https://www.planetside2.com/details?buy=PS2RE-IG-DD1114-WEBBUN
It's much cheaper and comes with a decent camo and a boost.

I have proceeded as thus; I never buy anything with SC that is not on sale. You get 500 SC as part of your paid membership. I allow myself another extra 500 SC ($5) purchased per month. That gives me about 1k SC a month to work with, which is 3 or 4 sale weaps. I have so far purchased ALL of my weaps with SC. I use certs for class/vehicle abilities. You can't get max NW with SC. I check the depot daily to see what is on sale. Once recently SOE offered certain items for 1 SC. I got everything offered at this price, regardless if I wanted it right at that moment. Coyote pods for 1 SC was a pretty good deal, even if I am a horrible pilot. Its at least fun to blow stuff up in the VR with them :).

As for what to buy, I agree that camos seem a good investment as they are universally unlocked, you can't get them with certs, and they do have an impact on in game performance. I don't bother with cosmetics. I'll get those when I run out of things to spend certs on (if that ever happens). Optics are good too as they are cheap and again this frees up certs to be used for things you can't get with SC. In general my approach has been to use certs only for things you can't get with SC. If its available with SC, I wait until I either save up enough SC for it or it goes on sale.

If something goes on sale that I really want and I have already spent my SC allotment for that month, I might throw another 5 bones at SOE. Those bastages are turning me into a hermit, making me spend my bar money on this game!

Oh yeah and some of the starter packs are a pretty good deal.

Sweet thanks guys does anyone know if there's a event coming up that might have some items on special?
  11. Neodymius

I don't know of any scheduled events, but they tend to be months apart and coincide with holidays (american national holidays specifically). If you use twitter, consider following this guy to keep up to date: https://twitter.com/PS2DailyDeals

depends of what gameplay style you have

    For example

-For ESF pilots its almost mandatory to buy a secondary weapon like rockets to perfom well
-For Heavy assault its very recommended a Lock-on Rocket Launcher for long distance anti tank and Anti air warfare (easy cert farm here ! )
-For Ligh Assault the C4 its pretty much the Cert farmer for the class when you use it against tanks , sundys and enemy max's (easily it's my 40% cert income in any session , for more knowdlege in how to use them there are youtube videos like the C4 review fom Wrel)

These things helped me a lot to have a more enjoyable experience , however if there is one thing i regret buying is the NS7 PDW...... pretty accurate but (IMO) low dps and nearly useless in CQC wich is my main combat style.

    Hope it had helped you.

Probably not as the spring sale was not that long ago. There is an item on sale daily. Probably will be a summer sale at some point though.

Fresh Meat pack for the PDW (199 SC)
    NS pistol of your choice
    NS-15, NS-11A/C
AV Mana turret if you like engie

I would only buy guns that are 1000 certs, that way you know you are saving yourself some time. Do research and don't buy bad ones though, every class has staples that are known as the best options (situational). If you really like vehicles you could buy some guns for those but make sure you really want it and will use them because if you are in an outfit and are lower level chances are you will get seat time in a fellow members fully certed vehicle (it's a lot of certs) or if people are nice they will just pull one for you. It's pretty common that people regret vehicle purchases early on and feeling like they could have spent SC/certs better.

Cosmetics are always nice, delta camo is a nice start for just hiding sundies and being the best all around camo for all continents. As well as unlocking for all factions in one purchase just like the NS guns.

Take it easy on what you initially buy and wait for the sales. If you buy one of the NS weapons and totally hate it then it would probably not be wise to buy the others and there is no hurry when it's not on sale.
  15. DieHard2Live3

I would recommend NS weapons and/or cosmetics (ones that unlock across all 3 factions).

I'd stay away from empire-specific content with SC. Simply not worth the SC compared to all-faction gear.

Also, try to wait for a discount. You can certainly get way more for less.

If you intend to buy any of the weapons, try them out in VR and trial-run them first. Will certainly save you a lot of hassle if you find out that whatever you purchased is underwhelming.
  16. Epic High Five

Fresh meat pack is a must

Past that I'd say go NC instead and get the Reaper DMR. A brand new VS who chooses the Pulsar C in the class quiz already has the vast majority of VS guns that are worth a damn.

A brand new NC, however, is just starting to scratch the surface.

The only NS gun worth a darn toot is the NS-15M, which is actually pretty good. The 11A is only good for the VS because their AR selection is so dire. You won't actually use it on the TR/NC because the T1/Gauss Rifle (defaults) are pretty much superior in every way.

I'm not really sold on the revolvers either. Beamer is a rock solid choice though the clicking required to maximize its usefulness borders on the obscene. Personally I'd go with the Manticore which is, I believe, 250 certs.
  17. St0mpy

save it all for implants, youll need it
  18. SongOfDiscord

Horns for the NS ground vehicles. Yay for noise.
    (No, seriously, horns are fun)

On the infantry side, NS-11 A and or C (depending on what you play for infantry) and its variants. The NS-7 PTW can be used by any character.

Ground vehicle weapons... Nah. Maybe one of the tank secondaries, but I like the default weapon too much.

Aircraft... The galaxy pack unlocks on all accounts, same for the liberator. Depends on which you use more.

One camo for each continent. Green/Giraffe for Indar. Deep green for Amerish. And white for Esamir.

THE LASHER IF YOU DON'T HAVE IT ALLREADY. Only AoE infantry primary weapon in the game, and there is nothing like hitting enemies you can't see around a corner.
  19. Paperlamp

I would recommend not buying SC until it's 2x sale, or waiting for holiday sales and grabbing a 1 month membership which comes with 500 SC, and those sales now have items for 1 SC or 99 SC each day. Potentially get 10 items out of that.

I think the way to go is to just get a few key items for all factions or the most important things you'll lack on certain classes, and then a few good camos.

    I'd say priority wise:

    #1. SMG

Infil class is just not complete without one. If you main VS, I'd pick up the Sirius. You could get a PDW too but it's not very good at close range due to high TTK. You'll have a rough time if you aren't aiming for headshots even when hipfiring. It is effective out to longer ranges than the other SMGs however, but still not going to compete with a carbine/AR/LMG or the auto scout rifle.

#2. MAX AI weapons. Dual Blueshifts or even just one Blueshift to pair with the one AI arm you start with will give you something to wreck infantry with.

#3. A good all-class helmet - helps especially for medic and infil on VS since they have distinct/noticeable default helmets. You want your head to not be easy to pick out. ;)

Then just a camo or two, whether you like aesthetic or just want to blend in. And you're set. VS starts with the best LMG in the game as default, you get a free shotgun now with their little noob-helping package. You can pick up a bolt action from that as well if you want to snipe people - granted it's not a long range focused one but I really like the 4x scope since it has no sway.

I really can't think of anything else - maybe a VX6-7 for light assault but it's not as essential. Most other guns are cheap enough with certs or not that much of an upgrade to buy with SC. If you're a tanker/pilot there are probably some important ones though.

So do you really shoot cats?

..I have nothing else to add to the discussion.
