Bring Back the Fun Feature Request: No TK Penalty for Outfit Member Grief

Interesting idea. I like it. A lot. A soldier toggled option to ignore TKs. Seems to resolve any number of objections. Genius.
  2. Cest7

Honestly if an outfit or friend mows me down 9 times out of 10 its my fault and they shouldn't be punished.
  3. MrJengles

Did either of you catch my earlier comment by chance? Not meaning to be annoying but it seems like the more natural solution:

"Or a forgive/punish choice for everyone when TKed."

Then each player can decide on a case by case basis and we don't have to worry about choosing groups like outfits or platoons. Whichever you choose you'll still be TKed by other players in cases you don't think they deserve to be penalized.

And then there's the fact that such a system would allow more accuracy in weeding out those that do deserve weapons lock vs. those who don't.

Larger outfits and leaders not being able to police 24/7 in most outfits. Especially if times are erratic and/or spread out for officers.

A toggle is a reasonable request, if this were to be added at all.

All it does is remove grief points for team fire from an outfit member to an outfit member...

Unless your own outfit members are intentionally trolling your own outfit, it should never be a problem.

If you have an outfit member who intentionally trolls your own outfit, they should be easy enough to identify and kick to the curb (and end up on permanent KoS list)
  6. WarmasterRaptor

    Oh, stupid me :(
  7. WarmasterRaptor

I completely misunderstood the intent. My bad
  8. steverogers

You mean that crapfits will have to stop inviting anyone and everyone they see to make their crapfit even crappier (and ruin any chance of new players getting good at the game too)?

    This has to be implemented!
  9. inigma

So the consensus is a toggleable option for players to ignore squad, platoon, outfit, and or faction teamkills, with default set to penalize such?

Or just allow outfit or squad and platoon leaders a toggle to not apply grief to members when members kill other members of the same group?

Or just stick to the PS1 model of ignoring grief for squads members and platoon platoon member and adding in outfit members to the exclusion mix in PS2?
  10. inigma

Too much micro management. What if they are late in apologizing and you want to forgive then?
  11. TammelTR

This is a bad idea because in the majority of ff incidents the fault lies with the "victim".
  12. Hosp

Squad or platoon is possible, though still exploitable and not a good idea IMO.

Outfit level...Never. Gives a ridiculous advantage to zergfits, essentially allowing them to AoE spam w/o consequence, meanwhile a smaller outfit or just group of friends have to watch their fire around all the zerglings.
  13. TammelTR

Just give outfits access to a vr training map that enables ff. They can train there but there is no risk of exploitation.
  14. DirArtillerySupport

*smashing head against monitor* how is killing your entire outfit, platoon or squad with HE not a consequence?

Anyhow....this all just makes way way too much sense...SOE will never implement it.
  15. Hosp

An advantage lost by TKing in the heat of battle is irrelevant to this topic.
  16. Taemien

    Sure.. I'm for this.

Place C4 on my buddy who is a cloaker and run him into a group of enemies. I get no TK grief points. But I get tons of enemies killed without penalty. I'd exploit the ever living crap out of this.
  17. Regpuppy

All I'm saying is that it should be left as an option. Some extremely small groups, casual groups, or even extremely large groups do not have an officer that's able to kick around 24/7. This can be a problem for any group that's actively recruiting. One bad recruit can ruin things for others during an off time. It happens. With this in mind, the benefit of being weapons-locked slightly less is not worth the hassle of watching people more closely and taking complaints.

But I won't argue this further. I'm in an outfit with high activity and stricter entry requirements, so I guess this won't be an issue for me. But it might for some. :p

I don't see the harm in adding the option other than potentially wasted man hours that could be spent improving a vast number of more important outfit features instead.

If it was a super quick and easy addition to add the option somewhere though... sure....

but I also don't see much need for it.

Honestly, I don't see need for the requested feature in the first place. Seems like a way to just let sloppy outfits be sloppier.

I think getting around the TK is a bad idea.

The exploit would be outfits fighting together that don't have the penalties for game play that others do.

Imagine a battle where an outfit is not limited by the TK penalty and can charge a base willy-nilly spamming grenades where death doesn't count for friendlies. Especially if the opposing team doesn't have the luxury of an outfit, platoon or squad and consists of forces drawn together from elsewhere to save a base due to pop imbalances. Not to mention the other faction friendlies caught in the cross-fire.

    TK shouldn't be removed.

I have been weapon locked ONCE in over two years and that was in an experiment to see how bad my gameplay had to be to cause it to happen.

If people are getting weapon-locked, it's because you don't give a **** about the other people in this game.
  20. TammelTR

I agree it's hard to get locked, but try the try MCG and it's a different story.
