Thats what DCarey said on....go figure on reddit -"So apart from the Valk and the bug fixes, the August update was a big one for us because it had the PS4 integrate. That means lots of new issues related to input, unique client crashes, 32 bit client issues, and visibility problems went into the game. I wanted to call out that we knew this update would be a bit rough once it went out and why we did it. It's important this integrate happened. Kriegshauser had a choice - keep the PS4 team/code separate or integrate. He chose integration because we'd get the performance enhancements on the PC that a full team on the PS4 had to do. So it's a 'short term pain, long term gain' situation that we decided was worth biting the bullet on and doing now. It'll pay off big time in the next couple updates. We are aware of the issues you guys are going through and appreciate you calling them out - keep it up. We've already agreed to keep Sept light on features and focused on quality of life and performance. And since we integrated, that means two teams working on those. Which is good news for us. Several issues have already been resolved by PS4 members for the PC. TL;DR Hang in there, this will be a good couple months coming up." That is what i say: fuk the official gameforum here because everything i happening on reddit or twitter....WTH`?
The advice SOE gave me. I'm pretty sure they are just talking out their *** and pass on the blame elsewhere, away from their flawed update and servers. "Thank you for contacting Sony Online Entertainment. The issue you are currently experiencing is commonly related to a caching issue with the game's launchpad. In order to possibly resolve this issue, go to your game's folder and find the launchpad.libs folder. From there, delete the launchpad.cache folder and try accessing the game once again. If this does not resolve your issue please reset your Internet options by following these instructions: Go to Start > Control Panel > Internet Options > Click the Advanced Tab. On the Advanced Tab Afterward click Reset > Delete Personal Settings > and click Ok. Then go back on the Internet Options and on the advanced tab, scroll down to Security and un-check "Check Server Certificate Revocation" and "Do Not Save Encrypted Pages to Disk" then click on Ok. If you continue to have problems, please provide the files below so we can better assist you. I’ll need you to create the following two diagnostic files so I can take a closer look for any potential hardware and software issues: DxDiag.txt MSinfo.txt To create the files on your hard drive, please follow these instructions: " DxDiag.txt - Press and hold the Windows key and tap the R key on your keyboard. - In the box that pops up type DXDIAG and press Enter on your keyboard. - Click the "Save all Information" button, located at the bottom of the program window. - In the "Save As" box click the icon in the top bar. - Select the desktop and save the file as "dxdiag.txt" MSinfo.txt - Press and hold the Windows key and tap the R key on your keyboard again. - In the box that pops up type MSINFO32 and press Enter on your keyboard. - Click on the "File" menu and choose "Export..." - Select the desktop and save the file as "MSInfo.txt" Read more
I'll be interested to see just how many people are on the H1Z1 servers when that "two weeks release" date rolls around.
Sony what is wrong with you? Sony is not even caring about this problem. If they would do they would keep us up to date. But Sony doesnt care about us, who are using 32 bit. You just think it is a little problem, but you dont care about that, because the planetside 2 of the PS2 team is working perfectly. They just are in their houses and playing PS2, instead of make the 32 bit client work. Thanks SOE.
This really needs an update now from SOE. We have been made to wait long enough, please can we have an SOE employee comment on the current status/progress of this bug, PS-184 on the bug tracker. Cheers.
Im pretty sure they're keeping the players up to date. Just not on their own official forum (unless its about accounts and billing), but in leltwitter and reddit. (anyone got links to em?) Sooon, bru... Anytime now
Why can't they just roll back to the last working state? The Valkyrie is not worth rushing things that much. Just roll back on live servers, put the current patch on the test server, fix it there and release a working version in a couple of days. It's that easy!
i dont know what in specific you want for links, i decided to give a couple of links relevant to this topic http://www.reddit.com/r/Planetside/comments/2f5vh5/crash_rate_has_sky_rocketed/ http://ps2issuetracker.com/browse/PS-184 http://www.reddit.com/r/Planetside/comments/2f2kay/issues_after_the_august_update/ https://twitter.com/dcarey7761/status/505413432024133633 I hope i didnt forget anything...
