Both are me. VS vs NC

    That's just the weapons, methinks.

The Orion is much easier to use both in recoil and fire rate, while it also blooms much less than the SAW and allows for greater sustained fire.

If you really want to do well with the SAW, bursting as much as possible helps keep the shots on target.
  3. guerrillaman

I agree it is the weapon. My point is, going in stale, no VS usage at all, my HS rate is 45%! Nearly 20% higher! And I do burst fire, and I am getting better, but the discrepancy between the two guns is wild. I think some hardware issues might be involved too.

Disregard the KDR. I do a lot of things that get myself killed.

If you're using the Gauss in the same way you're using the Orion, you're just doing it wrong.
If you're using the Orion at longer ranges than the Gauss, you're just doing it even more wrong.

The Gauss is an excellent weapon when used at long ranges with Grip, Comp and a decent scope. Hell, shove a 6x on there and you can often outshoot snipers..... Trying to use a Gauss as a CQC run-'n-gun just means, again, you're doing it wrong.

You've got all of 50-ish kills with each weapon, and your 16% accuracy on the Orion says to me that you were specifically shooting for HS even at the cost of accuracy in order to create this fake non-issue of yours. Auraxium them and then we'll see.

All in all, so far I believe that the problem is not the gun balancing, it's between the chair and the keyboard.....

Well, you're wrong. So that's that.

Of course they are different. That's the point. You can't run and gun with the gauss saw the same way you can with the orion.... however the distance from the sundy to the point.... is exactly the same. Now what?

These are fresh characters so I could see how well I did with each. I have 1900 hours into the game.

Instead of blaming gun balance (or lack there of), consider these 2 possibilities.

    1) You just had a good day with the Orion.
First of all 56 or 63 kills with a weapon is hardly a valid sample. Second, good days sometimes just happen. Your hsr on the Orion is crazy good. It's like top 1% level good. No offense but the rest of your stats don't reflect 1% top tier gameplay. I remember while auraxiuming the TRAC I had one stupid good evening of tower and bio lab fights on Esamir where I ended up with 60 some odd percent HSR. The next day I finished with something more average like 25%.

    2) You're a vet and more experienced at the gunplay mechanics of PS2.
As you play more planetside 2, you become more familiar with how guns work and as a result, perform better with them stat wise.
For example here's my weapon data from dasanfall:

Statistically my best weapon is the TRAC-5 Burst. Second best is the Cougar. These two also happen to be weapons I started using after more than 14,000 kills with other carbines. Actually my carbine list from earliest used when I started playing planetside to latest goes: Jag- AMC- Lynx - TRAC- Cougar- TRAC 5B. Notice how with each carbine stats get progressively better and better.

#1.. Maybe. It doesn't actually feel that way though. I think something else is going on. It truly "feels" dramatically easier. At 50m, even at a stationary target (VR room), even bursting, I cannot get the shot to hit the target 25% of the time with the gauss. With the Orion, I can just lay on the trigger and keep it on target almost the entire time. Maybe its PC performance, specs of the gun, or something else, but that gun will not stay on target.

I'll make a video of it.

It's also the fact that 99% of my kills on VS were against the NC.

    Roflol

#2 doesn't follow. I actually used the gauss after I started fumbling around with the Orion.

On my overall accuracy... Its because I spend a lot of time messing around shooting at far off targets just trying to get better. I could easily stay at 25% or higher if I wanted.

    I have a question.

How its possible to have 0.6 KD as HA using a shotgun or Gauss SAW?
  9. FateJH

    By not being lucky.
Edit: I keep failing at math snark right now.
  10. Eternaloptimist

Gauss has a nasty first shot recoil multiplier IIRC, so bursting would just mean repeated high first shot recoil.

Or It could just be a statistical puff - the law of inertia of large numbers says that comparing bigger numbers tends to reduce early variances between them.

Or it could be that misses punish slow firing weapons more than fast firing weapons.

Or it could just be circumstances - targets moving faster/slower, targets with different armour flak/nano/none or certed to different levels.

Or maybe you're a little bit like me - sometimes when I play I'm on fire. Other times I can't hit the side of a barn from inside with the doors closed. And sometimes I'm fighting low BRs, other time MLG Pros

Muscle memory or twitch response might play a part too. You are clearly attuned to several higher RoF carbines and the Orion has a similar RoF to many of the ones you've listed.

They all me... What was your point?
  12. stalkish

You kill 30 players and die 50 times (or any other variable of the ratio)??
    Simple maths....
  13. Masyaka

You get minimum 7 kills for rushing a room at 12-24 region with any shotgun. You will always kill someone at open space using SAW or die to tanks.

Unlucky to meet 20 4-dingers out of 50 Ps2 players....
  14. stalkish

No idea what youre trying to say.

To achieve a .6 k/d you need to kill 3 players for every 5 deaths (or any variance of the ratio).

Thats it, nothing mroe nothing less, this does not depend on weapons, explosive, lag, or whether your dog just chewed through your keyboard cable.
If you die 5 times and only kill 3 youll have a 0.6 k/d.

Perhaps thats not the question you were actually asking, forgive me if not, i cannt read minds, certainly not through a computer screen where i cannot see your body language.
  15. ObiVanuKenobi

The A-F ratings are out of all players who use that weapon, so you are doing better than most people with Orion and average with the SAW which proves it's just you not everyone. If you had the same rating for both we could discuss imbalance.
  16. guerrillaman

I'm taking what everyone says into consideration and I'm going to keep trying to get as many headshots as possible using both guns. I'll revisit at 100 kills.

Also, those asking about my kd.
