Buying Guns is a huge waste

Backstory - Since the day I started I've bought a few guns with station cash that I thought were pretty good and liked their performance. The guns did just what I expected them to do and performed as they did when I tested them in the VR.

The problem is after I buy the guns SOE changes the stats to a point of I wouldn't have wasted the money on it if it had the new stats in the first place. All three guns I have purchased, and even the vehicle weapons I purchased have been nerfed after I bought them.

Conclusion - Don't waste your money on guns. If they are going to nerf them after you buy them, which is almost the case 100% of time. It just isn't worth it. I will buy guns with certs only when I have maxed out all the character stuff I want first. I think SOE is going to cause their products to be undersold by doing these post purchase nerfs to products bought.

    Thoughts?

    Which guns?

    It's just a retailer's trick.

    "Now selling gun for ..., with stats of 9/10, 8/10, 9/10, 8/10..."

3 months later after lots of kicking and screaming from the playerbase:

"Now selling gun for (same price), with stats of 6/10, 5/10, 6/10, 5/10...

Now also selling (other gun) for ..., with stats of 9/10, 9/10, 10/10, 9/10

3 months later after lots of kicking and screaming from the playerbase:

    ...

    Rinse and repeat.

The trick is to buy the guns that you like to play with regardless of how effective they are and hopefully they will buffed into competitiveness if they are underpowered currently. Don't buy the latest fad, it never ends well!

No, just don't buy out a gun because you think it is OP.

    Get the guns you like.

I bought the Pandora shotgun with slugs. Nerfed bullet drop and velocity, but then added velocity back. I really don't care why they nerfed it, I just wont buy stuff anymore with SC.

The NS-15 Heavy was nerfed I cant remember exactly how. Horizontal sway I think.

And im drawing a blank on the third.

The anti personnel tank cannons all got there splash damage nerfed after I bought one.

The ESF rocket pods got nerfed after I bought them.

I am not saying these things did or didn't need a nerf. I am simply pointing out the fact they nerfed them AFTER I paid cash for them, which sucks. So lesson learned for me. Don't buy stuff with cash in this game, because it will get nerfed. Exactly as Dalek pointed out.
  6. Darkwulf

I didn't read stats saying they were op. I tried them and thought I really like how this gun feels and handles. So I bought it. Then it gets nerfed. Lesson learned.

Is this the first online game you have ever played??

Nerfing old guns and introducing better ones happens on such a long time interval that I find it acceptable.
You can think of it as paying very small monthly subscription.

Even if you buy OP FOTM weapon you can expect fun to last for at least a month and in some cases even more (Harassers, ZOE).

Ohhhhh, so only the OP weapons got nerfed, and in most cases it was a larger, multi faction, multi weapon nerf. How dare they try to maintain balance! Those Greedy Greedersons!

If you don't want me to troll, don't use blanket statements when it only happened a handful of times. Or keep wearing the tinfoil hat.

The alternatives are to use the starting weapons, or to use your certs on guns instead of upgrades(which is a terrible waste of time). Neither of those options is satisfactory to me, I'd rather just pay $5-$7 here and there for something that makes the game more enjoyable. If the gun does happen to get nerfed at some point later on, I will still use it. I'm not about to buy every weapon that is OP for a temporary advantage anyway, so the gun will still be useful, just no OP.

Moral of the story is, buy weapons that have already been nerfed, or buy weapons expecting them to be nerfed at some point. If you go into it without taking that into consideration, you might regret it.

Your money is better spent on game cosmetics, you can earn new weapons with certs, but no amount of certs will allow you to be at the forefront of fashion while playing. My motto is "I may not be the best but I can look chic while doing it"

Because real pro's only need a knife.

    Sorry, couldn't resist.

VS shotguns always had a poorer velocity compared to other shotguns when they had no drop. When they added drop to VS shotguns they buffed the velocity, standardizing shotguns across factions. There was no "adding back velocity" as it never had the velocity to begin with. (unless it was a change to all shotguns, which might have been)

Cant say anything bout the NS as I never used, or paid attention to it.

HE tank cannons and rocket pods both needed those nerfs, and the rocket pods are still one of the best weapons in the game.

    They nerf cosmetics here too.

Stick with the basic equipment... it's the best anyway.

Derp you missed the point and the boat.
  17. Darkwulf

Yeah i said I dont care what the reasons are for the nerfs. I am not arguing that they did or did not need a nerf.

Just simply stating its a waste of money to buy something that will be changed soon so the new items will be worth the money before they are nerfed.

This is not a "I am made the items were nerfed for X reason thread"

Just that why buy something that will be changed. No point in it really when the stock weapons are fine.

Dont pay taxes for roads and utility's because they might do roadwork on your street one day.
When have they taken a gun and nerfed or changed it to a point where it no longer fills its intended role?
For me they have buffed much of my favorite gear. Keep up the good work I say.
  19. Pokebreaker

Well, what I have done is. I told myself I would only spend up to the dollar amount I would normally pay for a console game ($60), but only when I feel I have milked the game pretty well. So, after about 10 months of having an account, I decided to drop $60 on station cash, to support the game. Whatever I spend it on, I won't regret, because no matter how much they change things (for better or for worse), they will not see another dollar from me. I feel I've done my part, and they have done theirs. After i've used this lot of station cash, and I get tired of grinding for upgrades, that will be my end of days playing PS2; I'll move on.
  20. WorldOfForms

So your solution to your perceived problem is: "Don't support this game." Yes that will surely keep this game alive and kicking. Unless you're supporting the game through membership, purchasing boosts, or buying camo? If so, say something like "I think it's better to support the game in other ways."

Saying simply "Don't buy stuff because it might get balanced" isn't exactly constructive. Besides, who exactly would that be useful information for? We've all seen the patches. We've all played videogames before. How could you not know that weapons would get balanced?
