In a strange twist of fate, Australians are given more than they can handle; we usually get nothing at all. We have a buttload/uteload of servers, with a grand total of 8. The server names labelled (AU) (at least from the launcher) are: Alkali Black Ridge Briggs Jagged Lance Morgannis Rust Mesa Stillwater Vaemar If SOE wants us to put out around 3000 concurrent users, thats about the current number of BF3, NS2, Tribes Ascend and Black Cops 2 players (obviously at the get-home-from-work times). Everyone knows that gamers are sporadic and will flip from one game to the other. Why I'll be taking time off myself to play Farcry 3 next week. The problem now is that we need to stack a good server and this can be troublesome in the starting hours/day if nothing switches population to MED/HIGH. In a gesture of fair dinkum I hereby propose that we all go on BRIGGS in memory of Major Briggs from Twin Peaks. RIP Don. S. UPDATE: About 1:30 hours in and Connery (US West) , Mattherson (US East), Miller (EU), Walterson (US East) have gone to medium population. Probably because most Australians are going to be waking up for work/school soon but I hope people that took sickies or finished exams can bump an AU server to med as well!
Need to get some big hitters to fill up the server. I forgot some of the outfits that were playing in the beta on the Australian server then but I hope they read this post. I think I'll go spam up ToG.
Not everyone has 9000mb connections, to be in the game playing at 6:30am, on a wednesday morning. I'm sure we'll get our medium pop - we had it at the end of beta.
be good to know where the servers are and who they're hosted by. at what number does low become med and med become high? 65%
Favourite places to host servers in Australia are Sydney or Melbourne. Its possible that Internode (games.on.net) or Telstra (gamearena) are hosting it since they have a lot of power in the game server hosting side of things. They've both been quiet however.
Last I knew, the server is in Mascot, Sydney, being hosted privately (although some speculation its hosted through internode)
I thought we were to have one? Someone flicked the wrong switches? Anyway The Older Gamers are signing up to Briggs for the Australian servers.
