well thanks for the update. i see there is a patch which replaces and patches the x86 file...sounds pretty bad if you crashed like this omg
Yes there is a new 32 bit exe but with it as usual in SOE glory there is now a new bug which stops you from being able to use it :/ You can technically launch the 32bit exe but you wont be able to use it as it just hangs on loading screen. Im off to find a new game, enough is enough now.
Ok, so I have managed to get 32 bit working for last 30 mins solid no problem so I am a bit happier. Seems 32bit is a little buggy with loading and couldn't get in a first but perhaps it was server being full that caused a hang at loading screen? I dunno. Anyway im playing on 32 bit and it works for me now. Thanks to SOE for a fix, I appreciate this.
Yep - mines working too. Didn't have to change anything - just started working after the patch. I'll keep an eye out for any hitching or crashes.
for me it looks like memory leak on steroids. when i log in and press deploy button i will immediately kicked out if battle is huge and will have about 1-2 min if it is about 1-12 vs 1-12
I've been having freezing problems for a while, these ones seem the same... Except they happen like 5 minutes after launching. They don't actually crash my game, as they seem to be doing with all yours, they just lock it up for like 30-40 secs. After the initial 5 minute freeze (hue) the game seems to run fine, though. Edit: After about an hour the game crashed hard, still pretty stable, though.
To those who are still crashing (I didn't have the opportunity to check it on my 32 bit PC yet), try the increaseuserva trick. I know it's dirty and I hate using it, but it's the only thing that seems to stop PS2's memory leaks. https://forums.station.sony.com/ps2/index.php?threads/planetside-2-exe-has-stopped-working.52462/
First i thought it's just a Joke but... yep i could play for at least 2 Hours till chrash, only thing is it's still not working as it should like.
Still a damn frustration. Prior to this crap, got more RAM so I could finally play longer. Now, with this crap, I'm back to the 5mins crashes + 5sec freezes. I think they need to bring a server that just doesn't get any frigging patches ^^.
Just tried again, 32 bit version .. after hitting play, I saw the Hossin front screen, loading , loading, loading, 99%.. then I saw the green letters on the bottom left of my screen... FPS: 0 yeah, it said ZERO fps.. (by the way, is this a new thing from the patch, i never noticed anything in that corner of my screen before...) then crashed to desktop.. didn't even make ti to the graphic that tells you you got 12 certs.. so sad.
I'm just curious... Why do you still use 32bit? Is it because of hardware limitations or because you don't want to purchase another version of windows? No offense intended.
no offense taken. Running an old system, in process of putting a custom system together, BlackDove, in this forum, was a great help with his guide. Haven't bought the parts yet, was too busy. When I found out that my old system can run this game, on low end, crash about every 20 min or so, I was OK with that. Then the game got better after OMFG, then it got better after PU2.. i was expecting that curve to go up.. instead of crashing. Couple of weeks I'll have my new system. But that won't stop me from pointing fingers when SOE decides to ignore their players and messes up, yet again.
Buying a new com is not cheap and my com still works, i could run other games pretty well graphically. I could play titanfall and play it smoothly, the only reason i can't run it is because i'm on a 32bit com.
Because 64 bit was bugged since the release and still doesn't work on some 64 bit computers, don't ask me why.
Because x64 client gives me worse prefomance (stuttering, lower fps, crashes silently every couple of hours). Because the FOV fixer only works with x32 - and on my 21:9 monitor - the default games maximum FOV of 74 vertical simply isn't enough. The "widescreen support" option does nothing for me. My system is more than capable of running the x64 client (i7 4770k + gtx780ti win 8.1 x64) - the x64 bit client is just sub par to the 32 bit one. Or at least it was.
"Why do you still use 32bit? Is it because of hardware limitations or because you don't want to purchase another version of windows? No offense intended. " I assembled my computer by myself, it is 5yo, and in 2009 64bits was completly useless. If I want to switch to 64bits, I must reinstall EVERYTHING on my computer. And in 5 years, you accumulate lot of data/softwares/etc. When you BUY Windows license, you have the both versions, 32 and 64 each one on a CD. You should know it
Experience so far: I started with windowed-fullscreen and freeze/crashed after 5 min. Then I tried again in just fullscreen and it worked. The framerate would get worse over time though. On two occasions, when the framerate was close to zero, I got booted to desktop. So overall I would say it is more or less playable, but not that stable. Obviously it is a huge step back to the perfectly stable client with perfectly stable framerate (for me) that we had prior to this patch.
