If you'd take a good look, the giant chunks of rock on the bottom of the valley actually are the remains of that land bridge. It's technically still there. But yeah, the single bridge that's there is too much a choke point when there's 96+ in both bases. Some sort of new construction, a man made object, would fit in well. This would keep with how the planet changes over time.