Thanks for the reddit link, I missed that myself and was quite angry to have not heard anything being discussed about the 32bit client being completely broken. Was good to read something more recent that mentions they are going to fix it and see them admit it was a choice of move forward with PS4 stuff that caused the 32 bit client to be fudged. I am a little happier to hear them say this and just for newer news. Its a shame they choose to not use their own official forums to discuss these things but Reddit instead, they would get so much less hate if they posted these things here in their own official forums which is the sole purpose of them in the first place, right? Post here first with announcements, its the first place anyone would expect to read the latest updates from SOE. Yes use Reddit in addition, but PS2 Forum should be main priority for communications, its just logical and should not be any other way ever unless they close their own official forum goes offline. So....just gota wait for that working 32 bit client then. Would be great if they offered a little sweetener for those 32 bit users that have been locked out of the game since the 29th of August. To pay membership and be locked out is a bad thing. I am more than certain it will result in membership cancellations from people using 32 bit.
The official response to the 32bit client ... Any idea on when the next patch is going to be? Like a general week so we know when we can have another go at playing. permalink [–]dcareySOE[S] 6 points1 day ago For 32 bit, we'll patch as soon as we have the fix. That's all I have now, wish I could be more specific, but it's a complex issue. I do not expect it to last a whole week though. Thanks for hanging in there. permalink parent [–]TheVulture77 2 points1 day ago For Planetside 2 ill hang in there all I have to. Itching to get my boots on the ground. permalink parent [–]dcareySOE[S] 2 points1 day ago Props 8))
Someone should create a site that posts the developer's post's in a chronological order... That way we don't need to scan over twitter/reddit/FB/ or what not else... At least that way we can understand how things are coming along. A web scraper I think you call it, will scan for user info and extract the data for simply reposting, if anyone is familiar with that type of stuff and can set it up quick and easy, I bet you could make a fair amount of adsense dollars for the convenience of such a site.
We have a "dev's post" feature here on the forums - lists all posts made by the devs. But apparently the official forums isn't the place to answer players questions (who'd have known). I am well aware there are some answers to our questions on twitter and reddit - however, not having an account for either of these - means I am unlikely to ever check them. And no SOE I will not get an account just for the sake of your game. Post in your ******* forums.
You always learn something new. I thought that the difference between the 64bit and 32bit version was just running it through a different compiler. Aparently it's not that easy.
Well, you weren't THAT far off, but as always it's a little more complicated than that. If all you wanted to do was to make an existing 32bit application into 64bit then essentially yes - you can for the most part just compile it as such and gain the ability to address more memory to the program as far as the OS sees it. However, any internal mechanisms that wants to take advantage of this (such as if you wanted to use all that extra memory to cache more than 4GB of data to say - preload map data) you'd have to have a separate codepath for that where this part of the application is actually coded with 64bit support. Otherwise you'd essentially just end up with a program that ran as 64bit but wasn't actually able to take advantage of that fact at the level of the program. I've never worked on a project anywhere near this size but I assume that most of the code between the clients is shared code (after all, it's only for fairly specialized datastructures that you'd ever even want to take advantage of 64bit to break the limitations of 32bit) and that the parts that aren't shared just have codepatchs that "switch" based on if you want a 64bit or 32bit executable when you compile it. So, I don't know what failed... but there is likely a lot of changes that had to be made here and there to get this PS4 integration finished, and parts of the 32bit codepath may just have not been adjusted yet. If the PS4 game bases itself on the 64bit version I guess it makes sense that they started there and considered 32bit a secondary task. Time constraints and pressure to release the new content patch may have just resulted in unfinished work where they cut (a rather critical) corner to get it done in time. Take everything I say here with a grain of salt. I am only an amateur so far, but this is my understanding of it. -Stigma
Ok, 32bit client is back online. Unfortunately I crashed after 5 min in a pretty brutal way. Full freeze! Had to bring the whole machine back up.
