BR100: The Esamir Update is 50% genius and 50% cancer

I would have loved to leave it out, but the first thing that gets attacked on these forums is the reputation of the user and I got sick of BR25's telling me that I just "didn't understand" how the game worked or that I was "clearly bad" whenever I stated my opinion on balance issues.
  2. Cirevam

That's not entirely true. If I remember right, there's grav lift near the vehicle terminal. Take that up to the guard tower, parkour onto the high wall, then jump down to the lower wall that surrounds the vehicle pad. I would prefer an actual exit there, or at least a defender-only teleport tube, but for now it is possible to jump over the wall.

This is pure theorycrafting though. Here's the reality that of a "siege" on one of these wallposts:

    1) Attacking armor shows up
    2) 99% of enemy infantry is holed up behind the wall, absolutely no purpose for the tanks to remain active
    3) Sundies deploy, attacking infantry pour in
    4) Vehicle drivers say "**** this ****" and abandon their vehicles because there's no reason to sit in a tank and miss on out thousands of XP just to keep your engine warm.
    5) Either the attackers win and your vehicle has been reclaimed after 5 minutes, or the defenders win and all the drivers go "****" on the respawn menu when they realize the sunderer was destroyed and they can't get back to their vehicle.

As for the "well now you need armor to push TO a base and infantry to TAKE a base, just like god intended!"

Normally I'd just ignore this kind of awful post since it reveals an incredible bias, but I'm seeing a lot of it so I'll respond:

    - If your faction's strategy (of pulling lots of tanks) can be countered by the other faction in your lattice lane doing ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. Then its NOT AN EFFECTIVE STRATEGY. If we just won a huge battle at Saerro and have to push on Eisa East, and we all pull armor to help our push... only to show up and realize the TR just pulled MAX's and are camping inside... guess which idiots just wasted their mech resources? These wall changes just push us closer and closer to "who brought more population" as the chief factor of any faction's ability to win battles. Outdoor battles were far more about positioning, terrain, and flanking maneuvers than it was about "Ok lets just send a human wave attack at the point".

    - To reiterate, this just dumbs down every rush lane to "who brought more population". Tanks can still play a role in outdoor battles but as it stands right now, outdoor battles are merely a symbolic gesture on many bases in Esamir. I compare it to the heavy air and tank battles you often see around Biolabs, yes there is fighting, yes you're getting kills, but you're also having 0 impact on the final outcome of the fighting.

Problem is squad deploy, squad beacons, and infantry possessing AV weaponry capable of out ranging tanks. Infantry are OP in terms of their AV capabilities.

The terrain changes are an improvement, now we just need infantry mechanics to fall in line with whats been done to air and tanks and they're halfway there with the burster change, now they just need to focus on the engineer av turret, lancer, vortex, fracture, and all of the lock on weapons.

Shall I summarize your post in saying you don't like tank zerging not being a winning strategy anymore?
What you are asking for just brings back the spawn shelling

Someday SOE will listen to PTS feedback... Someday.

But today is not that day.

Why did they even bother putting in the PTS? They only listen like 5% of the time to the feedback on the server build.

Absolutely up. Now if defenders can do their job, attackers have a hard time at getting inside the base and capturing the point. In the meanwhile some defenders can redeploy backwards along the lane and roll vehicles and aircraft from other bases to strike attackers when they do not expect it.

Today on Miller 6 pm GMT+1 there has been one of the most exciting sieges I've fought from beta. A big harsh fight where TR had to conquer the ground meter by meter with tons of bullets.

Restore vehicle weapon splash damage. :)

So much stuff on the terrain now. Way too much of those big pretty spikes. :L Doesn't match the flat landscape description of Esamir.
  10. Sogui

Only a TR would pretend that tanks can just roll past enemy lines and freely shell their flanks.

As soon as someone spots you on the minimap you'll catch enough striker lockons to vaporize your character from the servers.

Small squads I would think benefit the most, I have see just a few squads hold out against huge platoons with the new bases, now that is for defence but still.

Esamir from my understanding was suppose to be the tank continent. The base redesigns are amazing but, all of these hills scattered every were is a little disappointing.
But a lest I know that when Amerish gets redesigned Domes will probably be placed everywhere, considering Amerish is the air continent...
  13. WTSherman

What's sad is that mankind has been designing defensible walled bases for thousands of years. 1500's on they're even designed to account for firearms and artillery. There's no need to bang rocks together and reinvent the wall, just open some history books... and since PS2's walls are indestructible, we have it easy compared to those ancient architects.
  14. Irondove

hmm that universal truth about people having something to complain about no matter what....just reared its head again. Here's an EPIC idea. submit a base design. or base change. but no...all youre all really good at is crying.
  15. WTSherman

    Check my sig. :D

I'll be the first to admit that interior design is not my strong suit. Neither is drawing concept art for that matter.

But I know a thing or two about fields of fire.
  16. Rayden78

There is an extensive thread proposing new base designs already .. no need to add any further
  17. Flashtirade

Amerish updtate: There is a giant invulnerable Nanite "glass" pane covering the entire continent. This pane starts from 200 meters above the ground (varying due to terrain) and extends upwards for 300 meters. The A2G-G2A metagame is now fixed.

I wish i could upvote you to the top. So much for having a Reddit system on these forums. :(

"The terrain changes are an improvement..."

    Ah.
    I didn't notice it.
Now, on Esamir, everything looks so cramped, cartoonish, without enough open spaces for tanks operations and all theses labyrinthic bases turned into "arenas" just for kids and nervous "gamerz".

Too bad, this game could be so great.
  20. Padapong

I hate Esamir. It changed from one extreme to the other. It turned from flat and empty to messy.
